sorry triple post

alright, so the line p for w40k collab disc 2 (provided this plan is generally accepted) is now

FB18
gazelle
a new part from me

crabpope
getting along
nob heads

trojenmonkey
energy drink
(new trojenmonkey part if he still wants to)

Bomblu
possibly yet another part by Mr Bomblu
make love not warhammer (to spread the file size a bit)
I believe in a thing called love (opening to credits, bomblus chaos spin)

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted July 7th, 2009 in Game Development

ok everybody... new plan (provided I get 'aye captain' s from the better part of the members)

I refuse to drop anyone's part.. but going the way we're going it looks like I won't be able to use crabpope and trojen monkeys parts in this file. there for, after talking to bomblu, I have decided that we should break the collab into two parts.

HOWEVER, we can't have a part 2 of only 2 flashes, so anyone thjat'd be willing to slog out another part or two, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm shooting for disc 2 to have 7-10 parts (I may dream to high though) I'll make another part or two out of the thousands of incomplete projects I have floating around on my computer.

trojenmonkey, you wanted to make a second part, so here's your chance. please make a second part.
phobotech, we can now use your part AND the one about nobz you thought was rubbish (I rather like it)

ok, so we can count on about 4-5/7-10 thus far. anybody else got anything?

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted July 7th, 2009 in Game Development

I decided to give it another go...

I thought I was chugging.. hell i WAS chugging... but then I added trojens part and now the damn thing won't even export. this is so annoying

Obvously, it's a matter of opinion and, i persoanlly, think it's one of my funnyest things in the collab - which is why i animated till 'dark sext rituals tonight' and forbid liked it quite a lot :P So, all i've got left to animate is the final 'i kissed a spawn and i liked it, and i liked it'. and some minor tweaks.

As for the collab combining, i think we're still waiting for tom fulp to tell flashbound the best way to compile all our animations. Also, if any of you guys who still follow the forum have ever compiled a collab before, i think flashbound might appreciate your help ;p

no reply from tom yet (and I waited all weekend too)

I think I have pinpointed PART of the problem... the memory usage bit... but that retarded java script error is still a complete mystery to me (as well as the rest of the internet, apparently)

I've tried everything! there's just something really wierd about this part. It's positioned properly in it's own fla, but when I copy the frames everything just shifts to the left. when I put it in a movie clip, that fixed the problem for it's own scene, but the file broke the collab file.

I even went through an renamed all of the symbols based on their content. this file actually broke the collab file. it doesn't render with AS or filters anymore. I think I've located the problem, and it ma not have to do with your file, but flash it's self seems to be broken now..... :(

how the hell do the NG staff do this shit?

I do not want to, and almost refuse to drop this part or anyones, but I really have no idea what to do!

However, if you all want to help out a little more - and being that i'm working on the credits, pleae post the names of the tracks (music) you used in your parts. If yo've got the source from where you got your sfx, it'll be good aswell so we can fill the 'credits' section in the credits :P

Also, if any of you are missing any pics for the menu front screen or their bios page, please send them to flashbound, forbid or myself :)

we have everyone's character but yours man!

my credits:

beach parade: Armando Trovaioli
Terminator Audio: Terminator Salvation official trailer, Terminator OST, Terminator franchise

I believe that's it.

no I did, I just forgot when I compiled that list

I'm making an announcement:

though today was indeed the due date for submissions to the collab, the submission to the portal date will probably be pushed back a day or two. I just created a personal list of everything that needs to be done and, well, you thought YOU'VE been working hard, lol.

phobo, your part is going to serve as the greatest accidental opening ever! because you ended it with 'the emperor has a sense of humor,' I've decided to make it the first part in the collab, following it a big collab title screen which fades to the next part. I can't thank you enough for being a part of this.

Glad to see you back from the sexbox. I'm sure it was a glorious orgasm

ANYWHO, the menu looks great, as before, but just a few things:

-the music loop is really short. me and forbid were considering some songs last nihgt, and I think Oh Fortuna! is delightflly funny and cliche for this flash. I'll put a loop for it togethor and insert it when I recieve all of the pieces for construction.

-on the bios page, pawn's name is nearly squeazed out at the bottom. also, the perspective of the buttons to the rock is a little off, as mentioned before. I can fx that too, if you want to work on your movies now. lastly for bios, it would be nice to see the persons username on their page (so the reader doesn't lose track of whom they clicked on)

-we still need some sort of transition between pages, but I think I have an idea to sort that out. (MSN)

-I have some other ideas, but I'll discuss them with you via MSN tomorrow and Tuesday during construction.

great work bomblu! I hope we left you enough time to tweak and finish the rest of your stuff!

part 2

Bomblu had made something similar a while back, but I remember it was a little longer and was dismissed as annoying. I tried to make this one simpler, darker, and shorter, with less of a 'melody'

I'm back, I left Wednesday after that post and came back this afternoon.

I take this to mean he left today and gets back Sunday. You should send your parts to him.
There goes my weekend...lol

hey, wow! a few months ago I sent you a pm offering to eliminate the static in your awesome flash, but you never replied. I wasn't trying to steal your movie, I was being sincere.

anyway, the art work is great!

as for the transition, why can't we just settle on something like a super-hero cartoon transition? I made this whole transition that turned out nicely and exactly how I had imagined it, but ofcourse tonight of nights is when spam the web has decided not to work, so I'll show it tomorrow, spam the web and god willing.

besides, TV static is a cheap and WAY WAY WAY overused solution (though I am a fan of how it looks)

Fuck! Im to late! Why did no one mention the Rainbow Warriors!!!

hey! like the Hawaiian college football team right? I've been to their stadium.. rainbow warriors are perfectly insignificant t the league, so they should be perfect for your part. (is that a real chapter though?)

bt-dubs, if you're going for black and badass, why didn't black templars occur to anyone?

Response to: the warhammer 40k collab! Posted June 23rd, 2009 in Game Development

bomblu, than what about the faces for the marines on the front page? I'd say we should send photos, but maybe in the interest of time you should just give everyone a marine helmet (accept for Micky, I thought it would be funny if one of the marines has a Micky mouse head)

pawn, you absolutely deserve a bio page, and even a coauthor as 'voice actor' if space provides.

redharvest, I'm sure he means the fla file, because the Image will be in vector and he'll be able to change/ manipulate it without losing any quality.

I have noticed a pattern that you guys are always active late at night for me, so I hereby acknowledge we probably have large time zone differences, and I'll stop occasionally bitching about nobody's posting

keep up the good work! :)

actually, besides what I mentioned before, really all this needs is some epic music. just have it cut when it goes to the shot of all the armies killing eachother in a brawl, with a record scratch noise to end it.

I liked it a lot! it just needs a few little things to make it shinier; no, I wouldn't want this to be an easter egg, but rather, the last part in the collab (aside from bomblus.)

add shadows under their feet by simply drawing a black oval, making a symbol, and bluring it on it's x.

for the muzzle flares, the secret is to have them flash. you can do this by making a blank keyframe every few frames or so.

Micky, as for bios, they should probably all be pmed to bomblu, though I can't authorize filling his pm box, so wait for his opinion. it's just that that way they won't get jumbled and lost amongst the other posts and activity.
