That's the best case scenario.... but I doubt that'd happen.
If its all in one fla Flash has a limit of 15,000 or 16,000 frames.. It could be that you are past that mark..
You may need to break it up or compile each animator's part separately and have one fla insert it by code.

That sounds like the root of our problems. deff. look into that as and I'll help too, naturally. but lets see what mr stamper says first
This is one of the dangers of working with heavy fla's and different versions of flash (even if the person has saved it down, it sometimes fucks up the integrity of the file when you put it alongside native version files)
It'd be good to have stamper tell you how he managed to resolve it. Although i remember he had a really tough time with it.

hey guys.. what if we exported our parts as videos, laced the videos together, then rendered in a compact high quality format, imported into flash, and just added the menu.
we'd have to drop scene select.. but that's not the worst casualty that could have happened.
I've been considering this approach for a while... but didn't want to throw it out there until all hope seemed lost, as we might have SLIGHT pixelation.
however, has anyone ever noticed that in videos embedded in flash movies on newgrounds, the pixelation actually seems to add a measure of legitimacy and professionalism? Its the reverse of what you'd think, yes.. but...

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we settled for the speed racer one. it looks nice too and not too annoying.
Oh and also, this just came to mind now. Since we're still in the process of making the thing, but it's almost done, do you think we should make a form of 'trailer' and post it around here about a week or so before we release it? It might build up some 'hype' or make the whole thing even more pro. When i say trailer, i mean a lot of 'Epic Text' on a black background and Epic Music from an Epic Movie with very VERY short clips (literlay, 2 seconds) once in a while; just finishing off with a 5/10 second joke from the whole collab. If you like the idea i wont mind doing it.

Just some ideas...
click a frame of the music and in the properties inspector set the sync to stream. this enables audio scrubbing, as well as being able to play the song from any point, and the song stops when the frames stop

So far, ALL I have done is removed the empty keyframes and empty layers in the main timeline, THAT IS IT! I havn't even looked in the symbols yet...

It's funny, I had done all of stampers optimization, but hadn't worried about layers or keyframes at all. I feel dumb now

anyway.. fbf is the way I go. my cycles usually consist of 6-7 frames at 24 fps, but I suppose that's more of a run. just have all the symbols of all the character on one layer, and each keyframe manipulate them so that one foot coms up and rotates forwards, than goes back down, than the other foot, while meanwhile the body tilts backas the foot comes up and forward as ti goes down. don't forget to have arms go forward and backwards opposite to the legs.
for walking, (not running) just drag it out for more keys, and be more subtle on the frames. you'll get the hang of it eventually.
