nah it werent gunrun

I looked through the archives, back from 2007 and GOD DAMN IT i cant find it! hm...lemme try to add more detail.

the avatar it had was of a black man, and a grren backgorund. the man was running too.

that big monster thing is a machine. it tires to shoot you as you try to get the cogs "obviously".

there's text at the bottom, that keeps showing witty insults towards the person your playing as, and towards you. he even changes his insults every few seconds and repsonds with more insults when you get hurt.

does that help more?

whats that game called again? Posted January 22nd, 2009 in Where is / How to?

I felt this was the right section for this. it did say "question about the featurs and flash on newgrounds".

I remeber playing a game that was on the front page, where you where this guy who was just coloured black, no face, nothing. you had to run and collect these cogs, with this big thing after you firing lazers and what not. then you had to run bakc to a bunker, and you coudl upgrade fomr there. the style of ground and level was industrial. and you could upgrade yourself form there.

This is a rather detaiuled explanation of the game, but I can't for the life of me think of that the name is. Anyone help out?

I have custom cursors selected from a settings menu, however when the mouse is actually on the targets it is not visible this for somereason is because it is on a layer below the actual target. Is there a way using as3 to make the mouse cursor on the top layer?

do you have a layer for all the actions, or are you putting them onto the same layer?

to be honest, smoothness all depends on the FPS.
I think ti should be able to handle it, if you computer has a good enough RAM and stuf.

Response to: as2 or as3? Posted January 19th, 2009 in Game Development

Lol, yeah it can.

function clicky(event:MouseEvent){
//stuff
}
button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK , clicky);

oh...well I find it easier to use on(release) in as tbh. XD

Response to: effects? Posted January 19th, 2009 in Game Development

http://www.metalslugsprites.net/misc/exp losions/

theres a few here i'll use, just save the gif image, import it into flash and you get loads of bitmaps, compile as a movie file and it'll be just like the real image.

this helped with the explosion, now i just need some dust/smoke effects.

effects? Posted January 19th, 2009 in Game Development

you see, for my lastest flash I need effects (in sprite form) like that of SMBZ (ie, hit effects, smoke effects, explosion effects).

I've looked over google and have found no luck. Anyone know where to find such sprites for these effects?

Response to: as2 or as3? Posted January 19th, 2009 in Game Development

I'd stuck on the AS2 side, seen as AS3 can't use buttons >.>

First off, i wouldnt go for JPEG. static and what not.

but its your choise on what to do.

if you want the background transparent, and its all one colour, then use the magic wand tool, which can be found underneath the lasso tool. (thats for flash)

Most people would use DreamWeaver, no doubt. I dont know whether it would be better or not, seen as i've never tired it.

A non-locked layer?

Response to: A non-locked layer? Posted January 18th, 2009 in Game Development

Bump.

I need serious help on this one. I cant go any further without it fixed, and i've tried loads of things.

Response to: A non-locked layer? Posted January 18th, 2009 in Game Development

Ok i fixed that but now its ding something even more qwierd

when i select a graphic to use, it continually uses a gra[phic that I dont want to use. if i put enough of the graphic i want in, eventually it's shows that grpahic I want, but when i dleete the rest it goes back to the one that I dont want there.

In other words, I have a grpahic called "sonicdown". when I drag it to the stage, it places "sonichurt" in it's place. why is this? how can I fix it?

A non-locked layer? Posted January 18th, 2009 in Game Development

I have a layer that ISNT locked, but it wont let me drag grpahic into it :/

help?

Flash Going Wierd Posted January 17th, 2009 in Game Development

It seems when I try to move a graphic onto the stage, it wont let me! All it does do is come up with a circle wiht a cross through it, meaning that I can not drag it onto the stage. When obviously I should be able to.

Can anyone help me solve this problem? All I can do is look bakc over what i've already done. :/

help!

Response to: Make up an impossible question! Posted January 17th, 2009 in Game Development

You are standing 20 metres away from a tree
The tip of a tree is 35 degress from the ground.
What is the height of the tree?

:obviously, you would use tan(35) x 20. i cant be bothered to give the answer, so use a calculator.

Response to: One of my first Posted January 14th, 2009 in Game Development

Here's an idea. It's the most crucial idea you'll ever get. I'll tell you how to do it step by step.

1) read people CC.
2) make changes to your flash.
3) reupload it to spamtheweb.
4) post a new loink of the updated flash.
5) wait for more CC

And there you go.
