The death penalty is underused. BTK got life in prision, thanks to a legal loophole in the death laws here in Kansas. If I could change one thing about death row, I would make the time on death row a minimum of 1 year. If you are innocent, wtf were you doing that close to a murder anyway?

Ok here is a map showing all of the gas stations already converted with hydrogen filling stations in CA. If they can do it in CA why not in the rest of the US?
http://www.fuelcellp..g/fuel-vehl_map.html

How many of those are privately owned? Do you really think the stingy pakistani guy we sold one of our stations to can afford to plunk down that much money? No. Fossil fuels are here to stay. Hydrogen has no market in the Midwest. Until Shell moves in and takes over this area, no one could afford to make the change. People here complain about gas when it hits $2.20

lots of good points

Your ideas make sense, but I think they're too extreme. Gas prices are rising because we're running out of petroleum, fair enough. We need to RAISE the price of gas to at least 3 dollars a gallon. People drive too much, and it they want to continue doing so they should pay for it. The gov't could use the money purely on researching new energy sources. They're out there, this world isn't just going to go kaput on us.

Plus if people were inclined to drive less, it would help the environment, which is something Bush has had trouble with.

We're not just going to run out of energy, there's plenty more petroleum on this planet for the US to rush in and nab. Eventually what you speak of will take place, but I don't foresee it in the near future.

Ok, wise guy. If we raise the price to $3 a gallon, then what? My dad was investigated for raising his station's prices 2 cents during the Gulf War. If we do what you are asking, we would have angry mobs starting riots. Riots usually are not environmentally friendly. Also, gasoline taxes that exist now already go to road maintenence.

We won't run out of energy anytime soon. We need to drill in more places.

Also, in response to all you hydrogen lovers.
