What could a DJ possibly do on Newgrounds? Bitching around the forums shouting out how awesome he is and how he gets laid after every gig?

Yeah, and some uber sweet free publicity when we hear some of our coolest trax being transitioned into his future playlists, unless of course free publicity isn't our forte' here...

Do you use a PC or a Mac? Judging by the preceding posts, you must use a PC. If Fruity Loops (or FL Studio as its company calls it now) is too fancy for your tastes, MixCraft might be a bit better for you, though you'd only be downloading a demo as well. MixCraft shares a lot of similar simple features that Apple's Garageband (which I primarily use) does (and even has some mixing/mastering features that have a more sophisticated side to it, like FL Studio and other more powerful DAWs).

Can't speak for everyone, but I thought I'd let you know there are other options out there...

Update:

I found my old-glitchy adapter, and I think I'll be temporarily using it, as I fear it will glitch again in the future and no longer be usable, like the replacement after it.

Pro-Tip for MacBook users: don't get those refurbished replacements you find online! My old one lasted me 'round 3 years, and the refurbished one, barely lasted a year and a half.

Response to: Nac'11 Beat-to-Game Discussion Posted September 9th, 2011 in Audio

Hey guys,

I'm sorry to announce this, but it looks like I'm going to have to pull myself out of this contest. I just found out this morning that my power adapter for my MacBook no longer works (typing this at school library), plus my new check card hasn't come either, so I can't get a replacement soon, and topping it off school has officially become a career at this point.

With all this going on, I won't have any real time to complete what I started. But, I believe that unlike previous contests I attempted to get into, I think I have a significant amount of the duration done, to where I could mix/master it now (that is, when I get a new adapter) at its current length, and just show off what it is and what it could have been.

If anyone here does happen to have and is willing to ship me a replacement, please send me a PM. Thank you, in advance!

My Power Adapter Died

I no longer will be able to have enough time to finish my entry into September's NAC! Plus real-life (that is, schoolwork) will officially be in FULL force by the time I get my replacement. So, sorry guys who were counting on hearing my 2nd wind.

If anyone's willing to ship over a 60w MagSafe MacBook adapter my way, send me a PM.

Unfortunately, no. Also, your song(s) that you have linked, should be uploaded to NewGrounds' Audio Portal, if you wish to officially enter this contest.

Because they're cheap, great quality, noise cancelling, and the best pair of headphones I currently own.

What luck, I was at the bookstore today, and it's overflowing with SkullCandy and iLuv, now, no iFrogz products in sight.

Best Buy was supposed to be a carrier, but instead I got to see what iFrogz closest competition, SkullCandy, sounded like for my first time in life. I demoed their Hesh and Aviator (noise canceling was boss), and they were not bad, though I think I still liked how iFrogz's products handled my cellphone's music apps.

I also noticed that iFrogz has now revamped their website, and I can't complain, it does seem even more awesome today! Apparently the amazing Toxix now comes in the leet color of bronze!

@josephdbae: et tu, newblood?

Apparently, the post may have a loophole behind it, as it isn't a song found on NewGrounds, though yes, there is indeed an appropriate thread for posts like that (I do in fact have a link to it in my sig, but that didn't click with me last weekend, did it?).

Now that I think about it, the name "Audio Advertisements" may sound a bit vague to newcomers of this forum, who want to, well advertise their audio. It might help to have a more direct-sounding thread like "Advertise Your Song/Music Here" or "Post Your Audio Here".

The fact that the thread is not stickied is another strong factor for others to not find it, even if they read about it. Or, who wants to consult that help thread every time they want to advertise?

If we are to respect rules, it'd help to be clear on how to follow them, no matter what thread we arrive at (is that possible? does it make sense? maybe).

So then perhaps the real "asshat" as LaForge put it, is the forum admin(s). I pick my battles, but I don't think the craters of the forums are dim-witted by any means. There's just a lot of room for improvement. There are so many tangents I could go off on for how these forums function right now, but I'm going to hold off on that, as they're not important. We're all still here waiting patiently for the "big forum reform" thing to happen.

onRageUp in my childcare days we had a sign in front of the video game playing area that said "respect the person that is playing". Calling people "stupid" and whatnot for mistakes they made in the games, were frowned upon heavily, and oft-punished. I do declare to God, I will find and send a parade of people I know to downvote/zerobomb every last song the truculent boor has, if I see more disrespect like this. Now let's get back to chatting about random facebook audio/non-audio pylons related stuff, NOW!

My choice?: iFrogz Toxix

Why?

A few factors played into this actually.

1. The price was good, though I think about that time there wasn't much of a price difference between iFrogz Toxix and Skullcandy Low Riders

2. Appearance. I think iFrogz marketed their product betterwith their coined term "EarPollution", replete with the radioactive symbols on the sides. To me it was a message that my ears would literally be polluted and/or immersed with sound.

...and it delivered. Listening to SoundTeMP's"low" 96kbps-quality Yetit Petit (of Ragnarok Online fame) never sounded so good

I guess I also wasn't too keen on skulls either; I look back now and think of how literal their brand name is, heh.

3. Comfort. They seemed to be the most comfortable looking. I believe I remember hearing someone on campus that had some comfort issues with the Sony active style, or I just thought it would feel weird as it looked.

---------------Quasi-biased story starts here-----------------

I used to actually have earbuds for college before going to get headphones (iLuv and one company I can't think of off the top of my had though theirs were the curl-around-your-ears type); I got tired of those earbuds after they started breaking, despite their unique features; one had an in-line volume control, the other could clip on to your clothes.

Anyways, I became an iFrogz "fan" ever since then, investing in their FallOuts to their currently most "pro" sounding Moguls.

The Mogul for some reason to me didn't have that same zazz feel I had with Toxix, though it REALLY brought out the bass, that I especially took note of in Urban Terror (gave the Beretta a heavier bite; though either headphone isn't too bad when it comes to directional applications like footsteps)

I've been curious about trying out SkullCandy one day, though I often hear on the internets that their similar class of headphones don't really compare to iFrogz's. One day, I'll find out for myself how their line of products lay out.

I currently make my beats using Ronin (Possibly the parallel/answer to SkullCandy's Hesh; price-wise a step down from Mogul), as my Mogul's gold plated plug decided to malfunction. I'd like to go back to Mogul when I can afford it again, just need to remember not to have it on for more than a couple hours.

Because the Ronin is cup-based, perhaps, I can keep them on longer, with no pinching.

I'm really on the fence about getting their new Frequency model, at least until I find some serious reviews about it...

cause if it is...youre a genius

I ended my first post with the conclusion of which pair I went with. And, mind you, it was back in 2009 (going for a 2nd degree by then, lol).

I probably wouldn't even go this far to ask about a set of headphones, though I do like to beat around the bush often. For the record, this thread is more geared towards what you'd use to listen to music with as opposed to the majority of related threads I see here that ask about the best headphones for producing music.

You're at the college bookstore... Posted September 6th, 2011 in Audio

...during your first year, or so.

You're looking for a set of headphones to plug into your handheld music player/computer, while you study...and stuff. You find three choices to go with, and you only have enough money to purchase one pair.

Choice #1

Choice #2

Choice #3

You haven't been told really anything about any of the preceding products let alone their brands.

If you had to choose one pair, which would you go for, and what factors (i.e. price, aesthetics, quality) would lead you to that choice?

In a while I'll share what choice I actually went with a few years back...and why...
