Masashi Hamauzu's Birthday
It's really exciting to find out that the day I upload a solo piano piece turns out to be the day that Hamauzu-san has his birthday! I thought it was such an incredible coincedence I even linked him to the upload of the song on his Facebook page!
This is a piano, and its name is JOHN.

Okay, folks, I think we've talked about 1/2 of the equation enough. We could all agree that in some way or another both companies have practically "milked" their own franchises and we're beginning to see a number of changes in the products due to certain factors like shifts in staff roles.
It's been a rather strange experience observing that Lucas seems to have, by "popular" belief, made the Star Wars series unattractive, after the advent of the prequels; well perhaps let it be known that there were some that thought the first movie in the "original" trilogy was the odd bear out from the others. There even was an Empire Strikes Back game out before an A New Hope on even arrived. Could it have been an omen? I don't know. Lucas never left but, he seems to be getting flak for staying in charge of the overall story/series, like there should be someone else at the helm if they do indeed do make episodes VII, VIII and IX.
I do know there's a number of ppl out there that believed that the Final Fantasy series went to pot after key players like Hironobu Sakaguchi (original founder of the series) and Nobuo Uematsu (original composer of the series) did the parting of the ways with Square after the merger with Enix.
The first Final Fantasy was supposed to be the last game, and Sakaguchi thought so as well, but it became so good, the company made more. While the FF series grew, Square experimented with new IPs and genres, with games like Einhander and Ergheiz. People seem to believe that after these guys left, essentially every franchise, even those by their subsidiaries or ones they worked on for the big three (i.e. Nintendo), seemed to have taken a hit! Were these guys magic?
I don't know. One things for sure, I'm not sure I'll ever fully understand how Mickey and Cloud could ever get along. Luke and Tidus would have so many things to chat about, they'd probably be good friends in no time! One other thing to note is that there were some new characters like Roxas and Kairi, that, tmk, have only appeared in Kingdom Hearts games. So, perhaps it would be realistic if there were some brand new characters in this collab. Perhaps this time around they could both come up with their own new characters to help better unite between their original IPs (i.e. Star Wars, Chrono Trigger, The Bouncer, THX 1138 and so on,,,,).

There is ONE song, I think may sound optimal for Destroyed City, but It's not really ready for good use. But if you like it. I'll do best to upload a nicer copy here.,,

Perhaps something along the lines of Blue Memoirs or Crystal Journeys. As for your "title", d00d....
Also, what do you think would be the optimal name for Square-Enix and LucasArts' game? Disney's collaborative work with Square-Enix was "Kingdom Hearts"; What's in a name? I believe at least half the name is rooted from Disney's Magic Kingdom, and it'll be a stretch more or less that I think the other half refers to the Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland?).
So with that concept, what sounds like a neat title, that could perhaps indicate to everyone that it was a collaborative effort between the makers of Star Wars and Final Fantasy, but doesn't have the names of any of their franchises in it?
At 9/18/11 07:51 PM, Klik wrote: Do you really wanna see a bunch of anime characters running around and ruining star wars or Indiana Jones?
Well either company will most likely think "if it'll sell, we'll do it!"
Darth Vader: I destroyed the Jedi Sanctuary.
Sephiroth: I lit a village on fire.
Darth Vader: I'm the father of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy.
Sephiroth: My mother gave birth to the strongest Cetra ever.
Darth Vader: You're not a Cetra.
Sephiroth: You weren't the Chosen One either!
Lara Croft: Don't you boys have anything else better to talk about?!
Darth Vader: -_-
Sephiroth: -_-
Indiana Jones: Lady, look, if we don't get these guys to make up, quick, big 'n' shiny over there's gonna make the invasions of the Nazis and Soviets combined look like a water balloon fight!
Tidus: I got a bad feeling---
Everyone else: SHUT UP!
Could it work? Should it work? What are your thoughts?
I remember when I first heard about Disney and Square-Enix planning to develop the first Kingdom Hearts game, and one of my first thoughts was how could that happen? I always thought they targeted decidedly different demographics, but that's just me, the most striking being age difference.
i personally thought that if any company had products that were more similar it would be between Square and LucasArts.
Square even made use of key character names from Star Wars (Biggs and Wedge), for a good number of their Final Fantasy games.
I believe their target audience was more in line, aiming towards mostly teens and adults. Another similarity would perhaps be the era they had one of their games take place in; American Graffiti was based in the 60s , while from what I gather FFVIII had a 60s vibe to it (perhaps the cars?).
I'm not really sure what type of story could stem from the use of Star Wars and FInal Fantasy characters, other than wondering how awesome it'd been to see an option to duke it out with Darth Vader and Sephiroth...in the same game! Or better yet witness a fight betwixt these great men gone bad.
I haven't played any of the Kingdom Hearts games, tbh, and I believe that if Kefka says it wasn't a good idea, I'll take his word for it.
Maybe Indy could help in finding the crystals that could be even more breathtaking than a skull of crystal!
What does everyone here say? Don't be shy. Be as detailed as you can in your thoughts 'n' opinions please?

Back in YouTube's "golden years" (05'/06' ish), one could practically find ANYTHING (technically an understatement; "A:F6" anyone?) on YouTube, let alone porn! I will say on-topic that it was YouTube that introduced me to softcore model Michelle Lynn (mostly non-nude, with extremely rare teases if any). Today, you won't any of her vids on YouTube.
YouTube has changed a lot since then, stripping (for a lack of better words) down on what stays and what doesn't; so like other posters have said on this thread, it's mostly educational stuff that you get to see any more skin than many of the webam strippers will show you (and I tell you there were PAGES of them (filtering fail) before I could get to that one webcam vid of the guy who was dabbling with the functions of his and turned himself into an animated shark...remember that one?)
I never had a chance to see the vid I heard about where someone commented "I'm 12 and what is this?", but I'm not a hardcore lover anyway.
I also say: it depends on the fetish. If you're a GTS-phile, like I am, YouTube will remain a place to feel---"really excited" (why did the Jenna vids have to fade away, those were awesome!).

I'm 24 and what is this???
The new Ivy looks all right to me. If there's anyone's boobs one should really focus on over the years of the franchise, its hers. They've always had the appearance of getting larger with every sequel. I can't really tell, but it looks like the increase has stopped at V.

I believe a more accurate title for the thread should be something like "Why Is the Sonic Franchise Hated?"
Mega64, a video-gaming-meets-Jackass group, has vented their frustration (seriously or not) about why the "new Sonic" sucks.
1. After the Sonic Adventure series ended, the ideas afterwards didn't really fly with them. It felt like there was something missing (it's their opinion, as there are others that are perhaps more open minded to the direction SEGA went, with games like Sonic Heroes and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).)
More likely the older sonic (perhaps like myself, though I never had a Genesis, let alone a Master System, which was before my time, but also perhaps the "un-official" first time Sonic had his own game [in the Master System's latest years]), want to hold onto how great Sonic was before the Dreamcast sank, and we were all introduced to Sonic Heroes (referred to some as "Sonic Adventure 3") on all the other systems at the time.
Heroes was perhaps the only Post-dreamcast Sonic [platformer] game that I played outside of Sonic Riders. It was different, it felt fresh, but I think the main reason it felt "away from home" for me, was because it wasn't playable on a SEGA system (the Dreamcast!).
I don't know what people who loved Atari's works when they were a hardware & software company think of their franchises now, but as someone who got to personally enjoy Sonic in its entirety one time (my previous consoles were mainly Nintendo systems) on Dreamcast, I think I feel a loss of SEGA's magic after Heroes was the first to make a dive into absolute "foreign" territory, with no connection to the Dreamcast at all.
On a side note: there were some sources that have claimed that even Sonic Adventure was originally going to be an RPG (perhaps the answer to Nintendo's Super Mario RPG series), which then explains the existence of RPG elements in the series like an in-depth story of all the characters, puzzle-solving, and the "Adventure Field" zone of the game(s). I can't imagine how excited (or ticked-off) fans of the Sonic franchise would be if Sonic Adventure did stay a full-fledged RPG. I don't know what I'd think, but I think I might've enjoyed it; chances are it may have shared the real-time elements we've seen in the Phantasy Star Online series (what's funny to me, is that for some reason I feel like PSO is Sonic Adventure in disguise, seeing Pioneer 2 as "Station Square" and Ragol as the "Action Stage".),
Heck even in Skies of Arcadia, there's perhaps a moment or two, you may ask yourself "haven't I seen this place somewhere before"?
I think the PSO development staff (who was Sonic Team, no surprise there!) made a big reference to Sonic Adventure, with the last part of the game, as it seemed reminiscent of a time and place in SA.
Franchises will change in time, but I really think that the most important things that made Sonic who he is should be focused on (if we're just talking about Sonic and not the franchise), such as the ability to jump and run really really fast. It'd just help to be at the dev's office to better understand the direction(s) they decided to go. "Will this attract new people to the franchise? Will older fans still cling to Sonic if we do this? How will this promote our image?" It's questions like these that are most likely, or at least should be, the ones that'll be asked behind corporate doors...
----------------------------------------
-------------------
All in all (TL,DR?): [The] Sonic [franchise] can't please everyone! We've all seen examples of this with pop stars and whatnot (Bieber Fever anyone?). Something's gotta sell, someway, and sometimes those will or will not depend on what we value most about someone or something.
Btw, Travis, your link is broken.

GarageBand comes free as a part of the iLife suite built-in to every new Mac, right out the box. If you're getting another version of Garageband, you'll have to then purchase a new version of iLife which will set you back an average staggering cost of $79.

Them's fightin' words, LaForge! I dare you to step past this post.
Well, apparenlty Lantaren, Garageband isn't for everyone, and sure FL Studio seems to be the only realistic DAW for a PC musician (that is if Acoustica's MixCraft 30-day trial of their more intuitive ( I thought so) software won't do it for you). I would give a more detailed opinion of my thoughts on FL Studio, but this thread's about what Garageband is to us.
As for this crud about the stereotypical GB user not being able to make a song without using pre-recorded loops they didn't craft themselves, I'm not one of them. I only used pre-recorded loops when I initially had no clue on how to make my own electronica rhythms. Only two songs I made had em' and that was in 2009 (none of which you'll find here). One of such songs was the Yetit Petit cover I did in 2009, (original midi regions in green, un-original loops in blue). In parts of it I actually did TRY to make my own drum beats, as none of the available Apple loops sounded close at all to the original, mainly at the end.
The new version of the cover, which I uploaded to NewGrounds, is 100% done by hand. I trained my ear to try and un-complicate the beats I was hearing in the original by SoundTeMP (if you're about to listen to this after hearing the new cover, it's recommended you roll down the volume quite a bit :P).

I pondered the same thing when I first started posting songs on NewGrounds! Basically, you display your song like that by:
1. Clicking on one of your songs
2. Copying the song's URL (the link)
3. Pasting the song's URL into your post's message box, with NOTHING else on the same line (resulting in this):
