This one might help, during a transition or break.

What plug-ins do you use? certain instruments drops an entire octave while some only drop a note.
I actually don't believe I have a plug-in that can drop it (as in AU?). And on the topic of pitch-bends, I was using a bass synth like the Deep Round Synth Bass or Orchestra Deep Bass. I only seem to be able to drop 60 points below the normal pitch. If there are instruments out there with "100" or as you indicated, a full octave drop, let me know.

oh, sorry about that, I should've also said that the instructions are a tad bit dated. Instead of looking on the pattern sequencer(YES, it's NOT there...anymore, just look directly in the upper left corner of the screen. The fruit should be right next to the title that says "FL Studio".
Hope this clears everything up for those who are using a considerably new version of FL Studio.
Appearance-wise:
Kongregate is Logic
NewGrounds is FL Studio
These character limits are rank!
Just want to know from everyone, the reason they believed that Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was so bad, it forced Square to merge with Enix.
I never had a chance to watch the film in full, but I know one thing I wasn't to happy to find out about it: the music was not composed by Nobuo Uematsu.
Any other factors those who have watched the movie, think? Please don't leave out any juicy details!
The bass drop comes in at 0:05 and 0:17.
You will most likely need headphones to hear the bass pitch drops. I know I did.
Hope that helps!

Problem solved.
FTA pulled himself out of the contest on the 9th, then posted a song anyways, then griped about how shitty it was, then after the contest was over, he posted two more updates to his song that he submitted, after already "dropping out" of the competition. After all of this, he then continued to bitch and throw a fit about someone submitting a song early, and that's so not fair to the other people who entered the contest, implying that he would have a shot in the top 8 if MSB was disqualified.
This makes no sense at all! He totally went out of his way to get offended, because FTA's refined submission was LATE. That's the same complaint that MSB's was early. I feel like someone would have to go pretty far out of their way (especially if they're not a judge for this competition) to get offended by frozenfire's top 8 pick. I appreciate that the rules were broken on MSB's submission for the monthly contest, but forgive me for believing that frozenfire's judgement counts a little more than usual this month.
Merlin, that's not at all what I was going for:
1.I didn't point that mistake out for my own benefit, but for everyone else, so that we all had a fair chance. MSB didn't read the rules, I said something about it (assuming it'd be noticed) and that was that.
2.I KNEW I wasn't going to have a chance to win. I had a situation, I fixed it, decided to complete my WIP, and had it submitted late as other priorties took over. I wasn't really expecting any lenincy about what I did, but I just posted it on the thread just so ppl could hear what was originally going for.
3. Another person made note of the problem after the top 8 were announced; I initially didn't understand it at first, thinking that MSB wasn't actually chosen, until I relooked the list, was shocked, and added upon what I said about MSBs submission breaking the rules, for added effect. Needless to say, that has managed to backfire in a big way, putting me on the bad side of two evil auras. I don't want to seem like a bad guy to anyone. And, for the record, I do apologize to others who may feel offended that I somehow B.S.'d my way back into the contest, without letting anyone really know, though I knew I was going to be late anyway.
Frozen Fire, Chronamut, I think some of us especially after the most recent post on this thread (FFs), may feel a bit perplexed about the real intention of this contest. I feel like I'm seeing some fine print, that wasn't immediately available at the start of this month's NAC: Winners MAY have their songs in the next version of the game? Other artists outside the competition may be looked into for their works to be plaed in the game?
If I'm understanding that right, there is perhaps a song or two from others [notin the contest] I'd love to nominate/mention; however, to save face, I'm not going to go ahead and dig myself a deeper hole for hijacking the rules.
If this was merely just a contest for us to show off how rhythmically gifted we are, I'd understand that. My head hurts now, I have nothing left to say, except I'm excited to see what songs will be playabe in the sequel to Symphonic Tower Defense!
Hey Garageband users, this time around, I need your help! I've been curious as to how to make a bass pitch drop sound the right way. I tried doing the pitchbend by hand, but I don't know if its limitations or what, but I can't seem to have the ending pitch part have an "indistinct" feel to it, as to not be able to know right away what pitch the bass drops to.
I don't know if I should look into getting an AU or software instrument that'd do the job on its own or what. I can only best describe it by the following example:
If there are others outside of GB that know how to achieve what they're hearing in the song, please let me know; perhaps I may be able to use the same technique/AU/synth.
FB'd & Tweet'd, best of luck ppl!
I even posted right under that submission that it was not uploaded this month! I guess it's not important for me anymore to look at dates of these submissions. I'll just stay quiet about things like this from now on (or just make note of it on *this* thread).
It's been one of the first few things I ever do, that is if I'm interested in entering an NAC. I just get the impression that NG is not fond of "whistleblowers". Not to say that either FrozenFire or Chronomut have intentionally skipped that post of mine, because it was seen as a derailment, instead of something helpful. These accidents can happen to anyone, anywhere!
I hope MSB enjoys his success, and the potential others aren't hurt by it. Let's see how this plays out...
Looks like I missed this party! NONE of the above links work!
if you don't know how already; it's great for those who are mad at the DAW itself.
I was doing some of my daily crazy searches on the internet on FL Studio and its "dark interface" (why is it dark? what DAW makes it look pitch black? etc.), and came across a thread that after a few pages talked about a finding someone found in another forum about the FL Studio fruit logo, that you see in the upper right corner (unless of course you modified the position of said box with fruit logo). :D
Basically here's how it goes down, verbatim:
1. Start Fruity Loops
2. In the main (pattern layout) window, you will see the small fruit logo.
3. Left click and double click on it a few times.
...
-addition:-
4. As you do this, look at the status bar - it should give you a message to stop clicking.
5. Ignore it and keep clicking
6. The message turns red (it really means it!)
7. Ignore it and keep clicking
8. Fruity Loops exits without warning!
I tried this with the demo version, but never seemed to make it to step 8. Funny stuff, and perhaps a nice way to set off some steam, when you are overly frustrated with something you're trying to do in the program.
I kid you not, I LOLIRL'd.
Just thought I'd share this, peace.
No deranged carrot-fruit thingies were harmed in the process of making this thread. Results may vary. Enjoy fiddling around FL with RED text!
Pong. There I said it.
Forget those Final Fantasy VIIs, those GoWs, and Pokemanz.
Everyone be saying that Atari's brainchild should be the game of all games because it paved the way for all the others. Hogwash. The real praise and polarity should belong to Table Tennis for Two. If it wasn't for incredible minds like William Higinbotham, then Nolan Bushnell along with other well known game makers and the rest of us would be playing the most underrated game of all time: OUTSIDE (or board games, if you prefer).
K, I'm done. Flame away.
This is an interesting find. It's perhaps not uncommon these days to see subtle or apparent references to anime in what we see everyday.
I remember feeling strange when one of the ad bumpers that our Comerica ATMs used to have some years back featured an anime version of an astronaut with space reflecting off the helmet.
There were some that had likened a once "new" logo for WGN America, to an increase in Japanese influence, though from what I gather it was based on classic hand drawn animation styles during the 70s/80s.

At 9/24/11 06:18 PM, TheKlown wrote: Did any of you beat Blue Stinger? I think I did a long time ago but the final boss annoys me and if you die at him you have 3 minutes and 45 seconds to keep monsters away from janine which is easy with the gattling gun but its annoying to replay the same part over and over again. The final boss is so stupid, all it does is breath fire out and you have to run back forth trying to avoid it and shoot it with rocket launchers and so on. But its health bar barely loses anything when you shoot at it and the fire catches you sometimes because the way it breathes fire out.
It's so freaking dumb, and then when i eat something to replenish my health the fire hits me again and again. It's freaking ridiculous. Who in their right mind thought that was an awesome boss to have at the end of the game? Was it cool to see such a big monster on the dreamcast back then, I'm sure I thought it was awesome at the time but its cheap and it annoys me that its basically luck and not skill to beat the final boss. You will get lucky if you avoid the fire by running back and forth and shooting at it. It's really dumb.
I used a codebreaker on the game only for the cash part(Am I the only one who found it annoying to constantly get cash each time it spurted out an enemy? Freaking dumb!), and I can't even use the infinite health code because then I'd have to restart a 5-8 hour game(depending how long it takes for you to get to the end).
Yeah, the final boss is a doozie, but if you can time your healing right and be at the right distance, you should be much better off.
If you're interested I have a walkthrough video covering the final boss battle. It happens to be one of my most favorite Dreamcast games of all time...of ALL TIME! Sorry that the video quality isn't that hot (recorded from my MacBook's webcam), but its all I got for now.
If you have any questions/comments, don't be shy, send them my way anytime.
You could virtually consider my channel a staple for Blue Stinger fans, even if unofficial!
To perhaps continue the pathway I'm seeing with your current "repertoire" of Dreamcast games, I'd recommend getting Soul Calibur.
When anyone has time, I'd love to have these three songs reviewed. Please and thank you!

I got to go grab a pen and paper for this:
1. I think I was about 5 and remember that for the longest time, I couldn't play Keith Courage: In Alpha Zones (TG-16) alone. Why? Because I always ended getting scared from seeing...THE TITLE SCREEN ANIMATION AND MUSIC! I'm a bit used to it now, but I still think its quasi-glitchy nature is not feasible for everyone.
2. Speaking of Keith Courage, I also didn't like doing the boss battles alone either; I literally get the willies when I see the that one familiar background appear, when I make the final descent within an underworld zone. Boss 4 (Mr. Roboto) was one I was always way too scared to face (used to think that one silver part on the side was an eye, but it's really just the shoulder I think).
3. There was a game we had on the Amiga 500. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it, though if I recall correctly it ended with the word "Run". Basically you're driving across this desert (in Egypt I think), having to avoid obstacles. If you crash, you see one of the creepiest 2D animations of a skull laughing, you'll probably ever see in your life (or at least I thought it was to me). The goal was a pyramind (perhaps the Great Pyramid?) at the end, if I remember correctly; even if you made it all the way there, you'd crash into it and get the same death animation. Quite odd, if you ask me...
4. Audio wise, I'd get initially creeped out watching my big brother play that one Star Trek (Amiga) game, that every time it started up, it had that god-awful loud bass humming alert-like sound when the Starfleet logo appears before the Star Trek title screen appears; Prince of Persia was also a music thing I didn't enjoy seeing my bro play in the dark, especially when he ran out of time, or saw Jaffar.
5. For a while, though not so much today, it wasn't fun seeing Zool's (Amiga/SNES) face pasted over a screen after you ran out of lives. Over time I developed a fondness for the character.
6. The GODS game over music wasn't something I could really stomach for some time.
7. Chrono Trigger (virtually the ENTIRE game), and I was 11 by the time I first started to play it! I played save states of others, as it was a rental. Very dark, very spooky. Many scary music moments for me, heck even the "locked item/door" jingle was not something I could listen to at night. Do I even dare mention the name "LAVOS" here?!
8. Maybe not me so much, but surely there were others that wanted to hide away when they just lost their last life in Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire. Of all the game over screens I've seen in Star Wars games, I think Shadows' one was the scariest (score one for Xizor; death music included)!
9. Scorched Tanks. Got creeped out when the music that's usually used for the results was used as the title screen music, during one of the times I played it. It was the last time I played that game.
10. The next one I can think of is unbelievable. There was this game on the Amiga called Boppin'. The game itself wasn't scary. The company known as Accursed Toys had a very "creative" way to have themselves remembered for this game: their in-game logo video animation. It is perhaps because of this version of the game, that you won't find it on any of the other versions (Windows, DOS and other systems); in fact I believe it was requested that the other versions have a "bright clean" animation before it'd be accepted on other systems. It doesn't scare me as much today, but I will challenge ANYONE today to watch the sequence in the dark, full-screen, and with headphones on with volume up, regardless of age.
This was supposed to be a KIDS game ladies and gentlemen!
I think I'll stop here, as some have already mentioned games like Super Metroid, that I would have mentioned myself.
Basically, I guess I'm a real wuss, when I think about it! But now I've moved on and found NewGrounds, where in some cases I'm seeing brand new scariness, that sometimes scares me more than my childhood [VG] memories!
Anyone played Resident Evil 2 as a kid, and then open up their siblings save state of Ocarina of Time (given they came out the same year) to find out that the Town Market has become Raccoon City (even the frickin' pre-rendered backdrops are there (though they were there before the crisis))? OMG I hated that experience.
Gratzu, all! Hope to be able to have another go at this type of thing again in the future...

how long does the song need to be?
SURE! The game collab would need some great acting, in this case VOICE acting.
9 times out of ten they'll both use voice actors/actresses that weren't the original ones from the original series (will say, it was awesome hearing Denis Lawson voice Wedge Antilles ( the character he originally portrayed in the Star Wars movies) in Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader).
It would be nice to hear some of the original actors voicing their respective characters, or just "cameo" as a different character (Mark Hamill has done some great voice acting, outside of his live-action roles; game-wise he was Emperor Griffon in Dark Cloud 2).
can we please end the derailing now...?
I think Rahm's referring to the fact that kirby should've been placed HIGHER than he was, that his song was worth more win!
