A birthday musician is YOU!

I know...I'm still a nitwit when it comes to mastering so I decided to never buy any 3rd party mastering plugins. I really do everything that relates to mixing/mastering with FL Studio's plugins.
You're serious?

Oh, you mean *this* guy?

@FaeryTaleAdventurer sorry we're tearing your article apart, it's still really relevant and would probably come in very handy for people that can't decide which DAW to use. ;)
Hey, it's nothin', Liquid. And yes, perhaps this can answer visiting/new NG musicians' questions about DAWs to get.

I have a feeling these ratings are kinda biased. Like Step said, FL's interface works perfect for me and lots of others, but a lot of people complain that it's 'too easy' and 'unprofessional' just because they started out with other, 'harder' DAWs like Live or Cubase.I think a lot of the bias against FL comes from the colorful interface. People look at it and immediately assume it's "unprofessional" just because it's colorful... as if a DAW has to be a flat pallet of grays and blacks or something to be "professional" in appearance.
I'm in the same boat, I find the interface easy to work with, in fact, I prefer it over most other DAW's I've tried (And I've tried quite a few).
I'm sure there is some one-sidedness to how these things are measured. After looking at the blog posts as well as the comments of those posts on the site I think I see the reason why everything's rated the way they are. And yes someone did comment about hoping Bitwig gets rated. Nothing's ever set in stone for stuff like this, and I'll admit, they only rated the Producer or highest vesions of each software; Sonar wouldn't really have that "5" in mixing/mastering if they evaluated other levels of the software.
As for FL's interface, I never thought of it as unprofessional, just something that's very different from other DAWs. It's like being in a dark cave with a rainbow in it. To those who like the pattern-based approach to music production, more power to them. I can't convince them to like something else if they really enjoy what they're using now.
Synthtopia'sperhaps a bit more palatable in it's ranking system, as it basically let's everyone cast their vote and comment about their DAW life, aaaand it's insanely thorough addressing essentially every DAW known to be used, well at least internet-wide.
Musicradar, while maybe biased (okay what place really isn't?), offers a full review of all the DAWs it has in this list.

On top of that, a lot of those features are based quantitative factors when much of the value is qualitative, especially FL Studio and Studio One.

That said I still prefer breaking down which DAW is going to be best for someone based on their needs and budget.
I get you, though Studio One and Bitwig are still relatively "freshman" DAWs to my mind. Factoring in needs and budget are important, true.
I'm a Sonar guy now, though not Producer level yet. I feel it has much of what I want, so I'm definitely hoping for an epic Black Friday sale before upgrading.

I'd personally say it depends on your DAW.
Yes I do. I usually will listen to it for a couple of reasons: to see how the quality matches up with other ppl's music, and see where I stand in comparison to songs I made in the past.
Never lose hope or passion for music making.
I started with pencil and manuscript paper, long before I started doing anything with GarageBand or any other DAWs. I come from a musical family, and had a musical upbringing. All of that can go to waste or mean nothing, if you don't apply what you've been given, be it a born-gift, schooling, whatever.
No one's perfect; if you can only make 2 measure stubs per project, then hey, you're starting SOMEWHERE.

Really? So, your work doesn't have free open wi-fi? I completely agree about not wanting to use up precious cellular data. It's been a nasty time for me being more frugal in that respect. My Skype mobile doesn't even really update itself unless I'm actually using the app (might be something related to my settings, I don't know).

Don't sweat it too hard guys. Hopefully we all have portable back-up drives (w/ Time Machine) at this point, in the case that things do go far south in the Mac world.
Ah, Windows and its sound driver priorities. I haven't used Camtasia in years and don't really mind not having it anymore. If no one can aid you with that software, I recommend Microsoft's Expression Encoder
It took a little while to set up from not having it record my voice to not recording from my webcam. Sound-wise it gave you a choice to what sound you wanted to capture. Did I mention it's free? The only downside to the non pro version is no II Stream or H.264 encoding support. Pro's not available as it's not really supported anymore, but I'm mostly satisfied with the results I got.
What? You were expecting Thanksgiving turkey? Well, while you won't find that here, this thread's definitely features something to be thankful for: a cloud app that specifically targets all your music project files be they .flps .bands .cwps .als, whatever, for you to share, back-up, and collaborate with!
Gobbler is the name of that app/service.
If you got SONAR, you'll be treated with built-in integration!

Hey guys I was listening to a popular song, and was checking out the comment pages, only to discover that there seems to be some sort of redirect/refresh thing happening, but it doesn't do go anywhere.
I'm just wondering if it's just me, or if anyone else has had this issue recently. I've tested this in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Chrome, same results.
And to answer your question, yes, i've already let Wade know.

Well, I am in nursing school, but I am beginning to feel that it isn't [for] me.
It's certainly a great education for health care, though it's an experience that I probably wouldn't be applying that much in real life, let alone an elbow injury.

There was make believe on Gaia Online?
Just wondering if we got any nurses that also happen to be Newgrounds users.
Hey guys, how ya doin'?
A buddy of mine's composing music for a major project called Beyond-Human. From what I've heard it's a Metroid meets Castlevania style game, with possibly some other surprises thrown in.
Here's a trailer of the game. If you like what you see, help make the launch successful on their Kickstarter page!

This game had a music that i need for now. It is a acoustic piano music. That music is so beautiful.. I have downloaded it, but i acidentaly deleted.
So. If anyone know the name of the game or the name of the music, plz, replie. I really need this :3
Sorry, I think you'll have to be more specific than that. There are surely quite a few games here even during that time that had a lot of acoustic piano music.
Hey ppl, need a vintage/analogue synthesizer, but have no access to (or are seeking alternates to) ones like 3xOSC or Macigal 8 Bit Plug?
DreamStation Dxi2 may be the solution you're looking for. It's a synth which features a combination of classic General MIDI-like and oscillator manipulation instruments/presets plus the ability to make your own sounds.
Note, though this synth comes with the current version of SONAR, you don't need SONAR to run this synth. However, you will need a Windows PC to use this synth (sorry, Mac/Linux, ppl; maybe run with Wine?)
Here's a video demonstrating the sounds and capabilities/limitations of DreamStation Dxi2.
Hopefully, this synth will become useful in what you need. The best part is that it's free.
