I think the only way to get over your feeling is to work through it and talk about it with whoever may be involved. Hurting yourself would probably only be a quick fix, and would also drive others away from you at the same time. If there's something bothering you, you should talk about it; and not just with the internet i mean.

It sounds like you, as well as your mom are just giving up on yourself and trying to discount the possibility of being "normal." It wouldn't really surprise me if a lot of this could be avoided if you did just suck it up and go to a counselor or try the school. Trust me, public school isn't so bad.

Ok well yes what you did was dumb. What you can do now though is talk to your girlfriend and be honest with her. There is no sense in feeling guilty about it and hating yourself or whatever, you have to move on and learn from the experience.

Interesting replies, thanks. She said she hasn't had to take an medication for it for month's now, so I guess that's a plus. I'm mostly concerned that I could end up getting involved seriously with her and then be presented with problems I hadn't really considered, I'm also wondering how the disorder might affect her later on in life if we were to end up getting serious. What if the picture wasn't that great quality, would you still have let it be submitted? I honestly wouldn't let anything pass if it was submitted after the deadline regardless of quality. There was like a month to do these pictures and for some reason people decide to try and submit stuff at the last minute? What excuse can anyone have for not submitting the picture like 5 minutes earlier? It's not like they have to go out of the house and show up at class or work or something to submit it, they can just do it whenever they feel like it from home.
