Response to: My theory of life. Nothing exists. Posted January 22nd, 2009 in General

Correlation does not imply causation. Simply because we see a relationship between the way we manipulate the world on the scale we occupy and other manipulations at different scales doesn't mean all scales are manipulable.

There's no reason to suspect design is intentional amid infinite chaos... it could just be coincidence that certain things are and are not. But I wholeheartedly reject the idea that things (in general) aren't. Human logic is applicable within the confines of our experience, and existence is certainly our experience. Our logic applies here. Thusly, we know that things which do not exist aren't communicable. We communicate. Therefore: we exist.

Your argument attempts to take advantage of the fact that man does not grasp the concept of the infinite and squirrels away a ridiculous assertion within the confines of the inability to comprehend the infinite. That's my problem with it.

I'd pretty much toss my endorsement out for those as well. Never owned a pair, but a buddy did and the sound quality on those was superb.

You don't have legs? All of those movie locations strike me as pretty much entirely downtown. My first date with my first girlfriend ended with us having walked a solid 2-3 miles. From the local cinema to a park half a mile away, then downtown to Friendly's... a solid 2 miles from the park. Neither of us were licensed drivers, either. Nothing keeps the conversation going like moving scenery.

Dude, you should go all out with an industrial theme to your room. Like, draw pipes and gears and other random machinery shit all over your walls, paint it in, and then paint the actual pipes to match. It'd make the place that much sweeter.

Make witty remarks during the stupid parts (but not so loudly that you disturb others). Just generally chill out and have fun while watching the movie. Go grab a drink somewhere afterwards (coffee, ice cream, whatever; wherever).

Have fun, kiddo.

Bose is generally considered the industry leader when it comes to sound. That set is $139.95 (USD), which seems to fit within your budget. I've been dying to grab some decent Bose headphones for ages now. I checked the manual, but it didn't specify the frequency range, I'm assuming it reproduces all quite well, though I don't actually know. Perhaps try a google search for something like "Best headphones for quality bass?" or "Leading headphones reviewed."

Response to: Fighting a Chick Posted January 21st, 2009 in General

The way I see it is this: if you're the sort of pussy who is even ABLE to be physically injured by a woman's strike in the first place, you should definitely be allowed to hit back.

I don't hit women because I don't incise them to hit me in the first place. Failing that, I don't hit women for the same reason I don't let myself seriously fight ANYBODY: I'm capable of ending another's life with my bare hands. Tae Kwon Do has taught me that with that sort of power comes the responsibility to avoid it's use at all costs, excepting that my own life is endangered. And due to the escalating nature of all fights, I don't ever want to have to combat the will of the as-yet-unknown blind rage I undoubtedly possess.

Rough-housing is one thing. Organized sport is another. But physical struggles tempered with testosterone and anger are an entirely different animal.

Leave it out on the desk when you vacate the oval office. If you follow these simple instructions, you will live a long and prosperous life after your presidency. If you ignore this correspondence, Benjamin Franklin's ghastly apparition will appear unto you nightly to present you with a fresh pearl necklace of his own invention."

M-Bot is just the one who PM's you because your review was deleted. In actuality, it was deleted by a review moderator who decided your review broke the review guidelines (after enough users had flagged the review to bring it to the moderator's attention). Clearly, they weren't wrong in their decision. Your review makes NO attempt at being helpful toward the flash author, you just complain that the game sucked without explaining why, then make the halfhearted offer of "next time MAKE the game," as if he hadn't already spent time and effort in creating and submitting the game.

Quit'cher bitchin'.

Word, dude. Starting last spring I did basically the same thing. Fuckloads of pushups, fuckloads of running (larger distances and only once daily), and understanding what and what not to eat a little better. Then this fall I bought myself an iron gym, so I've been doing a lot more pullups, situps, and dips. Last summer I wasn't by any means presentable on the beach, but the jawline results were unmistakable.

Isn't it great going to check out the hot ass you see walking by and instead meeting her eye? Good for you, man.

I used to weigh 230lbs. and now I'm a fairly lean 185. I'm looking forward to Spring's final fatness drop after I get back into my running routine, followed by 6-pack E-day.

Response to: What's a term from far away? Posted January 20th, 2009 in General

Mirages are the actual term for something like that. Well, y'know how on hot days the pavement looks like it's got water on it off in the distance? That's what a mirage is. Same thing happens on desert sands, people get fooled into thinking it's water and rush over only to find more desert.

Maybe make your secret term a play on vision rating and the number scale? "Yo man, my vision was 10/5 on that chick."

You don't really 'see' it working. Mostly because you kids (not you, y'all) LOVE to get your panties all bundled up over anything. When something's ignored here, it's usually because the person was too obvious with their trolling, or nobody saw it. The signs of it working are all on their end, though.

Picture Eeyore sighing. That's what a lame spammer troll does when nobody takes his bait.

As for why it didn't work at school: you probably were reacting the whole time. Or you still hang out near those kids on a regular basis. If it's annoying enough, just literally treat them as if they aren't worth your time. Nothing's more deflating to someone who's annoying just for the sake of it.

Response to: A question for the Mods. Posted January 20th, 2009 in General

You mean you put up with someone trolling you for months on end without severing their ability to communicate with you? Usually people use the 'block' button, yo.

Anyway, we want people to ignore spam and shit on here because 95% of the time those spamming are only doing so FOR THEIR OWN ENTERTAINMENT. They're trying to get a rise out of someone, anyone. The only way they can enjoy themselves is by seeing someone take them seriously and flip out about it. If you aren't responding, they're not interested. It's kinda like playing dead when a bear has poked its head in your tent. Get it?

Kol-Belov. I'm smitten with his animation and art style. Transitions are just so brilliant I can't handle it. Pustota has been my favorite flash of all time since the day I saw it. I still watch it every once in a while, which is more than I can say for most flash movies, including the other ones on my favorites list.

Response to: types of people you hate Posted January 20th, 2009 in General

I try not to, usually. When I find myself resenting someone simply for BEING, that's when I usually feel the need to step back and put things into perspective. Sure, I disagree with certain ways of thinking; absolutely, I resent certain attitudes when they clash with my easy-going nature; without a question, I wish certain types of people could be convinced to change their ways. But hating them for any of the above clashes with my belief that any individual can be taught to improve, regardless of whether I'm right in that thought.

Hate just has such shaky justifications. Honestly, it's difficult for me to buy that anybody really truly HATES anything. If you can reason, and/or feel empathy, and/or feel sympathy, and/or communicate with others, almost all of which are required to develop hatred in the first place, then you can be shown enough circumstances surrounding a person's lifestyle choices to come to understand them.

Response to: 400x60 Posted January 20th, 2009 in General

I remember during the site's redesign back in '04 or early '05 they had text signatures disabled for a brief period I was pumped. Text in sigs looks terrible site-wise compared to no text allowed, simply one image.

But, I love the new sig size fully. I also have yet to memorize it, I was under the impression that it was 595 x 50, which is why my current sig is slightly off-centered, though I've not bothered yet to correct it. It DID always bother me that the old signatures didn't extend all the way across the width of your post, though. In order to make your sig look all snazzy and centered you had to sacrifice 150+ pixels of horizontal sig-space, which plain sucked. I wasn't enthralled with the loss of 10 pixels, but I understand the reasons behind the change. The administrators don't want their site's forums being shat up by user's terrible sense of individuality. By limiting vertical room that much more, and eliminating animated .gif's, there's that much less of a division between the site's overall sexy design and the riff-raff's terrible signature pictures.

Anyway, there's no way they're going to change it back or increase the size, that I can tell. And I'm glad it's staying this way. Everything looks that much better overall.

At 1/20/09 03:33 AM, Samen wrote: In a world where companies put one or two movies or games on each disk, that space is kinda wasted.

Ha ha, dude, that's the point. The result of the availability of more space on the disc means companies are able to put out a higher-resolution copy of the media with lossless sound and the like. If you were content with previous resolutions and formats, you could still do things that way. Go ahead and copy all your old VHS tapes onto your HDD, see how much space they take. I bet you could fit DOZENS of movies on a single blu-ray disc if they were sampled straight from VHS.

I dunno, blu-ray discs are cool, but I don't think discs themselves are the future of media. I'm pretty sure flash memory is either the next big thing or the one after. Just needs to get cheap enough to make it worthwhile, but flash memory isn't as susceptible to damage as discs are. Plus, formats can be upgraded without consumers necessarily needing new hardware to take advantage. Combined with (as Jonas already mentioned) streaming media, discs and tapes can be forever ditched for an old favorite: CARTIDGES!

Response to: Your awesome body traits? Posted January 20th, 2009 in General

Hangovers, headaches, and the like are typically signs of dehydration. That you don't have them is mostly indicative of your tendency to stay hydrated.

I guess what I'm most proud of with my body is the mind that came with it. I learn quick, lead well, speak well, and most importantly respect that others are equally as proud of themselves for similar reasons. Lots of people like 'mindless entertainment', personally, I can't stand it. If my mind isn't constantly stimulated and forced to think, learn, or solve-problems, I'm bored.

Nobody mentions the fact that a false positive is a distinct possibility. It could be that neither of you have chlamydia at all, and you've just had a huge fight over a mistake.

Doesn't sound like you have it to me, but who knows what's right and what's wrong here... I've only got your secondhand account of the situation. I don't think I'd put up with that sort of accusatory bullshit either.

I would recommend to her that she get a second opinion test. It's not often that those sort of tests return false positives, but it's often enough that it's definitely a possibility. You probably don't need to bother getting yourself tested (since you're pretty sure there's no way you have it) pending the results of a re-test on her part. Good luck with it.
