Response to: compressors Posted March 29th, 2006 in Audio

Whatever program you made it in should have the option to export the audio to mp3, which is a compression of the wave. If you fool around with the rate at which the audio samples, you'll be able to reduce the filesize. I'm pretty sure your audio is fairly close to the limits set for the Audio Portal anyway, so it shouldn't take that much of a loss in quality to do the trick.

Newgrounds saves space and load time by loading one extremely small image and just repeating it over and over again to make the background.

If they didn't do that, all of the images that there are here would take well over 5 minutes for any dial up user to load. It's really the only option for successful sites that want to look decent as well.

So save that image, and just repeat it right next to itself over and over again in paint or something and eventually you'll have constructed the NG background.

WAIT! Don't kill me! I've got a wife, kids, and over 3,000 eggs laid in the Jelly!

The kicker is that the kid about to step on the insect is eating a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich.

For Christmas '04 I bought my mom the entire Farside Collection. I've since read it twice.

I'm going to have to say Muyburrito's STOP THAT sigs deserve some recognition. Not to mention the good ol' Opposites Attract signatures that a couple of the chat regulars are sporting.

I've also always been rather fond of Sanjay's ability to put out some crazy signatures. Vibes and Elfer's sigs hold a special place as always.

But my current favorite in terms of just plain coolness is Maus's right now. Maus written as a mouse fascinates me.

I spent the entirety of my Math class trying to devise a way to fit my name into some sort of cool animal or something. But to no avail.

Oh, and one of my favorites for the political incorrectness was the Black People signature. I'm sure most know what I'm talking about.

Response to: how do you unsubscribe from xboxliv Posted March 28th, 2006 in General

Just call them up at 1 (800) 4MY-XBOX and tell them that you want to cancel your account. You'll need to have the information on the credit card you used to register the account with, your username, and whatever else they ask to confirm that it is indeed you cancelling your account.

I had to cancel my room mate's account.

Also ask for a refund on the rest of your unused balance. I don't know if they collect for a full year if you've used a decent amount of it, but I know that I cancelled mine the day that it ran out and they renewed it and recieved a full refund on the 50 bucks for the year that I didn't actually use.

Response to: aliens real? or not! Posted March 28th, 2006 in General

No, "aliens" are not real if we're discussing the way the media has portrayed them as these benevolent or malevolence beings that abduct humans and crash at Roswell. Otherwise, I see no reason why Earth is the only planet ever to have all the right resources for life to thrive. There's even evidence that Mars could have once supported life and might in the future when the sun expands further in size.

I guess we'll wait and see.

Response to: Mormons (from Utah) Posted March 28th, 2006 in General

One of my suitemates is Mormon. Something that he was reminded of when he came back drunk as hell one night.

"Hey" (said in an odd and overly exhalent voice)
"... are you drunk?"
"Yea."
"Aren't you a Mormon?"
"Yea..."

He's kind of an odd one. He doesn't talk to anyone in the suite really besides the neccessity and is gone upwards of 16 hours out of the day, every day.

Seems nice enough, but he's still weird. I'm sure not all of them are like that.

I'm fairly certain that you need to go through the new hardware wizard to install the drivers that will allow your hard drive to converse with your computer. Basically, when you put the hard drive in there should have been a little pop up in the system tray that said "NEW HARDWARE DETECTED" which you would click on and then the wizard guides you through installing the drivers for it.

Did it come with a disk? Check the manufacturor's website.

Super Metroid, Earthbound, Every Mario Kart, Every Mega Man X, and all Zeldas.

Otherwise, there's a bunch of others that I probably wouldn't mind having, but don't require them for life.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if I spent more time playing the old games that I've downloaded to the Revolution than the newer games that the Revolution offers. It all depends on how decently integrated the stuff is. Who knows?

Response to: I'm kinda confused here... Posted March 28th, 2006 in General

Freshman means a person in their first year out of four of either High School or College. Sophomore is the same thing only applied to the second year, Junior the same for 3rd years, and Senior the same for 4th and final years.

Try wikipedia next time.

Response to: hooking your computer up to your tv Posted March 28th, 2006 in General

Grab yourself an S-Video out cable, and hope that your computer has the proper S-Video out slot (a roundish plugin with holes in it) and that your TV has either an S-Video in or you have a converter to hook it up to one of the video inputs.

I've got an S-Video out on my laptop and bought the cable. The only problem is the resolution is awful, so it doesn't work well if you want to just use the TV for computing, but for video games and movies is was awesome (I've yet to test out video games).

All that's next is for me to pick myself up some quality speakers so I'm not watching an awesome movie on a good TV with the sound coming from my shitty built-in laptop speakers.

Hah. That's just one of the factors. She wears tight shirts to show off her flatness, and then baggy pants to hide what little curve she possesses. The effect is that she reminds me of a 12 year old anorexic girl. She also wears too much makeup for my tastes. And then her songs are obnoxious (IMO, of course).

But if I knew anything about her personality, or cared to, I'm sure she could be quite attractive provided her personality complimented her style in a positive way. However, judging from her music (which theoretically should be heavily influenced by her personality) I'm not interested.

I plan to become famous, so, I'll let you know how she is. *ka-wink*

Sounds good, Dave the canadian lifeguard/nerd. ;-)

Haven't looked at it in over a year I'm sure. Last I checked though sawing at my fingers with the regular ol' knife blade didn't do anything.

I'd be careful, of course. I've never been a clumsy person, and also got the whole 'knife handling' badge or whatever when I used to be in Boy Scouts.

Maybe I'll bring it to the meetup, maybe not. Odds are I'll forget completely. Thanks for the offer though. :-)

My only suggestion for the next Aussie meetup would be this: make it open-invitation to everyone. The more, the merrier.

That's cool. I'd go to meet up with Jaems my home-boy with fucked up digits that America won't let me call no matter how hard I try. Oh, and of course the Captin' and LNboiz. Only problem is that I live about... 7+ timezones away. Perhaps I should start diggin a hole?

3. How many users are willing to sex up FIGMENTUM in front of Captain-Jack's digicam?

Sharefootageplz.

Let the discussion commence.

Seems like you guys'll have a merry ol' time at the meetup yet again. Perhaps if it's the same time as the Philly meet we'll coordinate some webcammage for the occasion in true nerd fashion. That'd be cool, and complete geekness, and cool.

Who said she was interested in me?

That's why you talk to her first. Obviously nobody's going to be like "OH OK LET'S DATE" if some of the first words you say to someone include "Hey wanna go out?"

Since it seems like you've talked to her a little bit just open up the conversation channels a little bit more. Girls will go for the guy with the strong personality who's friendly but clear on what he's interested in.

Or she could just be someone cool to hang out with. Maybe a little reverse psychology would work, switch it up on the girl by making it so YOU'RE the one being the tease.

I don't know. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I dunno, I have a Swiss Army Knife, but it was always so dull that I never bothered to use anything on it. I would just play with the ones that were the easiest to extend and put back, and then I think once I cut a branch in half with the blade with the heaviest serrations.

Gwen does absolutely nothing for me. If I were ever attracted to her it would have to be entirely personality-based, but since I don't plan on ever having a single conversation and find all of her songs to be obnoxious.

No doubt.

Response to: Wrong to find Freshman girl hot? Posted March 28th, 2006 in General

Talk to her! Damnit, there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with a 1 year age difference, no matter where you two are located age-wise.

The real trouble is in a 5 years or so from now when you still find the same hot High School freshman while you're in College. That's when things start to get illegal.

So yea, conversation is good. Go for it. Who cares what others will think?

Not sure why you're so upset about this, since this seems to be your first topic. But yea, when topics get locked, it's because they were locked within 7 days of their creation and were generally created out of ignorance of the rules, poor topic title to topic body correlation, or lack of searchbar use before posting a new topic.

There's always a good reason, whether or not we choose to state one.
