You seem to be uncertain on how to develop yourself but showing us your work is the best step to take.
NOOOO! you took away her psychic powers, you fool, how is she going to join the Avengers now? she will have to start hanging out with Spider-man.
0.o Psychic powers. shading (where you have it) is ok, but there is not enough variation in tonal values across the figure, the arms look flat because of this. the part where the left arm enters the jacket sleeve, the sleeve wraps around the arm to sharply leaving an ugly point. the proportion of the upper arm is ok, but as it goes down to the forearm it gets very slender, then to the psychic power hands.
Step 1: lay out in an erasable medium.
Step 2: begin inking in.
Step 3: make impromptu changes that destroy the composition.
Step 4: frantically add more lines in and around mess-up to try to hide it.
Step 5: admit defeat.
Step 6: finish work and post on newgrounds anyways and hope no one notices.
don't know if this answers your question, but this is the workflow i go with on a daily basis.
Decided to go with a larger canvas for this one ( 9x12 size paper) not 100% done, still some things i want to do with it (like add a background and shade some of the woman's arm, but wanted to get some feedback on it as it sits now.
:O that chick must have psychic powers just like her

i see the body has a shadow, but the wings don't, i also don't get the feel that it is sitting on a solid plain, the ground level and wall seem to co-exist on the same axis, adding shadows from the fire that are cast on the ground and a wall plain will help to add depth. not a fan of the boarder either; no comment on that other than i don't like it. where you do have shadows, IE the base of the wing extending away from the right side of the subject, it goes from dark blue to medium blue in an extremely short time, it needs to be gradient'ed out more like it is on the left.

don't tell me what to do, your not my mother.
the orb seems out of place within the context of the two other figures, if it was also done in a smokey transparent look, but with a blue tint it might fit better. post more to get more of a response.

he is obviously not human, he has horns and what looks like wings, for all you know he could have the neck of an owl O.o

? you have noticed a lot of artists have been posting their art on the art form? interesting i will have to look into this. anyways, i like the first one the best, did you use a tablet to do it or was it just a mouse? (assuming it is digital) looks like it might have been an ink press.
Nothing in life has a black outline. I would start with lightening up the lines and since it seems to be a night shot, darken up all the shading, the folds in the sheet don't seem to follow any shape, i would suggest drawing them nude first so you can get the figure correct. he could also use a cast shadow, as for the neck that can be figured out when you draw the figure without the sheet.

ha ya, that's probably because i was referencing about three different images to lay this out, and I did not keep very good consistency through them. I'll do another in Bruce Timm style though, and i will do it (harder) better (faster, stronger)

Zebra stripes seemed like a good idea at the time, still cant decide what to do with the blank space so for now, this one is considered done.
redo of an older drawing that i have posted before, from the movie 'The Expendables'

no? NO? then did he steal them from a full size human and use that head shrinking method on the hands to get tiny hands?
why are his second set of hands so tiny? did he steal them from a small infant and surgically attach them to his own body?!?!?
