you should contact Tyler Perry, he loves doing movies and tv that have only dark.... eer, blac... i mean afri... ahhh.... not whi... forget it, it is to hard to keep up with the PC terms nowadays.
I'm going to address the reason there are a lack of responses for this thread. both images are poor in the respect of having to choose a favorite design. the first one is so small compared to the image that is looks like a block in space, the second has more form to it, but it is basically a black flat outline with the only dimensional space coming from the few violet pieces of glass.
i think posting your work in the thread rather than a link to your page will get more reviews.
i don't know what is going on in this thread... since there is a lot of text, and i don't like reading large text blocks... all i know is the boob size to picture ratio is getting bigger... i like dis, i like dis very much.

1) boobs are awesome
2) boobs come in pairs, so they are doubly awesome
3) subject matter is just as important as how well it is executed. if something is uninteresting, why would anyone give it a second glance? the purpose of art is for the artist to express themselves in such a way that they can get a reaction, (emotional, physical, psychological) out of the viewer. to say that a poorly drawn pair of boobs is not as good as a very well drawn paint chip, is not for anyone to say except the person viewing the art.
ps: just because good art does not have rave reviews posted all over it, does not mean people don't appreciate it. it might just means that the artist did well enough that the people viewing it are to intimidated to post any suggestions, and to just post "that's good" is not helpful, so most people don't post it. while it is easy to rant about a pair of boobs.

some of the edges seem a little harsh, it is a hard to ascertain whether or not those are horns or indents in the forehead. the face is very well formed, the armor could use some work tho, the teeth seem a a little small tho.
... idk what is the problem... that video showed nothing but scribbling, try explaining what the problem is rather than using an ambiguous video.

scouting is not canadian health care, its not free, you post no work in this thread, so no is going to give you a critique, post work here, and if anyone gives critiques, make improvements on your work, show that you are growing as an artist and maybe someone will scout you.
the finished assignment to illustrate point lighting from a candle, as always comments and suggestions welcome.
are your for real? Your not asking for something creative, but rather just your name with a bunch of filters... if that is the case then your not looking for an artist, you need an instagram'er.
why you make thread but post no art? why you have no art on your page? why?

i feel like... the internet might not be a reliable source of information anymore... sigh

i get it if the original piece was not yours, but why, if the original piece was yours (say a photo), and you use the grid method to paint it at a different scale, are you all of a sudden not a real artist? or at the very least, not that good?

:If you're using a grid to keep constant proportions, it just means you need to practice drawing more.
:You aren't thinking about the proportions and the overall composition of whatever you're drawing, either.
i disagree, proportions mean, line, color, and value, using the grid system keeps all of these constant, just because you work square by square does not mean you don't keep the entire composition in mind.
but i feel like this is becoming a pointless discussion, as there are just different views of the validity of the Grid system.

college actually, painting by grid is the same as painting by reference, except one uses extra lines to keep shit proportional.

yes... in my art class we used the grid technique to do paintings at a 4:1 scale from photos that we took. In fact, if you do something on a massive scale it is not uncommon to use the grid technique, Chuck close is a good example, one that was used in the art class that i took.

right where the tail connects to the body should not have a black line, it makes it look detached and not fluid. consider removing it and smoothing the transition of the lower back into the base of the tail.
this is more to do as a PSA rather than a suggestion on your laptop, wish someone had told me so i'm telling you.
A link having to do with Windows 8.1 and Nvidia GeForce graphics cards. that is just one link, if you look you will find a lot of problems related to BSOD issues, this is not to say you should not get it, it is just a warning to tread softly if you do.

i think it might have been better if the colors that go around it follow the flow of the color wheel, at least so that one color is at least related to the one next to it, and it does not have such an abrupt change, though it might just make it look gimmicky, idk.

*mait192* omg.... that's the best idea ever.
At 11/6/13 12:01 PM, ProbablySinged wrote: Okay, that makes sense. And then scouting is just whether or not someone decides they like my work?
non scouted users can only post images on their page and on a form (like this one), if someone who is scouted likes your work, they can "invite" you (make you scouted) to start posting your images on the portal. until that happens, just keep posting your work here so that hopefully someone who is scouted likes it enough to "scout" you.

i guess the point is kinda moot now, but gona post this anyways since i took the time to make it, if you cover the lighter or darker one and let your eyes adjust you can see differences in tone.
honestly, imo i don't think that contrast is a problem in your image, i think it is more of the excessive amounts of white negative space. having the skull surrounded by that much pure white will trick the eye and make the image appear much lighter, before you go and start punching in darker blacks in the sockets and nose, try cropping out some of the white, and toning it down.
