There you can enter your summary, score and review.
I must be blind, I can't even find the "Write a Review" option.
That's disappointing then. Well, does anyone know of any similar sounding peices that are audio portal submissions?
And thank you very much for answering my question.
Been awhile with no response. So uh.... bump.
Ok, maybe I really do have a pretty lame thread name and that's why people aren't looking at it but c'mon guys, take a look.
I've been trying to find the sound track that plays during the final scene from the latest Sonic Shorts: Volume 5 currently on the front page. It plays in segments when Robotnik fires his missiles and during the scenes where the missiles are closing on the 4kids HQ.

I can only find 3 of the songs linked to the audio portal and I can't understand the gobbledy gook in the credits. If you can take pity on a person too lazy to try to figure out the credits then please do tell me the author and name of the track.
Thank you!
It's in the Mario collection. It used to be on the line-up when you first go into the collection but for the life of me I just can't find anymore. I've even tried searching for "Mario" and leafing through each of the 53 pages of hits. I'm on page 8 and I still can't find it.
It's about Mario who finds this particular block. He tries it once a day and each day something increasing worse happens to him, including an ion cannon nuking his house. It's one of my favorite flashes and I've been trying to find it for awhile now.

Not exactly. I was hoping for something more specific to the flash community but uh, since I can't find help here I guess I can just ask individual artists through pm's.

As for instrument names and stuff. Your best to ask in your review, at what points the instruments are used. Alot of people make their own synth using a bass sound, and editing the way the sound tavels. I use a keyboard and have used probably 100-200different instruments in my music making, SO your gonna be confused at some point or another. Just always review and sometime near the end ask what instruments wer eused at what points. It's good for the Musician, because they get ffedback, and will most likely be glad to help you out.
You uh, missed my point. I don't make music. I'm very lousy and making music. I don't even have flash to make music or animations with. I just like to listen to music and I'd like to leave to constructive reviews, but to do that I need to learn the terminology better.
I love listening to music. I tried to learn to play an instrument once upon a time [piano] and aside from a little classical definitions [most of which I've forgotten] my knowledge of terms and their definitions are quite lacking when it comes to music.
Now, I've been listening to music for a long time. I started with video game music as early as FFVII and eventually grew into remixes (OC remix being one of my favorite remix sights) and I'm gaining a special love for the Newgrounds Audio portal. While I have been unable to make music, I have listened and enjoyed it so much I have attuned my ears to some finer parts of music and sometimes I feel like I can make suggestions but I lack the vocabulary to make it sound like something other then an uneducated garble.
Can someone please point me in the direction of musical terms for a medium such flash music? Better yet can someone point me to somewhere that will help me identify the actual parts of a track of music I'm listening too? I'm so bad off I can't even the name the instruments I hear. I recognize the sounds as I've heard most instruments maaany times before, just I never learned to stick names onto them.
I'm hesitant to use google because it tends to references me to resources that kind of leave me overwhelmed and nowhere. That and I always have better luck with human interaction about these sorts of things.
Yeah, I kinda have that 1 or 5 attitude as well, except on the audio portal.
By the way.... Just out of curiosity, assuming I do 5 points a day from here on out. About how many years would it take me to reach top level?
Well, its not that I just go over to randomly vote. I DO watch the movies and play the games instead of randomly voting. And I do try to vote fairly.
I just have a hard time dredging up the care from GiveADamn bay to vote on much more then 5 unless I'm trying to farm blams and saves.
That the only reason I'm arsed enough to vote on the flash portal is so I can get more levels so that my votes will weigh in heavier on the audio portal?
Seeing as how I don't yet have a functional music maker program (and even if I did I'd be too stupid to use it), does anyone currently have just plain loops of infrasound 1-19 Hz on Newgrounds? Or any idea where to pick them up?
All google turns up is a few bizarre rock bands and scientific papers.
Hee hee.... yeah I try to write stories and all that, but several years back someone got me interested in RP and DnD type stuff, where I could try to convert stories to playable campaigns. Didn't work out too well, they were usually far too scripted to be playable (gee I wonder why), but now I'm thinking of trying another RPG idea....
I'm looking for desert themes for an area called "Flashburn" with multiple subregions. Flashburn is basically a giant artificial desert. Well, technically artificial, but its pretty real and pretty dangerous if you're the one walking through its various subregions.
This is another one of my zany music searches. [Errard's Music Search]. After searching through a few pages of "Desert" themes I've come up a little bit empty handed.
The best I was able to come up with is
http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/9 5283
Once again I'm getting flooded with ones that don't quite... 'sound' desert like. True, there's a lot more to the portal then just ambience, but still I'd expect a certain amount of ambiency "stuff" in something themed for a desert.
Does anyone else know of any desert or desert-like themes they've come across during their long journies through the audio portal? (Oh, and I'm not looking for any themes obviously corresponding to a real life country, like "Mexican Desert".)

HOW ABOUT NO.
You traitor.
Gurochan? Hey! They keep to themselves most of what I see. Why go picking on a neutral group? Especially ones with those "unique" kinds of interests and also happen to know where your sister lives.
DON'T EAT PIZZA and wander through the Flash Portal obituaries at the same time -_-
Wow.... almost had to clean my pizza off my keyboard. Yeesh.... only thing worse would be the repair bill. (It's a laptop, I can't just go out and buy a $20 USB keyboard at Walmart.)
Hm... what's a music collage (I'm only vaguely familiar with the term) and if you come across any good ones outside of Newgrounds could you toss me a link or something so I can listen to them?
Wow... that was an epic **** up. It's 4 in the morning and as I said, my brain is a tad traumatized.
Yes, I meant Flash portal. I just got back from the Flash portal and I was in the middle of ranting to someone else how much I preferred the Audio Portal. Whoops, guess the two got mixed.
Great, this is embarrasing.
It's hell going through the audio portal. My senses just can't stand it. I'm just not cut out to "blam enough crap in time."
Why! WHY OH WHY can't there be more stuff worthy of voting 5 on. *Cries* my eyes, my ears, my entire ****ing brain is bleeding.
Back to topic....
I can kinda agree with the rant at the beginning.... I mean, yeah he's definitely one of the best I heard (love Chaoz Japan), but whether its a fan submission or not it seems like a waste to have a flash submitted that just kinda juke boxes someone's work.
Only real good flash/audio portal I saw was some something that would actually go through the audio portal for you and run random songs through the player. I can't remember the name or find it again to save my life but it was pretty cool.
Wow... this board doesn't see much action at all, does it? And right now its Friday night, well Saturday morning by now.
Anyway.... let's assume that I REALLY like music.... like I spend 16 hours a day listening to it. But i'm an uber - level 0 - noob at making it.
Is there some sort of free music making program out there to just play around with? I know that if I googled it, I could find something, but it'd probably be a landslide of trial and timebombware. Does anyone know from experience something that's not too complicated, really quick to learn, and easy to use? Maybe in a few years if I get any sort of talent I'll try to contribute something instead of just listening.
Really simple. I've done some sci-fi writing. My main race is humanoid, but still alien, and an absolutely different culture in just about every possible way.
They find human beings curious creatures. Inferior... and therefor a little arrogant to them. But after years of watching their cultures rise and fall (alien-dudes live for up to 10,000 years, they see human civilizations rise and fall by the dozen), they have come to one major conclusion about humanity:
A human is a weed.
Left to its own, it grows, reproduces, destroys everything it touches even themselves. Too bad it actually has some potential as a flower plant. Mankind is too fked up to do anything right by themselves.
Ultimately, a "human" can be raised, cared for, and nurtured into a very gifted and advanced being, free from the vices, sins, and flawed preconceptions of any pathetically short lived culture they've ever managed to jackass together.
But a "human society" is fit only for orbital bombardment and enslavement.

Neither do I, I wonder if there ever was a time...
Seconded. And, also speaking on that note, what has he actually DONE other then just talk about it? Why do I get this suspicion that his only reason for involvement in this whole deal is just for raw, selfish PR points. And a chance to pull a few strings and immortalize himself with a Nobel-fkn-Peace prize. Course, I doubt he had ever little detail and award planned out, but hey this is was just an opportunity that popped up that he couldn't pass up on manipulating into his favor.
Wait.... why fkn PEACE prize? If he wants a peace prize, then he should drag his ass down there to Israel and single-handedly work out a peace treaty that lasts for the next 500 years. Not sit on his telling people how hot its gonna be getting. If he deserves anything at all (highly questionable) it should be something from the EPA for environmental protection. Not something for bringing peace and humanity to the world.
Alright, sorry for the double post. I forgot to mention something REALLY IMPORTANT.
I'll tell you up-front. "Epic" or "Heroic" do not apply here. Just regret for a lost world. Regret for a lost life. Not a hero mourning his lost homeland. Not a champion who has passed away. Not a requiem for a a civilization long past.
A poor little being. Not a soldier, not a hero, not a master of a trade. Not a pinnacle of society, something small and pure that should never have been abused or torn away from a simple life free of the sins and hardships that plague others. An innocent being so badly injured in body and mind that "Regret" is all that is left. Regret that etches itself so deeply upon a soul that not even death is a release.
Yay for multitasking! Also looking for some other things.
*spreads out a bunch of mostly empty scrawled sheets with a title sheet on top printed with a dozen possible titles, all involving the words "Tiny Regrets".*
Don't let the name fool you. Quality over size. Time to break some hearts. Small regrets, huge heartbreaks. Anybody wanna see if their or a friend's music fits the bill?
Oh well. Perhaps I'll have better luck with my next random search.
Well then, let's try this.
http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01209/
This is a link to "A Fate Preordained", a remix of the title music from the old NES game Legend of Zelda. I was thinking of referencing outside music now and again if its relevant to a topic (like a thread about remixes of game music), for general discussion, or could maybe be an example of some effect that an author is trying to create. In this case, a high quality remix of a rather up-beat tune, into a very relaxed and calming piece of work.
I'd like to know about the posting of links referencing peices of music outside of the NG audio portal if they're relevant to the topic at hand or intended to be decent discussion among themselves.
I understand and would comply with the rules forbidding anything that references copyrighted material. I'd like to know if there's an acceptable gray area in the forum rules and social acceptance of the rest of the forum.
(Example: A link to the desc/download page of a free to distribute peice from OC Remix.)
Awesome, thanks for the peice Xenon. I'll try to remember to review it later when I have the chance.
