Ok, we trust you as a figure of authority when it comes to predicting people's reactions and your experience with psychoanalysis. Yes you have a doctorate that certifies you for sure to know that's exactly the way the troops were thinking, there's no questioning your logic, no way no how. Not in this, or any of your other statements, you didn't jump the gun a single time and make an assumption, no sir.

You have a choice, you ARE aware of that, right?
That is, of course, if you are juxtaposing your job with the military. If you hate your job, then leave, it's that simple, find another one, and leave. If you're still at your job, and there are other oportunities out there, don't complain about you hating it.
It would seem that my state (California) is upping it's ante on gun policy, it was about time too. Don't get me wrong, I like firearms, however, I don't like the gangs around here, and trust me, a lot of them showboat their guns. I believe the reason California has banned the gun is primarily because of terrorists, that would also include gang members. There's no dispute that gang members are an ilk of terrorism because they us scare, menacing, intimidating and threatening tactics on their victims. It's not that the gangsters are smart, on the contrary, they're just stupid in the brute way that they think. I've heard both the police chief of Los Angeles and governor Arnold Schwarzenegger speak of lowering gang violence and enforcing strict-er gun laws so to them I say "kudos" and to gun enthusiaists I say "I'm sorry :( I wish I had one too" but I would much rather society handle it's business with fists than with firearms.
As for the gun manufacturer, even though he fears going bankrupt if his sales to civilians are halted by city and/or state law, that is a risk that he should have been aware up when he took up manufacturing such a dangerous (yet cool) product. Should he blame the cities and states for it? I don't think so, I think the blame, once again, is in the hands of stupidity and stupid people alike that were never taught the principles of responsibility.

ReiperX about the missionary position in the military: you're allowed to screw a military girl, so long it's in mish? Or did I misunderstand that? I mean it's a good position and all but... eh it'd get boring after a while >:/ that's like when the spanish missionaries went to Hawaii and saw that people there were having sex differently, and they told the tribes that Missionary was the only way, the man has to be on top, yada yada yada, it's all bullshit I tell you >:/

Well I'd do the same. I refuse to take up arms for a cause that I do not believe in. This is what happens when you go to war without good reasons, what the fuck is "possible threat?" I'm sorry but I've seen less shit come out of a bull. Now then, aside from my political angst, I have a question. I was talking to some liberal gay dude at the gym the other day (I don't say liberal because he's gay or vice versa, but because he's both) and he said that there's a loophole in the system.
The "Don't ask, don't tell" policy in the military allows you to avoid being drafted against your own will (in any case of a draft) if you tell the military that you're gay. I don't know how that works but he says you can avoid it :\ Since you're familiar with military issues, would you bother to explain how this may (or may not) work ReiperX?
You're not minority here btw, from what I saw before the elections, a lot of other people in the BBS don't support the war.

Heaven IS a perfect place, but Satan wanted total control -- And he still has the same unquenchable thirst for power. Lucifer probably promised the other angels high positions in his "administration," and they found that offer irresistable.
I'm not exactly sure if it even states in the bible that Luficer was involved with any kind of music, it just states that he was "the most beautiful angel" that is all, however, let's not get into the small details. Your end of that paragraph is very politically-oriented, I like that, it shows that evil stems from greed and jealousy as some of it's sources.
I can't explain why God didn't prevent Satan's rebellion, but then again, I don't know everything. God exists outside of time, so He already saw what would happen in the future. But I really don't know why He didn't stop Satan before it was too late. -- Although I feel better when I remember that it will all be over soon, and I have nothing to fear. : )
After listening to some bible scholars preach and debate on why God didn't strike Luficer down (if that's what you meant by "stop") they arrived at the conclusion that God loved Luficer so much that he couldn't bring himself to destroying him then and there, and not only that but it would have left the angels terrorized of free will. What God took upon himself to do was create a scenario where he could prove that Luficer/Satan was wrong and to prove to the angels that he gives everyone a fair chance, that scenario is life. Our lives are comprised of tests, limitless tests of decisions that we must make out of our own free will. That test, is in a way, God's proof that Satan is evil, by testing us God can see how dedicated (or not dedicated) we are to him, and how far Luficer will go to win us over to his side. After the test is complete and the prophecies are completed, God will end the world and destroy Luficer once and for all, thus ending the scenario he created to show the angels that he was merciful and compassionate by saving those who believed.
As hypocritical or bizzare as it may sound, it is the eternal happiness afterwards that scares me the most...

Well I feel flattered that you decided to put your first post in such a rustic backwater of a topic. I like how you bring up that god wants to be loved out of "free will" and not by manipulation. That says a lot, not only about God, but about us, it truly does.
At 1/12/05 08:31 AM, gedion wrote:If God is perfect, if heaven is perfect, then why would they want Lucifer to take over God's position? If God is all knowing why didn't he know of the conspiring and stop it before it started? Just a few quick questions to think about.
This could have been the first time that free will or sin had manifested itself and God might have just wanted to let things get a bit spiced up and see how far such free will and "evil" would go.
Heaven was not necessarily perfect.
It states in the bible that it is. If it is where the perfect one dwells then it must be perfect in order for him to dwell in it, that is why the bible also says that God would not set foot on this sinful Earth, which explains one of the possible reasons why he had to send Jesus. Furthermore, I agree with you that it is Satan that commits evil and not God, however, God does allow Satan to commit evil acts upon us in order to test us, thus disproving your statement of God not ever testing us. A good example would be when God tested Moses in the desert as he led the slaves away from Egypt; God tested, Moses passed, and God gave unto him the Ten Commandments, so the scriptures say.
God is all knowing.
Omnipotent and omnipresent is the way the bible describes him/it/her/w/e.
And again, this is just my viewpoint, so flame only me if you see anything wrong with it. And oh yeah, as a reply to one post a long time ago, I have personally received an answer from God after praying. Of course, I expect to be harrassed in many ways for this post, but I suppose it's worth it.

Ok I worded that argument wrong, I don't mean subconciously or completely, what I meant was that our body is in complete control of the dream, your sub-concious is part of your brain, which is still part of your body, if you dream it, it's because you were sub-conciously thinking it, therefore, your body is in control of what's going on, and things just get weird. By the time you find out what's going on in a dream you usually wake up, happens with everyone I speak to about dreams all the time.
Those steaks, they're shifty ones they are. Don't know why you'd waste a good steak to prove a theory though. :P

True, you can see the human mind's inability to stop thinking and dividing things infinitley if someone were to say "well I could divide that grain of sand in half and still see it, heck I could probably divide it into 1/4 and see it, and if I had a microscope I could see 1/8th of it and if I had an electromicroscope I could see 1/100th of it... etc..."
well it is a paradox :/ I can't even imagine a place where we could control everything, It would be weird. It would imply we create ourselves or some wacky shit.
That's exactly why our dreams are so weird, because we are in control of them, completely and subconciously. It only seems at first like we are not in control because we can't necessarily imagine ourselves thinking of such things when we retrospect, but in reality, the mind was subconciously thinking of those things, like let's say you imagine you were on a water slide on a cold winter day while it was raining hale, your mind must have sub conciously been thinking of waterslides or hale at least (or maybe both). I use this comparisson of a dream to illustrate how a reality in which we would be in total control would be like: extremely weird.

Just posted A lil' somethin' in the General BBS. I wonder how many horndog noobs will go for it tho x.x
I'm not one to post much in the General forums, however, in this case I just couldn't resist. Apparently there's a petition going around online that will go into getting Britney Spears to pose for Playboy. Click on the link if you care to sign. I don't care much for her, however, if she does pose I wouldn't mind taking a gander, I just hope she's in better shape by then, and not in the shape that she was in when she came out on the "Butterfield Britney" flash (featured in Newgrounds).

Well there should be some sort of physical barrier (I hope). The human's mind seems to have an inability to stop though, like when it comes to things being infinitly divisible (like sub-atomic particles) or infinitly multiplicable (like the universe). I don't know why, but there is something that also freaks me out about infinite life/eternity.
but if we COULD get to a Matrix-like future, where we each live our own lives as a fantasy of whatever the hell we want, then I guess most problems would be solved.
That would probably be the easiest way to swell within an eternity. The only reason why life isn't so scarry is because things come up that are outside of our control. Althought it may sound like a paradox, if everything was within our control, or if nothing could go wrong then I would be afraid and petrified of the boredom that would ensue from the ability to control and predict things.
I mean, who'd want material possessions when they can have all that they desire in such a matrix-esque life?
I would want the real Mc.Coy if I knew I was dealing with a fake. Then again, it's in my nature to rationalize in such a way, I can't complain.

I think it was determined (at least in my point of view) that the bible under the standard christian doctrine was the only possible way that we could come up with an answer to this question. You just said the exact same thing VCV, however, you took a lot more space in doing so. Thank you for the lovely sermon, I hope it will prove informative and useful to those whom were never rased under a christian household, I, however, was raised under such conditions so all that you said I already know.

I don't think we'll ever explore science to it's fullest, not in the extremes at least (i.e. sub-atomically or Astronomically).
After that, it'll just be a matter of creating a perfect society by removing human leaders of replacing humans with geneticaly better humans who believe that their life has meaning and that giving is the best thing ever and who'd all live happy always :o

So... ain't been here in a couple weeks.
The phone line in my house got messed up because of the heavy rain, so I had to go to my friend's house to at least make one post :\ In other news, I went snowboarding on New Years... man it was the shit, especially if you get to the slopes at 8am and beat the hung-over crowd from New Years eve. I didn't fall as much this time, only about... 5 times per ride x.x which is an improvement over 30times per ride. Anyway, back in school now... (why am I talking about this pointless stuff anyway?) Why doesn`t God, with just a flick of its hand, just vanquish evil?
I mean he is after all God, the creator of things and what not.
Hm, you can tell who's done research on Christianity and who has not. God is supposed to do that (flick his hand and vanquish evil) after the Armageddon in the book of the Apocalypse in order to end all things and start life anew in Eden. Now as to why he doesn't just do it now, according to the scriptures, certain prophecies are supposed to come true, like a global monetary system, a global government, and an antichrist leader (some say it might be a future pope, who knows). But anyway, if you disregard the bible and the christian doctrine, it's really difficult to answer that, then again, if you disregard the bible, you also disregard God in a sense.

She recently flew up here to California to see her new boyfriend for the holidays, knowing how I turned her into a nympho, she gave him her virginity. So I walk into the old chatroom and BAM who's there? The boyfriend. Needless to say... I showed a lot of restraint and politness by asking him if he was enjoying his holidays. He replied "of course I am, I have good reason to" I replied "I have good reason also, for the exact opposite." I asked him to keep his girl out of my dreams because I hadn't been able to sleep well for a while now, he said he couldn't do that because she didn't willingly place herself in my dreams... heh yeah I placed her there... against my own will really. Wow this is gonna be hurting for a good week.
Sorry if this is too emo for some of you but I needed to vent, forgive me.
