We can't discuss something of this nature without arguing, it's in our nature to argue. To point something out, if the gay gene doesn't tangibly exist, and isn't proven to tangibly exist, then this topic should be devoid of any conversation. You've jumped the gun by going and talking about something that clearly hasn't been proven yet, and that might never be proven.
To set an example, I might as well talk about the effects on the future if we were to time travel, it's theoretically possible by accelerating things past the speed of light, but it's not something that has been tried and tested yet so my creating a topic of such an issue would be pointless to say the least.
One more thing, in romanji it's not "arigatou" it's "arigato." Domo arigato gozaimasu to be polite. You can "do itashimashite" (welcome) me as well for clearing that one up, if you want to.

Zelda might be better than Metroid, however, neither Link nor Samus Aran ever talk. But I know my friend would have something to say about Peter Jackson working on Zelda: "I can see it now, Orlando Bloom as Link" yes Peter Jackson's the man for the job. All he has to say is "Bloom, get your Legolas outfit, we're going Poe hunting in New Zealand!"
i always wondered if the concept of a metal gear movie could come to life...not to sure.
It would be one of the greatest pictures ever... no, on second thought... Metal Gear itself is already great enough, it doesn't need a movie.

I'd like to point out two examples that describe perfectly what you mean Doc. The movie based on The House of The Dead, was a total failiure, primarily because it depended just a wee bit much on the game... like showing actual game footage, I mean it doesn't get any cornier than that.
Final Fantasy Advent Children on the other hand, draws straight from the game's story but you don't see choppy polygon shots of Cloud back in the PSX days summoning Bahamut to help him defeat fiends, he doesn't even use the Omnislash to defeat Sephiroth, that's how independent of the game it was.
A movie that fails to meet your example, and is terrible: Final Fantasy The Spirits Within, because it was just COMPLETELY detached from the game, made next=to=no sense, in fact it was just a pretty-to-look-at-for-a-few-minutes sci-fi movie with the "Final Fantasy" name slapped on it.
Another movie that doesn't necessarily meet your example was Mortal Kombat, it was pretty attached to the game's characters and even theire signature moves, but it was a good movie all-in-all.
And finally Tomb Raider (The first one in particular), didn't depend so much on the game, I mean you could have never played the game and still have enjoyed the movie. I'll admit it was a good movie, possibly even better than the ailing series.

Ah, thought so. If you walk around with both the Trixter and Mischief equipped, you get an item about every 10 seconds.
The real fun in the game began after arriving at the last guy, Indalecio. But I didn't beat him, instead I went to Private Action in Central City where you see his daughter Filia and she gives you Israfil's Tear. After that, the game is all groovy because you stand no chance against Indalecio. So what you have to do is head to the colliseum and talk to an inconspicuous old man whom lets you try out some "virtual reality" which ends up opening up a whole new playing field for you. But you know what I'm talking about already, right dude?

It'd be interesting to see what would happen if polygamy was legalized. Would there be mass polygamy? Would the nation crumble as some like to think? I see that some Muslim nations recognize polygamy ... do you know of any others?

At 1/5/06 08:04 AM, BadBit wrote: Which laws provide these citizens with these rights? Petitions are public information.
The laws of the constitution. Although not explicitly stated, american citizens have a right to privacy, although the constitution said nothing about the cyber age because it was written prior to that, those rights are also extending into the internet. The only way those people wouldn't be able to sue and win would be if it said on the paper, information about them would be posted on the internet, that is the only way. If they signed it without knowing or without being informed in any way their information would be made public, they can sue and win, case closed.
Where do you see an intent of malice? I don't see anything on the site telling anyone to harass those who signed the petition.
It's not so much a direct intent of malice, rather malice was done to their reputation, and people are threatening them, possibly causing them "emotional grief" (as they could claim in court), and they could sue the site (and win) in court, like I said, given they weren't informed their information would be made public.
At 1/5/06 07:36 AM, BadBit wrote:
Stop triple-posting, or at least excuse yourself. What you can do is open multiple windows and copy and paste the text you're going to reply with into a single window rather than reply multiple times.
And that disclosure of information is a violation of privacy rights, even if the people whom filled the petition are morons, they still have their rights and opinions (as dumb as they may be). These are private individuals not public figures, they could sue the pants off that knowthyneighbor.com if they wanted to, and they would win, because of the intent of malice of the website in putting up their information, knowing they'd get harassed like that. The intent of malice for a private person is a lot more broad than the intent of malice for a public figure. Now if a political candidate were to have filled that petition out, we wouldn't be able to sue and win.

Dude I wasn't arguing about diseases I was saying people were using that as an excuse.
You make it sound like homosexuality is something that was invented in the past couple decades.
No, it wasn't invented, in fact it's been "in the closet" for centuries, even millenia, since the greek days. What I'm saying is everyone just sorta seemed to come out of the closet within the last 40 years or so. Put is this way... the stonewall gay and lesbian movement was founded in 1989. Just a sheer guess here but I'm imagining this all began to go into motion during the civil rights movement. Blacks got their rights, immigrants got some rights, so the gay and lesbian populous says "where are our rights?" thus the stonewall movement resulted. I'm not saying people weren't gay in the past, I'm just saying it wasn't as widely accepted by society say during the civil war periods as it is today. I hear old people all the time talking about "nothing like that ever came around in my day" which would at least hint to a sign of increased awareness. Anyway, I'm going off topic, all I'm saying is will polyamory cause as much community backlash and outrage as homosexuality did, (and still does)?
A couple years ago I remember a certain government official (can't remember whether it was a representative or senator) hell I can't even remember whether he was democrat or republican, I believe he was from Utah though, and he was deeply-frustrated with government for allowing homosexuality yet not allowing polygamy, not that he was against homosexuality in the first place it's just that he was angered government overlooked polygamy.

At 1/5/06 06:36 AM, BadBit wrote: That's so 70s.
That saying is SO 80's.
In this age of many sexually transmitted diseases and resistence being formed to antibiotics used to treated those diseases the idea of polyamory could be devastating to society. Not that it doesn't already happen to some extent.
I heard the same argument time and time again when homosexuality began to take form in the U.S. "Oh they're going to spread aids to everyone, everybody's going to get diseases." That was also what I meant by "the new gay" because initially there was an extremely powerful resistance towards homosexuality, although there's still a strong resistance today, more and more people seem to have accepted that way of life.
So what I'm saying is, will people put up such a resistance against polyamory? Or will they welcome it with open arms? *laughs*

I have not seen this topic brought up in Politics, and I'd like to hear what people have to say on it. Although we probably won't get anywhere but... what the heck?
Polyamory: 1. (poly=many; amor=love) The practice, state or ability of having multiple sexual love partners at the same time.
2. The core concept of polyamory is being involved in or open to multiple loving relationships, in a context of honesty and negotiation. The word roots are poly = multiple, and amor = love (specifically the sexual/romantic kind of love).
Here's a somewhat spun definition: 3. The nonpossessive, honest, responsible, and ethical philosophy and practice of loving multiple people simultaneously.
I say spun because of the use of "nonpossesive" someone apparently had issues with regular relationships.
4. Polyamory is the practice of having more than one loving relationship at the same time, with the full knowledge and consent of all partners involved. The relationships are long-term, intimate, and usually (but not necessarily) sexual. Persons who consider themselves emotionally suited to such relationships may define themselves as polyamorous, often abbreviated to poly.
So.... with these four similar definitions... is Polyamory the new Gay? or is it... not" here to stay"? Will it ever even have a shot at becoming legal? Does it even need to be legalized? Please... share your thoughts.

Naw, just someone who likes to bore people... because it's so boring. El Espinazo Del Diablo in Durango (represent) Mexico, however is said to have been fabricated by the devil :P The name simply translates to "The Devil's Spine" and boy is it ever bumpy, what with the Mexican government not being able to afford to permanently fix the potholes, and the impossibility of widening the roads that aren't even two car widths wide and teeter on the edges of steep jagged cliffs. When a semi comes barelling your way downhill when you're headed up, there's nowhere to go but reverse.
The deadliest road in the world though is the trail in La Paz, Bolivia, ironically translated to "The Peace." It's so steep you can only descend the incline while on the breaks, and you can only climb it in first gear. It's also famous for it's beautiful scenery, not just it's savage terrain and sudden dropoffs with high probability of death.
I present to you a pic taken from the Devil's Spine by a photographer. Funny you can't even see the road because of how unstable and inconcise it is.

"Writings about discovering my love for America and American History. Writings about my self-learning journey with The Great Books of the Western World (the writings by mankind's greatest original seekers of knowledge). Writings about my unusual exposure to the philosophies other adults hold, philosophies that are anti-life, anti-American, dependent and pathetic -- literally subhuman. Writings about other wrestling talent who have died while bent over their dirty little bags of street drugs, cowered to their filthy refusal to grow up and become real men. Writings that refuse to cut anyone any slack at any time when it comes to the inescapable fact that there is an undeniable responsibility that comes with the inalienable right. And writings about that there is an irrefutable line between what is right and wrong, good and evil, true and false -- and how the tolerated blurring of those lines has spawned the gravest dangers we face today in our society -- Political Correctness and Moral Relativity."

Kirk never was much of a show-stopper live really. I noticed this when he didn't play the Master of Puppets solo, Ride the Lightning solo, and Disposable Heroes solo note-for-note in the concert. I was like "hmm, either he's getting rusty, or he's being lazy, or like Zeppelin, he wants to avoid sounding like a jukebox during live gigs." I don't mind the band sounding like a jukebox though because then I can follow more-closely.
