http://www.seriouswh..ed-Senso-Concept.htm

http://www.supercars.net/cars/1682.html

All of those cars run on natural gas methane with a bit of diesel.

Response to: Lower gas prices: not a good thing? Posted October 10th, 2006 in Politics

I agree with BeFell on this one. I don't think peopple ever want to be at the mercy of the pump again like they were when prices here went over $3/gal. So because of that low-blow by oil companies, a process to find alternative energy sources was kicked into a higher gear. With or without the aid of the oil companies new energy sources will be found. It's in the best interest of big oil to invest in these new resources from a business point of view, no one wants to miss the boat.

I think we're on to something with fuel-cell technology and ethanol. Also the electric car has some promise but that's still a work very much in progress. There was even a concept race car manufactured by Rinspeed which could run on methane from garbage. Rinspeed is a Swiss company which goes to great lengths to modify cars.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rinspeed The methane car I read about is called the Vantige and apparently there's also a 2004 Splash and 2005 Senso concept, all of which have virtually no sulfur emissions :D

It just goes to show how some people are living in the days of Kali Yuga my friend. Now I'm not saying every wealthy person is like this, but there are some, who aren't even all that wealthy yet still want to flaunt what little money they have, it's ridiculous.

Take the urban neighborhood guy or girl who's been saving for ever and then spends it all on an Escalade just to show "this is how I roll and I'm better than you." Kind of reminds me of Kanye's self-concious song (it was called "When It All Falls Down" right?) the line which says "then I spent 400 bucks on this, just to be like n*gga you ain't up on this." It's pretty mind-boggling if you think about it; how some people just can't be satisfied, or actually fathom giving some money back.

So then you're going against evolution by saying we're responsible for bringing about the change and not our genetics. I agree with you only half way through your argument. Indeed we can bring about change, but if your genetics are in such a way that you inherited say... small weak wrists or a weak back then... there's only so much you can do when that's how your body's blueprint is deigned, capiche?

Of course this shouldn't suggest you should lose all hope, there might be some genetic traits which would make other parts of your body stronger. I for example happen to have weak wrists and poor biceps and no matter how much I work them out I can only get them to par strength, I can't super-charge them. My back, however, and my calves are stronger than plenty full-grown life-long weightlifters at the gym. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.

At 10/9/06 09:25 PM, BanditByte wrote: Why? Because it is simply an ineffective organization and even more corrupt than the governments in it.

I agree, the U.S. can be pretty corrupt at times.

:For starters, why should the US have to pay about 27% of the UN's expenses?

Beucase not all nations are equally wealthy or have equal the voting power thus they don't pay equally.

:Isn't this unfair to the middle class american who has to try and make ends meat for his family, while the UN squanders his money?

Not at all because the middle-class American is extinct silly :P

:Which is even more annoying most of the countries in it hate us for no better reason than we're more powerful than they are.

That's true, envy can cause that. Or maybe they have some problem with the way we were trying to force Iraq and Afghanistan into a state of democracy.

Next, should the US be in league in an organization compromised of fascists, communist, monarchies and socialist governments that could care less about human rights and are only there so they can boost their own prestige and ego? We stand for fairness, liberty and justice for all, yet we ally ourselves with morally grotesque despots and regimes. Is that not hypocrisy on the part of Europe, Canada, the US and any other free nation?

Well just because we're in the same room with them shouldn't suggest we're allied with them. It's like... a cop interrogating a suspect. Besides dude you should know no one person possesses indisputable truth. Just because the other nations might have some ideas wrong doesn't mean the U.S.'s ideas are right in every way. They're put in the same room so perhaps they can learn something from one another or work something out. It's all a sign of maturity though, clearly Kim Jonh isn't all that mature and neither is the South American dude... I forgot his name... HUGO CHAVEZ!.... yea.

I'm not going to pretend the UN hasn't done anything good. Suggesting such a thing would be an outright lie, but why bother? It is obvious the UN is obsolete and about as useful as a fire hydrant in the middle of a desert.

It shouldn't be dismantled or be given up on, it needs to be reformed, restructured and re-inforced. The U.N. needs some teeth, seriously because it's looking pretty toothless lately with Iran and N. Korea.

What I hate is the way some people pronounce certain words for example:
The first is the way it's written, the second is the way it's wrongfuly pronounced, the third is the way it should be properly pronounced.

1. Cupboard - cubberd - cup-board
2. Thermometer - thurmawmeter - thermo-meter
3. Kilometer - killawmeter - kilo-meter
4. Yellow - yeller - Yeh-low
5. Horror - horrah - har-rur
6. Vehicle - vehickle - vee-heh(can't use punctiation on the I here so cut me some slack)-kul
7. Nuclear - nukular - new-clear :D

Those are a couple examples I have personal peeves with :\

Don't forget though, the U.S. also has different regional accents. For example, you have shouthern variations in Texas, Luisiana, Alabama, and New Orleans. There are west-coast (clean) variations as well as some really convoluted west-coast popular hip hop/slang variations, which are garbage. Then there are eastern variations of Boston, Maine and New York accents just to name a few. In reality, whenever I see medieval movies (Excalibur, LOTR which was fictional) I see characters have the clearest English. How come we don't speak like that in casual talk? Are we too accustomed or too lazy?

Response to: Off Roaders Are For Off Roading!!! Posted October 9th, 2006 in Politics

The Hummer H2, Explorer, Expedition, X3, RX300, Escalade, etc... are not true offroading vehicles. They would perform terrible in actual bumpy and uneven conditions. The true offroading pedigree comes from Jeep and Land Rover, and even they have their low-end models which are pretty shitty in offroad conditions.

Anyway, that's not the point, the point is a lot of people don't do their homework for buying cars. The only factors they take into consideration are these:
1. Looks
2. Price
3. Name
4. Fuel efficiency (and that's a big maybe)

Some people don't care about these or don't even know about some of these factors:
1. Practicality
2. Fuel efficiency
3. Literage
4. Cylinders
5. Horsepower
6. Torque
7. Safety rating (this includes crash and rollover)
8. Weight
9. Aspiration
10. Etc...

So in essence what you have are very ignorant consumers who buy name-brand cars that look nice, won't leave a permanent dent in their wallet and maybe won't be gas guzzlers.

If they'd done their homework they would have found the new Volkswagen Golf holds just as many passengers as some SUV's and wastes MUCH LESS gas and is much less expensive. The new honda civic also looks much sleeker and is famous for its fuel efficiency. In fact just about all Hondas are pretty much ULEV or SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle). And they aren't as extravagantly expensive as a huge SUV.

It just goes to show the kind of culture we're living in where people percieve these huge machines as being something for everyday use. I don't care if th ey can afford to pay for them or not, if they're putting a stranglehold on the environment and oil they affect me.
