Step-by-step walking Posted November 9th, 2014 in Game Development

I'm making my very first flash game with a top down view. I want my character by move by taking steps. If the player pushes 'up' I want the sprite to take one step. If the player holds 'up' I want the sprite to walk step by step. I've been looking all over for tutorials but I can't find anything other than the grid based Pokemon style game. The style that I want is more along the lines of the old Resident Evil games (without the confusing camera angles) Can you guys either point me to a tutorial or give me some ideas on how to program it? Thanks!

Is Actionscript 3.0 the same on all platforms? Does the script that I use in Adobe Flash CS3 work on Adobe Flash CS6?

Adobe Flash Character Drawing Posted November 4th, 2012 in Animation

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to learn how to make Flash games using Adobe Flash and I'm hitting a stumbling block right at the get-go. I'm not sure what's the best way to draw characters to animate for flash. Do you guys recommend that I just do it in Adobe Flash and use those or should I do it on paper, scan it, and then upload and vectorize the drawing for flash? Tips?

Help With Button Graphics (noob) Posted October 25th, 2012 in Game Development

So I'm trying to make my very first Flash game in Adobe Flash CS6 and for my first game I want to do a point-and-click shooter where guys pop out from behind walls and things and you click on them to "shoot" them.

So far Ive made a background, which is basically a street and sky, and then a foreground which is a car, a brick wall, and some hedges. My enemies in the game are buttons that look like guys holding guns so that when they pop out, you just click on them and then they die. For now I just want to know how I can make the graphic that I used for my button enemies turn into animations of them dying and falling.

Please let me know if I'm doing this wrong so far or if there's a better way to do it. Also, let me know if there's a tutorial out there that you know of or an answer! Thanks!
