I know I'm ignoring the vast majority of your post, but...

Literature is important. You learn to write by learning how to read. You have to get used to good language. And Shakespeare was a master at his craft: the powerful subtext lying underneath the dialogue, the beauty in his language, the pacing.

I am president of my high school's Writers' Workshop, and it is very apparent who reads and who doesn't. Those who don't read simply don't write well.

The concept of multiple people who own a program by nature of participating in it calls for the s+apostrophe construction in all cases. Any other construction is misleading and grammatically incorrect.

But then why do many professional American writing workshops use Writer's Workshop?

Well, it could be inviting to the singular writer that is out there or it could be a gross violation of writers repeatedly over the years. There's a reason we have editors. ;)

Anyhow, points stands. Writers' Workshop is the plural version.

So you're suggesting I use the plural-apostrophe form?

I'm talking this over with another forum, and they're telling me to use Writers Workshop.

Unless writers are created in the workshop and hence the workshop doesn't belong to the writers. ;)

It could also be Writer's Workshop if you only planned to get one writer and it belonged to him.

But then the question becomes: why does a majority of professional American writing workshops use Writer's Workshop?

Which of the following would you call a school club?

Writer's Workshop
Writers' Workshop
Writers Workshop

My problem is that based on a google search, it seems to be done in all three ways.

In addition, I can't change the initials 'ww,' because a logo has already been made, and the club website is already up.

What absolutely confounds me is that in America (I live in America), it looks like the majority use "apostrophe+s," while almost everyone everywhere else uses "s+apostrophe." But the most famous American writing workshop, the Iowa Writers' Workshop, uses the "s+apostrophe" rule. But at the same time, the Iowa Writers' Workshop was created a very long time ago, and American grammar rules could have changed since that time.

Help?

I know I posted this previously, but I hadn't had the time to post my predicament entirely before a lot of people rushed in to answer. Also, please keep the goofy answers to a minimum. Not only are they stupid, but they are also predictable. Already I know someone is going to say "none of the above" or make up some stupid "d" answer.

What I dislike more is that they try so blatantly to be "deep" and "literal," and so they plop in the term "Eurasia" in there from 1984.

Please no jokes. I am genuinely curious, as I'm sure you are too.

What are some sexual fetishes you have? Why do you think you have them? Are you sometimes ashamed or embarrassed by your fetishes? Anything else you want to share with regards to your fetishes?

Let's get a discussion rolling.

But much more often than not, the kids are not their kids by blood. Certainly gays reproduce offspring at a much lower rate than heterosexuals, no?

I don't claim to know much about politics. Neither do I claim knowledge of science. And it certainly beats me how a scientific question became political. But the following is a fallacy I've been thinking about for quite some time that -- while I don't claim it to be profound -- has been bothering me: If homosexuality is genetic, then why does homosexuality exist? I mean, those who are homosexual have a huge disadvantage in passing their gay genes to the next generation, so wouldn't after a few generations homosexuality completely disappear? Wouldn't evolution destroy the gay gene?

EmoNarc stampedes back and forth in apparent deep concentration. He holds his left hand near his mouth as he juggles his fingers inward. Outside, the grass is greenest, and the sky bluest, but there is unmounted dissonance in this kitchen. This is stress in its purest form.

"What's wrong sweety?" Newgrounds asks, hands laced on her lap as she sits on an old wooden chair, her head curiously cocked to one side, her bright blue eyes beaming brightly.

EmoNarc stutters a bit. "I don't know what-- how-- no, what to say, and I'm very-- really sorry about this, and I don't know-- I'm so sorry."

NG flutters her eyelids, her beautiful eyelids.

"It wasn't intentional, but then how would you believe me, you and me, and me?" NG's eyebrows slant outwards. EmoNarc continues. "Okay, I'll just say it then ... I ... I cheated on you!"

NGs eyes dart to the floor, and her face goes blank, and there is a silence, and her mouth opens slightly.

"It was with Kongregate, and it only happened once. I'm so sorry."

Silence consumes.

"Will you ever forgive me?" EmoNarc says, with his palms at his waist faced up and an earnest expression.

Make sure it is of acceptable length. I don't want this to become a +1 thread.

Oh Newgrounds! Oh Newgrounds! Thou beautiful thing!
Will you now please accept this engagement ring?
From the portals to the forums you consume my life.
So please now oh please, will you be my wife?

I've spent countless hours simply checking you out.
You are the most beautiful site imaginable, without a doubt!
Phillips, Madness, Pico, Tankmen,
Everything about you give me an erection!

True I haven't met your parents -- your uncle Wade seems nasty,
But I'll kick his ass as soon as he walks past me.
And true the n00bs make me want to die,
But the mods know what's due, BAN TIME! Oh my.

So Newgrounds! Oh Newgrounds! Thou beautiful thing!
Will you now please accept this engagement ring?
From the portals to the forums you consume my life.
So please now oh please, will you be my wife?

Don't get any ideas. I prefer to watch girl-girl and solo-girl.

I think that straight porn is very disgusting. The guy is typically extremely grotesque, and the girl gets obscenely demeaned by this grotesque man. I guess I can understand how some people can imagine themselves as the guy, but why would you? This guy is a morally inept, disgusting person.

Am I the only one who thinks this or am I just insane?

Topic: Css Interfering W/ Polldaddy Poll

Posted: 02/28/09 11:23 PM

Link To The Page In Question

Look at the polls under the "Current Polls" box. Notice how the "View Results" and "Polldaddy.com" links overlap. After carefully taking away line of CSS after line, I have discovered that this is the problem...

html, body, div
{
  font:100%/120% Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
}

...but I obviously can't delete that. How do I get the two links in the Polldaddy polls not to overlap, then?
