It's not multiplayer, but if you haven't ever played Skies of Arcadia: Legends, then you ought to give it a shot.

Yes, its old and the graphics weak, but it really was one of the greatest GameCube games ever made.

I agree, in my opinion Dwight is probably the funniest character. My least favorite part of the show is the Michael Scott (Steve Carell) humor that the show relies on. Almost everything else about the show is great, but I can't stand that "incompetent" style of humor they keep throwing in.

Could you actually specify sources (I'm not doubting you, just curios)? Sure we've seen patents, but I just don't see an Apple tablet coming. Aside from patents, I've never really seen any hard evidence.

Topic: Courier: Microsoft's Tablet

Posted: 09/28/09 05:15 PM

Forum: General

Earlier, I was catching up on YouTube Subscriptions when I happened across this video by jon4lakers, a tech reviewer I like. In it, he started talking about a recent Gizmodo article about a new device from Microsoft called Courier. The article includes a video showcasing the features and UI of the device.

Im a huge Apple fan, but I have to say that I'm really impressed by the Courier and how intuitive it is. If the UI really runs as smoothly as demonstrated in the video, then Microsoft may truly have something here. There are really only two things that I'm worried about with this device.

1.) I think this device pushes a lot of boundaries in the tech world, and while I think that the stylus that Microsoft included is certainly necessary, they need to be careful about how they incorporate it into the device. It would be a shame if they took the Courier, and just slapped the stylus on without any thought towards design or function. I think that Microsoft needs to be careful about how they integrate the stylus into the device, so that it will be accessible without getting in the way, while also being easy to take out and store.

2.) It needs to be compatible. What Microsoft cant do here is lock users in by making it so that the sharing and interconnectivity features that they are showing off are only for between Courier users. The various Journals and notes one takes on the device should be shareable, viewable, and ideally editable, from ones laptop or desktop, not just a Courier device. I think that this could best be done by having them converted to PDF documents, or at least by being having them be viewable via Adobe Reader. If the format of Journals exceed what Adobe Reader can handle, then it might be worth Microsoft's time to work with Adobe to improve Adobe Reader and make it compatible.

Overall, Im really excited to see what happens with this device. What are your thoughts?

Today in the mail I received a very nice letter from the good folks at AARP (American Association of Retired Persons), asking if I'd join their organization. They even included a nifty little card that will serve as "a temporary membership card until my membership kit arrives in the mail".

The way I see it, I can do one of two things:

1.) Accept they made an honest mistake, throw the letter out, and forget about it.

2.) Give them my DOB, and a check for $12.50, just to see if they'll send me a membership kit (my Dad is a fan of this option, and offered to write said check).

So Newgrounds, what do you think I should do?

Recently, I found this site called WolframAlpha, which is basically the information equivalent of Google.

I decided to punch in Newgrounds to see what showed up. It turned up a fair amount:

Web statistics for all of newgrounds.com:

daily page views | ~~ 8.7 million
daily visitors | ~~ 1.8 million
site rank | ~~ 713th
domain online | September 17, 1998 (11 years ago)
(based on Alexa estimates, as of August 15, 2009)

Webpage information for newgrounds.com/:

page title | Newgrounds.com -- Everything, By Everyone
page size | 89.97 kB (excluding images, stylesheets, etc.)
links from page | 258 (in HTML)
images on page | 87
forms on page | 2 (5 input fields)

WolframAlpha is actually one of the coolest recourses I've come across on the web so far, and I can't wait to use it for school.
