Not to continue busting the skydiving / collider conversation, but I was just customizing a Mac and a Dell simultaneously, and...GOD DAMN MACS COST A SHITLOAD! To upgrade from 4 to 8 GB on Ram for a Dell Studio XPS was + $500, while a mac was + $1,000. Overall it was something like $2,000 vs. $4,000. Shit-fuck-face-dick!!!

AsusRiot: I would, but I don't think that enough people support it tech-wise that I would be willing to. It still is the same issue though...

Xeptic: Yeah, when I said which, I kind of meant the technicalities, not necessarily the machine, but I'll just look into it. I like how Macs run and all, I'm just afraid of 'teh switch' :p. I use a Mac desktop though, so it shouldn't be much of one.

So who does have experience with BootCamp here?

So why should a programmer help you if he can just do it himself without needing a "leader." Also, games with sprites tend not to do as well and should just have solo-made art. Therefore, either learn to code, or learn to draw.

stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyDown);
function keyDown (k : KeyboardEvent) : void

Have you imported the KeyboardEvent's? "import flash.events.KeyboardEvent;" What's the error?

So bitches, my computer just auto-updated and continually gives error messages. I'm in need of a new computer and was going to get one soon enough, so it's not worth the trouble of going through Dell to figure out what the fuck is wrong and reformat it just so I can use the crap for another week or two. So here's my dilemma of what computer to get:

I want a Mac laptop so I can develop iPhone apps on the SDK, and I can't use my home desktop G5 because it has to be Intel-based. On the other hand, I want to get a Dell because I like some of the programs it uses that Macs can't, like FlashDevelop. I also feel like although they might not look as sleek, they cost significantly less than Macs with the same capabilities. So could someone recommend a solution to this problem? I love Macs, but everyone who switches just says, "FUCK!"

Don't give that away! You are using that for your game, don't be so quick to hand those sprites out, they're good. People who are participating in this collab should be doing their own work, and from the skill levels seen in this thread, that looks significantly better. It would be "unfair" for someone to use that in their part. Also, who decides who gets it?

If you can't shift anything / insert any frames at the beginning (which you obviously can, despite how complicated it is), you can always make a new scene and then move the scene back to the beginning, then insert the preloader there: NG Preloader Page. There might be some tweaking involved, but I don't think so.

You only get sprite .fla's from games / movies online if you steal them with a decompiler or the author gives right. Clearly, Tom hasn't given out the rights to that art because they're extremely important sprites. Just learn to draw and make your own!

It's really odd reading this thread. It's the most offensive, yet the most flattering thing. Usually you get these people bitching about Jews (I'm one), but here you have 90% of you loving him and not being opposed to Israel's actions.

The only really offensive person I find in here is squidly. "We" (a.k.a. they) kinda got stuck in a shit situation and are trying to fix it. It's not like the soldiers necessarily intentionally killed the two little girls. In one of the recent stories, terrorists fired rockets from nearby a school to intentionally get Israeli's to fire on it, which is just one example. I can't really go against all of the shit that you've said right now, or necessarily ever, but stop being such a douchebag and go to the Politics Forum and argue it or something.

I think this is also becoming pretty offensive to argue about whether he's a good or bad in a thread celebrating him and telling him "good bye" for a while.

Also, just so you guys know, going into the army isn't like being drafted there mentally. Most people feel an obligation and go because they want to aid their country, unlike here. It's a very different mindset.

It's okay, but it should be a little more refined to be considered art I think. That's sort of on the border of okay and good, but with some real work and possibly even smaller pixels it could be much better. Here's an example of Godly pixel art, just for reference: Ansel's thread.

You can't discuss illegal ways of getting Flash on this Forum. You have to pay for Flash, but if you're a student you can get a discount, but otherwise you have to fork over about $700. Read the rules basically is about it. Yadda yadda yadda...

How have you paid for three versions of Flash but have an ineffective one? If you animate, it doesn't get much better from like 8 to CS4, other than maybe bone tools, and if you code, you can use Flash 8 with FlashDevelop in order to get AS3, so basically, no reason you should really need it.

Looks all right, but there's very little to base off. You should have more art or animation to show if you're going to ask for feedback. I can say though that his head is at a bit of an odd angle and his legs are somewhat short. The graphics also look fairly static (*not because they're not animated). Also, what kind of game?

Doesn't sound like it. Didn't really look, but just read this line and doesn't sound like it helps:

"an object-oriented framework that lets anyone create original and complex games with thousands of objects on screen in just a few hours, without using any of the Flash libraries."

"anyone" doesn't help programmers in my opinion. I'll look at it more later though, could be wrong.

Ah, I just got back from graduation one and now off to the second (neither is mine).

But anyways, while I was out, I got my brother interested in some programming and he had this ingenious idea for an iPhone game. I told him he should try and after I get all this shit accomplished that I'd help him. He downloaded some iPhone SDK app or something that was 1.7 GB and didn't check the compatability before and it required 10.5, but he only has 10.4 something. It had a nice tester with pre-made examples, and woulda been really nice. Off to find another download for him...but more like dinner.

Also, got a bit farther on my game using Glaze. I like it using a pre-made engine in some ways, it reduces a lot of work, but it can be a real bitch too...

Teach myself Java [for AP Comp. Sci.]
Learn more about using Glaze
Make a game with Nate M.
Make a game with Rudy
Start the NG Sketchtits Tour '09

I said "at least that's what I thought..." I forget who it was, but they told me not to use Box2D in FD because of glitches, but I guess I'll just keep trying. The issue that I'm having a.t.m. is that the frames for some reason won't update within the variable m_sprite or something, but I'll try a bit later. Dickishnessessess in teh FD. I'll have to find some examples that don't require .fla's on B2D's site or something. Anyway, thanks :D

By the way...I use FlashDevelop. That means it's hard to incorporate those physics engines that are premade, at least that's what I was under the impression of...So don't just recommend Box2D (and the others) unless you know you can fairly easily do it with FD.

That Wolfram Alpha is fucking SWEEEET! I use Wolfram Mathematica in math really occasionally, but holy crap!

I'm at a block in the road. So I have come to this point where in my game with N. Milburn, I need to code in the physics of a box. Now, I've been trying, but I have yet to do rigid bodies in physics and I'm having some trouble.

I've tried coding the four points separately, coding them around a center, etc. but it's really hard. Any help would be appreciated if you know what you're actually talking about.
