Funguy has made no mention of it yet. But the fact is he is closing his t-shirt company... FOR US!!!

ah thank you funguy though I'm sure your plans for an animation career extend further than this collab lol.

I thought Jayce-Diaz had part 5... what part does his two video games buny have?
sry I'm just trying to understand this.

Other than that it's pretty good.

And eKublai, I wasn't contradicting your solution, I was just confirming that I did have flash 8.

sry lad.

anyway funguy good that's done. But 11's my friends part, and meeb's part 5 I think we agreed would be given to jayce to not exclude his part. If you really like jool's part that much I can ask chris to drop it... But I bet if I gave him a due date for two days from now he would have it in (minor threats) Or idea!!! We can use jool's thing as one of the clips in that preloader idea I was going with.
Also funguy I remember you asking way back about author profle pics. Instead of an animated .gif could I send a movie clip .swc file for quality reasons?

nm that it's not the point. the point is that the v-cam will only work if it's exported right. Just test it on yours with settings in Actionscript 1.0 and Flash version 5 the v-cam won't work like how the master .fla is set. BUt if you have it on Actionscript 2.0 and flash version 8 it'll work.

Response to: Photoshop Help Posted February 19th, 2007 in Game Development

you mean copy and paste? Be more specific. Or do you mean File>Open?

Response to: The Bunny Suicide Collab (soad) Posted February 19th, 2007 in Game Development

well... unless I'm mistaken I've found out the vcam problem. I was using a really old version of the master file so you may have tried this and for some unknown reason the problem persists.

I think you have the export settings set for actionscript 1.0 dude. and flash version 5. The vcam only works with MX and above. change the export settings to version 8 unless you don't have, but I think meebs does.

Response to: The Bunny Suicide Collab (soad) Posted February 19th, 2007 in Game Development

the first three are kind of a weak bunch, exspecially when compared to the great intro. Definitely replace Happysheeps first part.the others have enough in them I think tho I never did like that part with elmer fudd in hamplant's I kept thinking "trace bitmap"

Response to: The Bunny Suicide Collab (soad) Posted February 19th, 2007 in Game Development

Wow, tough job to get it up with that but I'll give it a shot. I'll probably post another update tomorrow after my hearing test (turns out I might be deaf...) until then.

dude then just send it to me or something or upload the .fla on your site. I think I could figure it out.
Any way here's the basic premise of what I was talking about. I learned a about actionscript today.
What'll happen is when the guy rolls over the button with the mouse the buttons disapear and a mini-scene takes its spot, At least I know how to do that much, even though I used about forty different lines to do it. I actually do have the .fla for that game you all probably know Spank the Monkey, but I still don't think I'm good enough to ake a bunny suicide minigame. If there's anyone who thinks they can do it please speak up.

the mini-scenes will be really short, black and white , and replace that stuff I have up there now.

I used Jayce's part as an example to put some filesize on it. Another Preloader

Or maybe have the bunny draggable by the mouse so you can smack him off the sides of the animation, or into various heavy objects. I think that would look much smoother than a series of "select a death" buttons.
At the end of the day, most people nowadays have broadband and won't worry about the time taken to load, so if a fanyc preloader is going to take up more time than the collab has already, I don't think it's that necessary.

still it would be some fun. Good idea tho, I might consider that instead. Kinda of like spank the monkey right?

Response to: The Bunny Suicide Collab (soad) Posted February 18th, 2007 in Game Development

funguy I think the vcam problem is just an example of one the basic rules of movie clips...

they run on their own timeline. Therefore, any vcam we have in a movie clip wouldn't affect the flash. Somehow we need to we need to figure out how to put the vcam where it's supposed to be outside the clip.

Then drag all your folders into the file. This is much easier to do while your buidling your piece... and really I think EKublai is the only one that had it saved out as one symbol.... this saves the author a ton of time.

So ya, make a new MC, and drag all folders into the MC. I do a lot of "paste in place" for this when i have to do it to other peoples pieces. its time consuming and crappy, but it has to be done.

k so here's an idea for a preloader. Get some interactivity points here. Have a bunny just standing there and then we got options for "choose the death" just a little fun thing for the kids while waiting for the feature. I'm not that great at AS, so I don't know how to put different graphics on the stage after pressing a button besides going to another frame. But I probably could just try to figure that out doesn't seem to difficult

Response to: The Bunny Suicide Collab (soad) Posted February 17th, 2007 in Game Development

shoot now we have the same vcam problem with me too? And was this using the clips of the song or the full song cuz they all sounded different.

Funguy, I think the preloader could use some work. I'm gonna try to make a new one from scratch. but everything else is awesome.

With yhomit's part, I think I hear the part being played twice.

Color outside of stage Posted February 16th, 2007 in Game Development

I just came onto flash and I couldn't find the stage. For some reason the stuff outside the stage is now almost completely white, instead of gray. How do you change the color outside of the stage.

Sorry guys but I am just sick of flashes that end up getting 1.2 or something and NOT getting turd of the week. It's ridiculous. The point is is that we wnat to inspire kids who are learning flash to practice before sending their stuff here, wasting our time by voting it and theirs by submitting a flash which they thought was good but isn't.

Also, there are rules for auto-voting. I've been banned because I've done that 0 and 5 thing for so long.

Response to: My flash- i need some reveiws! Posted February 14th, 2007 in Game Development

for a first time it's actually okay. This is actually a lot like how I started flash. It just take practice and a little more care. Some of your shading is weird and off. Your overall style hear suggests to me that you worry much more about how individual frames look than it looking like na animation. You have to start praticing not try to animate dot to dot, but to practice the magic in between the dots. I would even sacrifice some prowess in art just so the animation is more fluid.

Clean up the Portal Posted February 14th, 2007 in General

Isn't it about time that we raise the requirement for a flash passing through the portal. For me I would think it a no-brainer, but day in and day out we have allowed the likes of kitty krew barney bunch etc. to get the best of Ng. I hate seeing stuff like the ones that have passed with scores like 1.67/5. I don't think it's very respectful of the freedom NG gives its authors. Besides those obvious reasons here are some other factors.

Flash Quality.
With flash 8 out and flash 9 soon coming, it is now easier to make better looking flashes more quickly. I remember a quote Tom made on the front page while "Prowlies at the River" was still there. "The bar for flash has been raised." Indeed it had, but I think along with more quality flash came more people who either decided to have their little groups where they could pass each one off because of a good intro followed by crap. It isn't right. Like socio-economics it has created a gap between the amount of hard-worked ones and complete crap.

Experience/Vote Inflation.
I think it's also time to realize that like how we usually only raise the minimum wage to keep up with inflation, we need to raise the score. Groups like star syndicate (there not all bad) have made a living off getting a high level with lots of voting power, then passing their crap through the portal. It's gotta stop.

Encourage N00bs
A raise in the minimum requirement will encourage more n00bs at flash to rwork hard on their first flashes more, showcase it in the flash forum first more, and be more satisfied in the work they've done. Though I think we've been catering to n00bs and other makers of inconsistant flash by having not all the flashes count towards the batting average. There should be those kind of dents in our average to motivate us to work harder.

Let's try at least raise it to 2.0 or maybe even go so far as 2.25

Yeha I was just wondering for future reference. I know a lot of people here use it, buty are there enough people buyibng so that it won't go out of production? Perhaps I'm just a complete stock market dunce, but why would macromedia then get bought out by adobe ifflash was doing well.
