Hey I was wondering what specs T.V shows animated in flash (Foster's Home, El Tigre, metalocalypse, etc.) are used. It's an awesome advantage of NG, letting the author use the dimensions and specs he decides so he can animate it for multiple purposes. Can anyone help me here?

Yes that is definitely reminescent of squat stocky primitive men dancing. Beside the fact that it isn't... of course.

So what I see there is urban youth dancing and in fact probably staying out of all the negative connotations that have been incorrectly attached to the Hip-Hop Culture.

sorry I meant "different" not "better"

Has anyone ever noticed how in some cartoons (notably films and tv shows) when a character or something like that needs to manipulate a piece of the background (usually a very detailed and unmoving background and the piece to be moved is like a piece of food in a basket or a rock on the side of a hill) you can actually tell what piece of the background is going to be manipulated because it looks better?

This is very hard to picture I know, but it's really not talked about alot and I can't seem to find an example offhand. But a subtle example is in Rattatouille the scene where remy is hungry for cheese and linguini breaks off a piece of pantry cheese for him, you can actually predict the breaking point of the large block of cheese. It's a lot easier to see in 2D cartoons but I just wanted to note that it happens in every kind of cartoon.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced that sort of thing cuz in general I feel like animators are taking a cheap way out in not trying to keep the animation consistent in those instances.

Anti-gay Marriage Holds No Water Posted November 28th, 2008 in Politics

And what I mean by this is that by banning gay marriage, where are singling out and discriminating a minority of this country without a rational basis. Think about it:

Atheists are allowed to legally marry
People of non-Christian religions are allowed to marry under their own terms
Marriages are allowed regardless of race, nationality, ethnicity, age, and many other pieces of a person's background.

So who's to say the gays shouldn't be allowed the same right. Not all marriages are carried out on religious grounds. Atheists can have atheist marriages where the only difference between weddings is that one was carried out by a justice and the other by a clergy. Why can't gays be allowed the same rights granted by a justice that unites them under a different branch of marriage. The Institution of Marriage is not and in recent history has not been defined by a trait shared or at odds with the individuals to be wed.

Christians don't need to let gays have christian marriages for the fundamental reason that the Bible defines a Christian marriage. The same goes with Hindu, Muslim, and even Atheists if they so vote on it. But that does not mean that people of differing views and institutions can raise or condemn the practices of another group. Gays should be able to define homosexuality for themselves and vote on what the institution of gay marriage means because that is what a rational basis is.

Note that this doesn't apply for other institutions. The military has a rational basis for the "Don't Ask, don't tell" policy because homophobia is real and is at the ethical odds with a majority of those who sign up to defend the nation in a way that even race wasn't. But in terms of marriage, Homophobics will no more fear married gays than single ones or gays in civil unions and it does not disrupt the general ecosystem except that society no longer punishes gays for being who they are by discrimination and taking away their civil liberties.

I realize that such a decision could make way for a "parade of horribles" situation, but as long as we think about the rights of gays on a rational basis as has been required by the Supreme Court, we can see that there are definitely places where gays cannot be because it would directly others who would be offended or even rebellious against such association, but we can also see that the majority of our fears against gay rights are unfounded because such rights would not affect our lives and so are fueled by just that, fear.

I actually proposed this a while ago, I've actually changed my views since then since marriage doesn't necessarily imply religion anyway. There seems to be a little confusion here.

How can i reduce the Lag without removing the filters?

General Methods

Clean up the actionscript
Get rid of shape tweens that don't transition within the same number of vertices
Lower the quality of the filter
Speed up the spinner animation
Sacrifice detail of moving and animated symbols

For more specific advice you would need to post the actual animation or at least the problem area.

I was think exactly of the same irony the yesterday. This is why racism is so obviously the root of the problem. What happens is that in a forum where insults are thrown around like all get out, discussion about the distortions and rumors surrounding the opposition have room to breathe, started by the racists. And then the next step is actually where the politics of fear comes in. All this discussion incites people to start believing and fearing the rumors, especially if they arn't as well-read as others. That woman's comment was a symbol of panic in the face of ignorance.

But the point is that people no longer fear the policies, but the distortions of character. So because this is the priority now, the hatred groups start formulating how to take down the opposition. What the hate groups realize that their blind ambition is not supported by the people who arn't racist. Those people have been conned because the don't know the facts and believe the rumors.

Thanks for pointing that out mastermind, it's actually really good from a humane standpoint that McCain isn't going to completely allow this rowdiness get of hand.

Mccain Campaign Rallies and Racism? Posted October 10th, 2008 in Politics

Please Look at These Short Videos and Articles First

Who is Barrack Obama?
Two Campaign-Goers shout "Kill Him!" then "Treason!"

Also of note is at the same rally, a part of the crowd of 3,000 turned on reporters while Sarah Palin was criticizing the "liberal media agenda" and started booing them and then one supporter was reported to have said "Sit down, boy!" to a black soundman.

So I have some very simple questions that I want to ask everyone. Yes or no will do, but if you must you can elaborate, but keep the answers concise.

1) Should McCain denounce these comments spoken at his rallies? (Note: He has not, and his spokesperson has actually defended the people freedom to say those things)

2) Has the Mccain campaign fostered an environment for racism to proliferate at campaign rallies? If so, does this concern you as encouraging to guerilla racists to take violent action against Obama or supporters of Obama?

3) Does McCain have the freedom of speech to NOT speak against such comments? For if it is determined that these comments present to Obama and supporters a "clear and present danger" does McCain have to speak out at the speech said at his own rallies in order to not take it on as his own?

4) After the election, whether the victor or loser, should McCain say in his speech that he denounces those attacks as much as the attacks on him by the campaign and supporters of Obama?

(These last two questions require a lot of thought because of the constitutional grounds they reason and the current gravity of these attacks from either side.)

Hey, my upcoming flash The Bohemian is going at a snail pace but today I actually managed to sit down and knock off the background effects for about a 20 second segment. It'll be hard to understand them without my character actually in it, but if you could just tell me if the effects look pleasing enough the eye. All you really need to imagine yourself is someone falling through an abyss/abyss like air. the weird flash at the beginning is actually the inside of the characters mouth and it's a transition into the falling part.

Response to: How to speed up your metabolism? Posted August 23rd, 2008 in General

At 8/23/08 07:53 AM, Frank-The-Hedgehog wrote: Due to my... eat almost nothing diet, my metabolism has been slowed down till that I will gain weight by eating almost nothing. Is there any way to speed it up without eating a lot, also without drug use?

The best way to speed up metabolism is a combination of two things and so it seems you know at least one of the reasons why you have a slow metabolism.

Diet: Calorie starvation is incredibly unhealthy since not only does it usually coincide with nutrient deprivation but yes, it also forces your body to do more with less (which works if it's a lifestyle choice, that's why many people from poor foreign nations sometimes post the highest life spans). The best solution to fix your diet is to gradually fall back into eating, which is not a hard thing to do, it should only take a few days to a week, but the eventual goal for an optimum routine is to actually eat constantly, in very small portions. Snacking is far and away the best kind of diet if done right because it lets your body use energy efficency and in the moment not "when it can get it" or "all at once". Just remember tha snacking doesn't mean junk food and it doesn't mean eating the same thing all the time since that will get monotonous quickly. Vary your foods to keep it surprising, alternating your favorite fruits and vegetables. Just remember to cut up your portions so you're not gorging, but don't deprive yourself so that you're hungry after you've eaten.

Excercise: Plain and Simple, excercise dramatically increases metabolism especially while you do it. If you are a moderate to strenuous athlete mix in eating during your workouts/matches to handle your bodies sudden need for calories. And keep hydrated. If you're not an athlete, start off with walks around your block since going straight to jogging can be intimidating when you're out of breath after the first hundred yards or so. hopefully this helps.

Response to: There She Is 4 is coming out soon! Posted August 20th, 2008 in General

I think the story itself is fine especially because while the moral of the is love conquers all, there is a definite duality in both the protagonists that is fleshed out more in this. The cat is not only having to cope with his own species and many bunnies turning against him attempting to take the hits for his girl, you can see at the end what this sort of counter-logic resolution leads to, confusion and clashing and eventually hopelessness and overwhelming self-pity.
On the girl bunny side, she has so far shown throughout the series that she is willing to brave this kind of shitstorm to the extent that both of their lives are endangered. Again, at the end however, we see the shift in mentality. She most likely blames herself for has happened and so what started as her "two tickets to paradise" an escape where she and her boyfriend can go somewhere where they can love without obstacle, has turned into guilt and so she believes by removing herself from the picture society will once again be in its own peace.

This flash asks us the classic question of utilitarianism, does the immense happiness of a few people deserve to disturb the public norm of society. This flash does not really address how this thing called love really prevails in all form in society but rather the whole series is about the confusion and distress caused by the birth pangs of a progressive movement, for example, the one bunny realizing that the bunny he punched is none other than his friend from Step 2. What is the world to do when something we do not understand becomes violent, too late realizing that not all of us are on the same side?

*puts pipe back in mouth* mmm hmmm

As for the animation, I really hope they go and redo some of the scenes back a lot of them were lacking the smoothness of the previous steps, there were way too many stills.

In celebration of the awesome NG showing at Comic-Con this year (or as I witnessed via stickam feed) I've decided to make a mockumentary style flash on comic-con starring many of the people that attended Comic-Con this year including Afro-Ninja,Krinkels,Danomano,AlmightyHan s,Dim and Tom of the Super Flash Bros., Tom Fulp of course, and surely you can't mock newgrounds before first going through luis.

And there may be a few surprises in "Comic-Consternation '08" :P

Unfortunately, I'm just starting to go through the tough part of the college admissions process so my time is very limited. I was wonderng if anyone could take some of the workload and help out with the later stages of the flash so we can finish this in a timely fashion.

What I mainly need is...

7 Comic-Con Backgrounds, and if possibly they should mimic the style of how I've drawn luis, geometric objects are very smooth, and rough objects are detailed with a three shade color. The setting can be anywhere, in the booth, outside the convention center (in a chariot haha) bjut thehy should have variation. They don't have to be immense backgrounds with lots of stuff going on, but that need to be 550 by 350 at least (yeah I'm going smaller what now?) You can post them on here at your leisure since they don't all have to come from the same person.

Also if anyone wants to do any character designs for any of the aforementioned ngers than you're welcome to it. I pretty flexible animating outside my style.
