Alright this seems like regretful whining, but hear me out.
Should Colleges make students test online, ie. BlackBoard or other program? I had finacial aid and ACT Scholarship money go directly down this fucking hole because due to work and health I couldn't spend 18 hours a day on classwork, both at school and at home.
I know teachers like to be cute by giving out homework, although there is no evidence suggesting that homework is better than in class work as a learning tool, especially in American schools, where all the teacher does is assign homework and a page number, works out a problem, then goes away, all of this 15 minutes after class officially begins, so the kids usually just copy someone's homework if they didn't do it themselves, all for what?
A Job?
This really pisses me off. Maybe knowledge and occupational wage slavery never will mix well enough to stave off the structuring of social classes, and maybe people know it.
80 percent of all americans in college are only there to get a decent job. No actual ambition or goals exist for them, only a keep up with Mr. Jones mentality.
If you throw in the idea of online testing, then an apparent and unnecessary attempt to continue this feudalist born sham democracy exists. First of all, you need to be able to spend 18000 dollars not to make 18000 dollars, but to only keep 18000 dollars. Throw in the corporate eggings of a monopolistic telephone/internet market and the outlandishness of certain job requirements (a college degree to join the army? Are you fucking kidding me) and already we can see an extra 1000 dreams wither for the value of a dime.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with blackboard, let me sum this up for you.
IT IS HOMEWORK THAT CAN ONLY BE DONE AT A CERTAIN TIME, USUALLY IN A PREDETERMINED PERIOD, AND IS ALSO USUALLY TIME LIMITED, AND IS ALWAYS A FUCKING PROBLEM!
A lot of you might not realize how far down some grades have slipped due to inability to do what is essentially easy homework between 8 and 8:45 pm on tuesday or 4:30 to 5:30 wednesday, but some classes may indeed hold mystery test dates and millisecond late entries against you for, I dunno, ALL OF YOUR GRADE IN SOME CLASSES!
The local university sucked down 3000 dollars in govt and scholarship money and told me not to come back. Fuck them.
