Topic: releasing a flash series

Forum: Flash

ok i got some good ideas for a flash series and im doing some drawings and graphics. right now im working on the narrated prologue, but I do have a question that maybe some experienced newgrounders can give a good answer to.

is it better to make the entire series and release it all (say 10 episodes) in a one month/two month span or is it better to work on each episode individually and release them as soon as their done? I guess my question is which method will allow the series to become more established on newgrounds with a bigger fan base.

im looking at release dates for some popular series such as castle/smdbz/toof/awesome and they each follow different strategies for release dates on ng.

any advice?

Topic: Science VS Religion

See, honestly mate, I REALLY don't understand why you call yourself Christian, if it's not just because your parents did and their parents did. I don't know why you reckon all of it is a collection of stories and metaphors, EXCEPT FOR that Jesus was the Son of God, died for our sins, and got resurrected, which is close enough to fact for you to believe it. "The Bible is fundamentally useless, and all I really think is that something started the Universe, but Jesus still died for my sins, and I should take communion, baptise my kids (cos of Original Sin, which Christians still believe in despite not believing in Adam and Eve)..." I'm sure you get my point..

Well I've seen how much all the people on these forums beat up on anyone who even mentions religion so I tried to give a somewhat deist perspective which is the most "logical" in my opinion. Very sorry about my incorrect grammar in saying "I believe" before I stated it. Kinda wrote it late at night.

But If your asking a personal question about my own faith, yes I am Christian and I do believe that Jesus is the son of God and my own personal savior. How I make that concur with these other ideas is simply by the fact that I (my personal opinon) think the bible in itself is a miracle (assuming you believe in miracles... I do). That some thing was inscribed over a period of 2000 years. In times of war and in days of peace. By kings, physicians, tax collectors, farmers, fishermen, singers and shepherds That this library of books which is connected so perfectly, could have been produced by such a diverse crowd over a period of time where numerous wars, conflicting religions, and many other things could have hindered its progress. Because I believe the bible is a miracle, I try to follow by its instruction. But many people can't handle that so I say the best option for them is to become a deist unless, by using your science, you can logically explain who or what started the big bang?

Concerning interpreting the bible literally vs metaphorically is a very very thin line to walk so I'll try my best to give you my thoughts. Lets face it. The bible has been proven numerous times to not be very much in the right about science and scientific fact. But according to my beliefs, the bible is a very useful tool in determining what your morals are and also how to live. In accordance to the church, they don't believe that two goofballs known as Adam and Even came along and committed the first sin. The church believes that "if" evolution occurred, then somewhere down the line, the ability to reason and think at the capacity that humans can was developed, and during that time, someone committed the first sin and because that person brought sin into the world we have original sin. Heres a question to ponder: If the world was barren of humans, would their be such a thing as evil?
My answer would be no, and since evil was created by the first person who committed a sin (again, these are my beliefs) then humans will have to carry that mark of sin within them and reliquish it through baptism.

And finally concerning Jesus. Talk to any intelligent philosopher and you will notice as well as I have that Jesus has hit human nature dead on. If someone can grow up as a low class carpenter's son and be able to show up to a temple at 5 years old and start preaching to average folks about God, then I'm gonna have to raise a flag and say "wait a minute". Just from how Jesus grew up and his environment, it is theoretically impossible for him to be able to obtain the wisdom that he has obtained. Therefore, I call Jesus a miracle and believe in every word that he says.

Questions, comments, Intelligent responses, conflicts are all well appreciated if anyone has any :).

Topic: Science VS Religion

Science has disproved many Christian theories, such as the evolution of man, contrary to the theory of Adam and Eve.

Many people have risen to your level of belief that evolution which is supported by scientific logic and facts contradicts the theory of Adam and Eve. But the church recognizes this and says that the bible is composed mostly of stories (parables if you need a better word) that try to portray how things work... a good quote to remember is "Religion teaches you how to get to heaven, not how the heavens go."

Firstly, why do people still believe that mankind descended from Adam and Eve in the face of Sheer scientific fact?

Mankind shouldn't believe in the descention of Adam and Even (including Christian folks) because thats interpreting the bible literally. I've never heard of a devout Christian taking the bible literally unless their stupid and ignorant of whats out there. One should interpret the bible like a collection of stories. But you must factor in that the bible was written by humans and that biases still exist within it, even though many believe they are inspired by God. Its a wierd mix but it gives me a better way to look at it.

And secondly, how long will it be before Science completely disproves the theory of how god made earth and validates the big bang theory?

Well according to astronomy/physics, their is a great system of measurement out there called Red Shift that measures how fast other objects in space are moving away/towards us... According to this information, everything is accelerating away from everything else meaning that something happened a few billion years ago (an explosion/big bang) to cause this. Well if we apply our laws of gravity/inertia and compare this explosion of the universe to a supernova of a star then we should be expecting very soon for everything to stop acclerating and slow down because the universe is getting too massive and the forces of gravity will start to kick in and bring everything back together. A few billion years later, you got the entire universe in the size of a basketball ready for another big bang and a repition of the process... Well who started this whole thing is my question? If you are a deist and believe that God exists and just pressed the start button on the universe and hasn't been seen since, then many of your theories may cooperate with each other. Personally I believe at the very least, that God, or some other entity, not restricted by the dimension of time, started up the universe.

Thirdly, once that happends, would faithfuls continue to blindly ignore scientific facts and follow disproven religious texts?

This question should be thrown out because its basis is on the idea that something can be proven in the first place. If you truly want to answer this question I recommend you take a philosophy course or read "Sophie's World". The only fact that we have is that nothing is true and nothing can be proven. Science can make laws that represent how a system will work but how do we know 100% of the time that that system will work for eternity. We can not "prove" that gravity exists or any other scientific pheonmena. If you think about it, science is just as much a religion as Christianity.
It also bases itself around language. Did you know that simply by using our language day after day we are involuntarily lying about everything. All language does is make connections from one thing to another and apply labels. Language can NEVER get at anything that is real or true, it can only make similarities and deny differences. Science can not be proven just as much as religious text can not be proven. Comparing something whose proof is founded on language to religious text is just as silly as taking the bible literally.

When all is said and done I simply follow the golden rule which was first declared by Jesus but then later restated by a famous philosopher known as Kant.

"Treat others as you would want to be treated"

that whole quote pretty much wraps up what love is. And when i talk about love, i'm not talkn about the kind that is hammered into all your heads day in and day out by society. I'm talkn about the completely selfless kind that basically says "here is my body, my time, and my brain... do what you want with them as long as it makes you happy".

lol... k guys im done... chew on that, insult my stupidity or w/e other crap yall do on these forums...

Are you people listening to your selves. Were putting the power and fate of entire countries in the hands of these people and all you care about is how they look or that they "look different".

Are you guys really that stupid? If you care about looks (breasts/vaginas) then the internet is full of material to satisfy your addictions. Just try to have some self control when you come back to reality.

Topic: Abortion/population control.

the way i see it is that, in America, we pretend that we value human life above everything else. So even if thiers a chance of someone having an opportunity at life, then that chance should be taken. I don't care if you science bafoons say its not a person during so many months of pregnancy, thiers still a CHANCE that that piece of tissue will become a human life later on and that that risk should be taken.

But aside from that dealing with population control... I think the numbers for the total amount of people killed by abortion is somewhere in the twenty million area... thats more then all the people killed in all the wars of the twentietch century combined...

and if you want to get a hardcore political look at it, aren't all these people were killing off in abortion supposed to be paying for social security later on?? i think the average amount of children per family in america is 1.4 kids per family... that means that our population is declining. maybe thats why people predict social security will eventually die out because weve killed off the people to pay for it 0_O... but of course no one likes to bring up social security, they just wait for the next generation to figure it out.

yea man... expect people to post random negative shit in your profile and in your movies... its just how newgrounds works...

but as for posting the rules, i think people don't read them cuz their so freakn long. if you could summarize all that shit into like a paragraph more people would read it and probably follow it. but tahts just my rant towards the newground administration... political correctness can be a bitch sometimes.
