Science has disproved many Christian theories, such as the evolution of man, contrary to the theory of Adam and Eve.
Many people have risen to your level of belief that evolution which is supported by scientific logic and facts contradicts the theory of Adam and Eve. But the church recognizes this and says that the bible is composed mostly of stories (parables if you need a better word) that try to portray how things work... a good quote to remember is "Religion teaches you how to get to heaven, not how the heavens go."
Firstly, why do people still believe that mankind descended from Adam and Eve in the face of Sheer scientific fact?
Mankind shouldn't believe in the descention of Adam and Even (including Christian folks) because thats interpreting the bible literally. I've never heard of a devout Christian taking the bible literally unless their stupid and ignorant of whats out there. One should interpret the bible like a collection of stories. But you must factor in that the bible was written by humans and that biases still exist within it, even though many believe they are inspired by God. Its a wierd mix but it gives me a better way to look at it.
And secondly, how long will it be before Science completely disproves the theory of how god made earth and validates the big bang theory?
Well according to astronomy/physics, their is a great system of measurement out there called Red Shift that measures how fast other objects in space are moving away/towards us... According to this information, everything is accelerating away from everything else meaning that something happened a few billion years ago (an explosion/big bang) to cause this. Well if we apply our laws of gravity/inertia and compare this explosion of the universe to a supernova of a star then we should be expecting very soon for everything to stop acclerating and slow down because the universe is getting too massive and the forces of gravity will start to kick in and bring everything back together. A few billion years later, you got the entire universe in the size of a basketball ready for another big bang and a repition of the process... Well who started this whole thing is my question? If you are a deist and believe that God exists and just pressed the start button on the universe and hasn't been seen since, then many of your theories may cooperate with each other. Personally I believe at the very least, that God, or some other entity, not restricted by the dimension of time, started up the universe.
Thirdly, once that happends, would faithfuls continue to blindly ignore scientific facts and follow disproven religious texts?
This question should be thrown out because its basis is on the idea that something can be proven in the first place. If you truly want to answer this question I recommend you take a philosophy course or read "Sophie's World". The only fact that we have is that nothing is true and nothing can be proven. Science can make laws that represent how a system will work but how do we know 100% of the time that that system will work for eternity. We can not "prove" that gravity exists or any other scientific pheonmena. If you think about it, science is just as much a religion as Christianity.
It also bases itself around language. Did you know that simply by using our language day after day we are involuntarily lying about everything. All language does is make connections from one thing to another and apply labels. Language can NEVER get at anything that is real or true, it can only make similarities and deny differences. Science can not be proven just as much as religious text can not be proven. Comparing something whose proof is founded on language to religious text is just as silly as taking the bible literally.
When all is said and done I simply follow the golden rule which was first declared by Jesus but then later restated by a famous philosopher known as Kant.
"Treat others as you would want to be treated"
that whole quote pretty much wraps up what love is. And when i talk about love, i'm not talkn about the kind that is hammered into all your heads day in and day out by society. I'm talkn about the completely selfless kind that basically says "here is my body, my time, and my brain... do what you want with them as long as it makes you happy".
lol... k guys im done... chew on that, insult my stupidity or w/e other crap yall do on these forums...
