Me and this other guy are trying to make a game in flash and it's really hard because we're really new and error messages are hard to decrypt and harder to figure out. You know how it was when you first started?

Anyway we could really use someone with experience to help a bit. We can't find *ANY* working IRC's or anything. So what do we do? I figure I shouldn't post my skype. :(
I've been trying for ages, but no real luck.
Help?

Well by help well... what would solve all my problems would be a working IRC.
It's *Still* not working. Seriously, what a fucking joke. For a place full of programmers you'd think...
someone who could program a program wouldn't be too hard to come by.

Anyway, just want a person or two at hand when the tuts go wrong, and the program is annoying, and I get confused between frames and keyframes and scenes and what the heck those 9 directional thingies on the movie clip symbol thing is for. And the rest that pops up.
Right now I just realised the platformer tut won't work because it's for an older version of flash. :(
I can't even get to past the first steps cuz I wanted to paste the code into the player symbol, but.....
yeah. Can't do that in this version of flash. Can only paste code onto frames. (after I solve this more will follow, personally it would be easier to have someone at hand then a long list of forum posts).

Hi, I'm looking for anyone who can help me get used to using flash.
I've got flash cs5 and actionscript 3.0.

Looking to collaborate on a rpg style game with someone. Wanting to learn how to program and use flash cs5 from someone more experienced than me. I have a little programming knowledge in java and almost no experience with using flash. :(
actionscript seems ridiculously easy to learn though. :D

Actually. The previous posters forgot to say or realise that in English "so so" by itself has an actual meaning. It basically means "average". E.g.
"That chick is so-so." or "That car is so-so, but mine is better."
I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve but the difference of leaving out or including the word "then" is probably something of more importance than technical details of the word 'so'.

Criteria:
Most importantly someone who is online everyday and not too busy to get annoyed with me too easily.
Someone around the age of 17-23.
Atleast good enough with flash to be able to give tips and to help if any problem comes up at any point.
Someone who uses or could use msn or IRC.

About me:
I'm busy for next 10 days with course. After that I learn more programming in java for the class I'm taking next semester, which is technical computing. Yay. :)
I'm actually trying to do the entire java class before I start next semester so I can quickly get a degree or something ( I forgot what the teacher said, all I care is I like the look of the papers :D). I have no idea if I'll succeed or not.
But currently I've gotten really experienced with if, while and for loops.

Why I want to use and learn Flash: At some point next year there is a game making class that runs for a whole semester. In the class we will form groups and collaborate to make a game. I think so poorly of using java and c# which are the only 2 languages we learn from now till then.
I want to use flash. And we all have flash on our course computers which is good. :)
To give you a basic idea of the game I want to make. StickRPG.
Or would it be less ambigious if I said I want to make an RPG game in flash?

Timeframe: Just want to slowly prepare myself with using flash. I'm not in a rush. Plan to learn flash slowly and programming extremely fast, (only problem is it will be java I'm learning extremely fast :D).

what can you do for helping me find someone to help me get adjusted to using flash.
I need specific tips with using the program. I need help with more advancedish programming than the logic behind basic stuff. I'm working hard on learning java currently. I do of course need help with getting adjusted to the flash coding dialect (syntax).
But really just want an intelligent person who knows the basics of flash to spare some time training me a little.
I'm really busy with class at the moment. I've got 3-4 assingments due next week and another due in the Monday after next week.
After that I'll return to being super busy learning java. :)
And at the same time I'll be pushing really hard to try and learn flash. :D
I really want someone to help. :)

What are the best estimates for the date of when the new irc will launch?
With my experience with both internet and waiting for things to launch....
if something says it's coming soon.... then it has got about six - 24 months left to go.
