Okay, this might be a long one, bear with me...

It was back in 2011, or so. I got an email asking me to do a narrator voice for a project. They found me by searching "Narrator voice" or something. I accept, send my lines, then get an email saying the project is dropped.

Then a few weeks later, I get one that says is isn't dropped, and he's continuing.

Then another one later that says it IS dropped, and will never be continuing.

And then one AGAIN that says it WILL happen.

At this point, I'm fed up. I say "Which is it? Is it happening or not?" "It is."

Then I get THIS email:

"Date: Thu, 7 Jul 2011 00:13:24 -0700
From: [email removed for privacy]
Subject: Transformers FAGLIANCE
To: [email removed for privacy]

Bwahaha, fooled you again. I can't believe you fell once more for this shit. VAA sucks ass, just like this whole amateur acting field is. There is also an article on Encyclopedia Dramatica with the tagline "EVERYONE ON THE VAA IS A FAGGOT" and I couldn't agree more. None of you will ever be real actors, just a bunch of shitkids with no acting ability and noisy crap microphones."

I tried emailing him back, but apparently he blocked me. The emails kept failing to send.

So I go about my business, thinking it was the end of the tale of the random guy who has a hate boner for us AVA's.

But it wasn't.

A year later I get a PM on VAA telling me that the project is picking back up, and that the want me to have a role. Of course, I don't buy it. I ask them for proof.

Weeks go by with no response, and then I get this PM:

"Subject: lol, VAA is for faggyboys

get fukked asshole. Bhahaha! by the way, the shitty Transformers project is already complete, I finished it with text to speech voices. They are better actors than you or any of the shitheads on the site. I'vve been making shows with TTS all my life and guess what, it's better than using your shit voice or the voices of other faggots. Suck my fucking dick!"

I reported him, he got banned, and that was the last I've heard from the guy. I don't know if he was only after me, or if other people got roped into it too, but I don't really care. I just found it odd and kind of hilarious.

I guess my pet peeve would be fake producers, haha.

Congrats to all the winners, particpants, and people who sat back and watched, because GOSH DARN IT we are COMMUNITY. xD

I'm quite happy I won best writing, and was an honorable mention for others, because I took great pride in my skit this year, so I'm glad I placed at LEAST 8th. xD TOP TEN AIN'T BAD, YO.

Thanks for everything, and I can't wait for the next one!

(Maybe then I'll FINALLY get a consultation with Kyle Hebert. @_@)

And WE'RE OFF!

Good luck to everyone, including the judges. Lord knows there'll be a hard time deciding a winner.

I hope I at least place better than the last two years. xD

Yes it is too much to ask for it - you should go out and earn it.
Which I have tried on numerous blogs. Guess what? Still no followers.

I'm getting the strangest feeling that by saying "go out and earn it" he didn't mean "find a different site to post your work to".

Try exposing yourself to the real world. Find yourself a lot of different creative outlets. Don't expect people to flood to your work without you doing a little promoting. If you're unknown, you won't magically become known by doing nothing.

But, most importantly, don't let the number of followers influence your output. Artists and creators of different mediums don't do what they do for exposure and notoriety. They do what they do because they enjoy doing it.

Anyone doing it for the fame isn't in it for the right reasons, and probably won't go as far as they could have had they been invested in their work.

Do your work for you. Not for everyone else.

It depends on how long we'd be waiting.

I don't mind waiting an extra day or two, but if it'll take more than, say, a week, I'd prefer the scores. xD

That's what has me confused.

What's considered a sample?

What of the instrumental was built from the ground up, but it SOUNDS like the original? Does that mean it's a sample?

Just wondering whether or not would be safe to upload a cover of YOLO that my friend and I did.

Thanks!
If the instrumental was built from ground up, there'd still be some metadata differences between that and the original, and the trained ear can tell them apart. It's highly unlikely that the samples should sound 100% like the original.

Sampling is when you outright use a fragment of the original song.

That having been said: are you attempting to upload a cover that tries to sound note-for-note like the original? With covers, we want to hear *your* individual take on the piece and your interpretation, not a carbon copy...

It's not a carbon copy, as we split the lyrics up and did it as a duet. I'll link it here once I'm done so you can see what I mean.

I was just wondering if it would constitute copyright violation, since I don't wanna take any chances here. I respect this places integrity, and I wanna keep myself clean as well.

Thanks! I'll report back with the link in a moment.

Unfortunately there aren't any judges this time. :/ Good news is that you only have to wait for me to finish. lol
This is very in intriguing. In an unrelated note, there is now a basket full of unmarked bills on your front porch. I prefer subtlety in my bribery.

Naturally I anticipated your bribing him, and ordered for someone to burn the bag of unmarked bills, and dispose of any traces of them afterwards.

If he wakes up and find nothing...He'll know why.
