It was a grueling ordeal, as far as online forums go lol. But looking back, I think there's no question in our minds about what we must do from this day forth. Once again, I'd like to extend my deepest gratitude to Lizzardis and Eagle for all their help and support.

*salute*

I'm glad it worked out well for the NGPD. I just hope they can pick up the pieces and move on from where they left off. Think of it as a positive note, as you can show the moderators that you are worthy of keeping the club and show that things are now for the better. :-)

Well, it may have turned out to be a false alarm, but you are always welcome to report stolen flash here! Thanks for the effort!

Why not? It wouldn't hurt for the PD's big brother to step in and set it straight. And honestly, how much effort is involved in posting in the NGPD? We can even write something up to post there, if and when the situation arises.

I agree that we should help them out whenever we can, but please do remember that the NGPD is its own group, and the EGB holds no authority on it. We can make our friendly recommendations as allies, but Tails' leadership over the NGPD should be respected. I'm only saying because it's happened in the past, and Tails was understandingly pissed off because of it. However, I'm sure that your assistances would be only recommendations anyway, so I'm really just being precautionary. :-)

It still amazes me what people try to steal. I still laugh when someone bothers to try to steal a flash that is ridiculously prominent on the Top 50 list. Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks for showing your interest in the Barracks! As others have already said, you don't yet meet the requirements to join. The requirements are as follows:

- B/P rank of Elite Guard Private or higher (minimum of 2,500 B/P)
- Minimum whistle status of Bronze or higher
- Good posting habits and a history of such to back it up

You seem to understand B/Ping already, but here's a link to the FAQ for convenience. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I'll answer them for you. :-)

Yeah! Now there's a victory parade in a few minutes time.

I hope the Yanks extend Kate Hudson's contract... :-P

Yeah, it could be a place where Eagle hosts a wave for his stories, for example. A place where discussions about potential members happens in real time, that sort of thing.

I also see it as a great chat room, greater than using IM or some chat on a web page. You could literally see what all of the EGB is doing at that time...I think it'd be a blast!

I read the procedure and all of your posts, so I'm glad to see that the procedure was successful, and here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

1) You will never get any better sleep then when you're knocked out with anesthesia.

I remember when I had to get foot surgery due to an accident in martial arts...I saw the guy inject something into my IV hookup, and I remember saying "So, how long before this takes affeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..." *sleep*

I woke up feeling like I just had like 20 beers...it was awesome.

2) Percasets are one hell of a drug

Oxycodone is the shit...no doubt. I'm someone with a large tolerance for stuff like alcohol and painkillers, so I can actually drive and function normally on oxy, but man, when that stuff starts working, it's like a blanket of awesome slowly coating your body. Ahhhhhhh...

3) Even though the surgeons broke my nose and cut my nostrils, nothing hurts more than a dry throat sore from the breathing pipe they put down it for the anesthesia.

Ugh...I can imagine...that doesn't seem to be a think that painkillers can easily resolve.

4) When you're 10 minutes out of surgery, don't hit on the nurses, even if they are hot. Because trust me, you look like to belong in the morgue.

HAHAHA...I'll remember that tip, thanks. Of course, you might have the Florence Nightingale effect work towards your favor, so it's worth a shot. :-P

Really? We're going to resort to this now?

This is the EXACT type of posting that got the NGPD locked. Personally, I don't want to go that route, so let's stop this immediately. If you joke around with stuff like this as part of a normal, that's fine. Otherwise, keep it off this thread. It does not belong here. I personally despise one-liner posts and post + 1 content myself, as it oozes of immaturity and stupidity. A little fun is fine, but when it gets out of hand, it gets out of hand fast. So, like I said, either roll it into a larger post, or just can it altogether. I really don't like taking disciplinary action regarding this stuff, but I will do so if necessary.

Anyway, now that the unpleasantries are out of the way, let's move on to better things:

At 11/5/09 05:04 AM, Sheizenhammer wrote: I'd say that's OK. If you look, you'll see that the submitting account has a heap of other games submitted a while ago. It may look old, but it also looks like it's a website owner uploading his / her store of games onto NG, like what happened with the Gamesforgirls account a while ago. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you; the e-mail doesn't always match up to the website name on these things.

I'd agree with this assessment. I've noticed that figuring out if a flash is stolen or not is a LOT harder nowadays that it was in the past. Back then, there weren't as many "professional" Flash sites submitting stuff to Newgrounds, so finding something like this was pretty cut and dry: simply stolen. Nowadays, these sites are all over the web, so figuring out which one is the real one just becomes harder and harder.

Happy times for the Yankee fans! I do have to give Philadelphia credit for putting up such a strong game! I must admit I first dismissed the Phillies as not being as strong of an adversary when compared to the Angels, but I was clearly wrong. It was a fight right down to the last game. Even with a 4 run lead this game was a nailbiter right until Rivera's last pitch. It had that vibe that it could bounce back any second.

I'd say it's obviosuly no secret that this could be Matsui's last year, so if he has to go, at least he did with a bang. I've never seen single-game performance like that in ages, never mine in the freakin' World Series. I don't blame the Yankees if they are opting for younger players, but it's not going to be a happy day seeing Godzilla leave New York.

In the meantime, time to celebrate big ol' 27!

Simple: it's an online collaboration tool that is supposed to remove the need for instant messages, forums, email, file servers, etc. It makes it possible to collaborate in a much easier way. It's really gauged for businesses that have multiple offices, but it's good for basically any group trying to collaborate on the Internet.

What does everyone see as so useful here? I can't see anything I haven't already seen before elsewhere. What am I missing this time? :/

The idea is everything you need is here, all at once. Nothing else necessary. Again, not anything useful for someone playing around on Newgrounds, but for a business, it's a really big deal. No more need for email, fileservers, sharepoint servers, IM servers, etc.

Yeah, you're right about that one.

I've seen this one at least seven times aready. What I think is happening is that the author doesn't know how to edit his flash after submitting it, so is deleting and re-uploading edits of it over and over.

I noticed that the Flash had steadily improved over time. At first I was blamming it, honestly, but after a while he added enough to make it protection-worthy, at least in my opinion. I don't think it was malicious...he was legitimately trying to improve the Flash. Sheiz hit it on the head with the fact that he probably just doesn't know how to edit the Flash.

If anyone knows exactly how the edit process works, it might be worth PMing him with the information in an attempt to stop all the pointless re-uploads.

I'm not sure myself. I know the Barney Bunch sure knows how... XD

MUST you keep bringing that up?? :-P

He's proven that he can hit in pressure situations and he's looking dangerous at the moment. He's done it all, including getting hit by a pitch 3 times in 2 nights. What the hell was that umpiring farce about last night? I thought that they warned the benches when A-Rod got drilled and as a result, when Lidge hit Tex, I thought he was out of there for sure.

Yeah, but i still think that second hit was unintentional. Fishy, maybe, but I doubt it was on purpose. Even Girardi didn't bother to argue it.

I'm quite interested to see how tonight will pan out. I think everyone knows that Cliff Lee is the best answer to the Yanks that the Phillies have right now. If the Yanks are gonna lose a game, tonight's probably the night.

However, I think AJ Burnett is probably the best pitcher to go up against him at this point. When Burnett is in the zone, he's damn near unhittable. When he sucks, though, he SUCKS. I'd say it could go two ways tonight: either Burnett holds his own against Lee and the game could basically come up to the Bullpens, or Burnett sucks balls and gives up 87 runs in the first inning and the Yanks try to take it back in the Bronx. Either way, a loss to the Phillies tonight seems status quo to me.

Thanks for your interest! However, as Sheizenhammer already stated, you need to be a minimum of Elite Guard Private (2500 B/P or more) to join, have an established good post history, and have a minimum of a bronze whistle.

Here is some info to get you started:

You get B/P points by going to the Flash Portal (big button in the header) and voting on Under Judgment flashes (highlighted in purple).

A flash must pass several checkpoints to pass judgment. If it's below the required score at a checkpoint, it is deleted, and anyone who voted 0 or 1 on it will gain a Blam Point.

50 votes - 0.60
100 votes - 0.75
150 votes - 1.25
200 votes - 1.60
*Note---flashes with multiple co-authors must meet higher requirements, although the exact scores needed aren't widely known.

After a flash passes 200 votes and has a score of 1.60 or higher, it is saved, and everyone who gave it a 2, 3, 4, or 5 gets a Protect Point. Also, once a flash has passed, it can never be deleted, regardless of how low its score gets. Only an admin or the author could remove it post-judgment.

Add up your Blam and Protect points to get your B/P total. The higher your total, the higher your rank---ranging from Civilian to Supreme Commander. Higher ranks give more prestige and a boost to your vote power. Click here to see a list of all the ranks, including B/P requirements, badges, and the experience boost.

Good luck! Feel free to IM me or PM me if you have questions.

I agree. My position is always risk-averse when it comes to these things as well. I'm encouraging all Barracks members to check out the latest info I provided in the Barracks regarding this. I don't believe it requires anything disciplinary towards our members, but it does require getting some things out in the open.

Anyway, what's happened has happened. I don't want to see this place fall apart over a Moderator warning. We'll take what steps are necessary to resolve this and move on. To change topics, let's talk about what I wanted to address yesterday and get back to the pleasantries!

Well, speaking for the Barracks, we have no issues with anyone similar to our club. In fact, we embrace it, and have done so in the past. However, it is up to the moderators to decide what clubs stay or go. The NGPD, for example, was initially allowed as a similar club to the EGB, but many clubs such as the "Safety Patroller's Club" were locked because they were too similar to the EGB and NGPD. I have no issues at all with clubs as such, but I respect moderators' decisions as to what is suitable for Newgrounds.

Regarding the posts, I agree with you that they are less than helpful. However, let me be clear that at this point in time, neither of the two are currently Elite Guard Barracks members. ToiletPaper, as ByteSlinger noted, is not officially a Barracks member and is in reality just an occasional visitor. PorkChop, on the other hand, was an active member of the Barracks but recently resigned due to the inability to be online. As of now, he's not on the active roster as well. However, I will take whatever means necessary to ensure our integrity here is held true.

As apparent by the OP's reaction to your posts, this is precisely why you shouldn't be twats in other threads. You really shouldn't even post a reply unless you are trying to be helpful and are at least offering a link to where you believe the user should have gone first.

I agree. I'm not too happy that either of these people spoke for the Barracks in an unofficial manner, and more helpful posts could have been provided to the user.

It is not up to you to decide whether a thread in this forum continues or not. It is up to the moderators. Going into a thread to tell a user that his club doesn't belong and then arguing with him over the merits of having such a club is exactly what the intention of the backseat moderating rule is there to keep from happening. Just because you didn't specifically say "lock this" or "this should be locked" does not mean that you didn't do so in as many words with your posts.

Again, I agree fully. As I stated in the beginning, I embrace clubs similar to ours, and we are not "elitist" in any way. While lines should be drawn as to how many groups like this can be on Newgrounds, that is ultimately up to the moderators, and we respect their decisions on that as they may be.

Honestly, if this is the kind of elitist dickery that we have to deal with, perhaps the moderation team should reconsider the validity of these types of clubs. I don't know if it's taking in former NGPD members who got that club locked and a lower standard of member in here or a circle jerk culture of elitist attitudes towards the rest of the site, but if that is how you guys are going to act when a like-club topic is made, it's almost as bad as the squabbling between the anti-anime and anime clubs back in the day.

To be honest, our standards have become nothing but more stringent since the club started. We require no less than an exemplary post quality, Elite Guard rank (of course), a bronze whistle at minimum, and a deliberation period where members vote and state their opinions on the potential recruit. Afterwards. the officers ultimately decide on the user's acceptance or rejection.

Since the NGPD was locked, we have not accepted a single member that was formerly a part of that club. However, if we do get someone interested in joining, they will be upheld to the same stringent requirements we've always had. I assure you the EGB will never tolerate spammy or post + 1 type response like the NGPD was locked for.

I'll let EagleRock decide on what to do with toiletpaper and porkchop.

Again, let me state that neither user is an active EGB member at this point, and did not speak on behalf of the Barracks. However, if either wish to become members of the EGB, these actions will be considered for the future. I apologize for the misunderstanding and misrepresentation of what we stand for here. If you wish for me to comment further, I am available via PM or AIM. I'll be happy to answer any of your questions.

Thanks for the great comments. :-) The story will take longer to update because the chapters are ending up twice the size of the first story. I should get Chapter 2 out soon, so keep checking the forums.

I have got the latest TheWeebl flash song stuck in my head, Get On My Horse is one of the best he has done I think since Owls the song is so catchy and funny too damn I cannot get the tune out of my head. Has anyone else seen it? Sill on front page. I also saw this flash very good here.
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/51 6211

I saw all three flash...damn are they funny! TheWeebl has a perfect talent for making insanely catchy music. I remember when Badger Badger came out and we first saw it at the CS department at my college. First off, it was on half the computers there at any given time, but I remember one guy was so crazy over it that he actually recorded a 40 minute loop of the song onto minidisc so he could listen to it while walking between classes and stuff. I wish I was kidding.

As far as the Owl Song, it's funny as hell, but I dunno if I'd call it catchy. Get on my Horse, however, is plain ol' classic Weebl and damned if it isn't funny. The best part is where the horse starts playing the electric paino with his hoof.

"SHUT UP WOMAN GET ON MY HORSE!"

While Rage's Thread was established with the most honourable of intentions and at first worked, the meaning was lost and people became whistle-whores and just flagged indiscriminately. Now, it's best if we don't go there.

My spidey senses detect a sore point there. But yeah, so goes the way of the Rage's Gift thread. Anything can ultimately get out of hand and basically implode itself, no matter how noble the cause at the start.

Wow, a massive /cry for the Yankee fans tonight.

I gotta hand it to Cliff Lee though...he was a god on the mound tonight! He also pitched the whole game and kept the bullpen out of it for the Phillies...helluva pitcher for sure!

Let's hope the Yanks can bounce back in Game 2!

Agreed. Thanks for the quick response, Coop! Mods specifically locked the Abusive Review thread because they stated that "sharing" reviews on the BBS as such tend to cause more harm than good.

While TurkeyBean had the best of intentions, moderators have expressly stated that no more posting of that kind would be allowed, and no attempts at recreating the thread would be tolerated. Thanks for the understanding!

Anyway, to change the topic a skosh, I've finally released Chapter 1! You can read it here: Back in the Barracks - Chapter 1

I noticed that when I posted the Prologue I ended up answering the same questions twice here in the main thread and on our private forums. I'd recommend making responses/questions/comments/whatever in the threads devoted to the stories, as that would eliminate the confusion and probably keep the main thread cleaner overall. I answer a lot of questions and tend to give additional info/insight about the story there. I notice Byte does the same for her story, so they're good threads to check! Enjoy!

Looks like it takes place in "current" times, so maybe a few of us "noobs" (who didn't get killed off in the last book) could make a cameo appearance? It should be just as engrossing as the first one -I'm just not sure of the plot line yet, though. Either way, I know I'll like it.

Yep...current time. Don't have an exact time, but I will say that the EGB Roster according to the sequel is built off of LIzz's last update, with some minor adjustments to fit it into the story (Phantom was no longer in charge, I'm dead, etc.) You can expect a lot of people to get face time in this one. And the narrator will change hands almost every chapter.

And since great minds think alike, I am pleased to let you all know that I have just finished the next chapter of my storyline:

It was quite good. I unfortunately don't have much to say at this point...there is little to speculate on, as all possibilities in your story are drilling down to pretty obvious options. Now it's just a matter of waiting patiently for you to publish the next chapter!

At 10/27/09 08:37 AM, Coop83 wrote: Nice, you made me the narrator. That's a really nice little piece you're written there and I'm going to have to find some time to get me back in the saddle to read the rest of this tale.

Yep! The narrator does change hands, so you won't be narrator every chapter, but I am trying to make this story a little less focused towards my character. Obviously that won't be too hard, since I'm dead. :-)

Hahaha...I do promise my original story gets better as time goes on. By around chapter 20 or so it basically blows wide open.

Hey Eagle, please tell me there aren't really any connections between BUF and the sequel. If so, I'm FUCKED!!!!!

Why do you say that? Are you referring to how you get killed off in Byte's story? Well, I'll give you a spoiler, here's the first sentence of Chapter 1:

"The story begins with SlntCobra1's death."

...just kidding. But you are in the first chapter. And as far as the story connectivity, it is there, but it's not as huge as you'd think. The story happens 2 years after the events of BUF, so naturally all that died are dead, etc. Slash is in charge since Phantom ended up getting sloshed all the time, Coop is second-in-command, etc. And there are little artifacts from the story that will pop up, but they don't have a humongous impact on the current plot.

I'm working ont he story tonight, so we'll see if I can get a Chapter released! Note that the chapters in this story will be larger than BUF, so they'll take longer to write. I'm not restricting myself to such a small word count so I can let the chapters arc better.

Seriously, I understand. The rulebreakers seem to have all fucked off for a long time now, and the few persistent ones have just faded into little more than background noise here. And without much to report here, the whole purpose of the club just isn't as entertaining as it is during summer holidays and such.

Good point. However, we have PIE. I mean, PIE.

Still, there's always more holidays round the corner, complete with stupid bored kids trying to troll NG. Just not right now, is all.

Maybe Slash will make a triumphant return at that point and we can do some old-fashioned B/P runs like we did in the past. Those were always fun. After all, we can't have one of the most prestigious Elite Guards ever not flexing his epeen out there on the Portal :-)

Hans Solo? Are you implying SlashFirestorm is a German version of Harrison Ford?

In other news, I finished Chapter 11 - Sacrifices on my fanfic. Go ahead and read it when you can. There's some excitement and a lot of character development - oh, and a hint as to what will happen in chapter 12.

Everyone that hasn't read this story yet needs to. Period. It's awesome.

As for PuddinN64's list, I have a list of faves especially for this time of year.

I think the part of I love about people's lists is that it shows their favorite genres quite blatantly. We know Byte is a huge horror fan while Cobra is a fan of the sci-fi action-adventure flicks. Myself? I'd say my faves are comedies. I'll toss in a few must-see comedies:

- Clerks
- Clerks II
- Basically any other film by Kevin Smith
- My Cousin Vinny
- My Blue Heaven
- Spaceballs
- Police Academy series

And if you like standup, here's a few recommendations:
- George Carlin
- George Carlin
- George Carlin

Enjoy!

My interest in NG is at an all-time low...not because of anything knocking it down, but mainly because I don't really feel any incentive at all to be active. Hell, I even missed another deposit a couple days back because I completely forgot about the site. Should I decide to resign (or, at the very least, relinquish my power and become a quasi-active normal guy), I'll let y'all know. I'm still keeping an eye on this place.

Sorry to hear that, buddy! Well, you know I'm always on AIM if you want to talk about stuff, but I can definitely say I've been in your position before. As a matter of fact, the roles were swapped. It's hard when you just don't have that drive to go on NG and keep going, especially when the Barracks is involved. At no point was I ever uninterested in the EGB, but when the Internet directs you elsewhere (read: MMORPG's) or life just takes over (e.g. actually gaining one), you just can't keep going.

I can say one thing for sure: the EGB will still be here whether or not you choose/are able to participate, so you sure don't need to feel like you're letting anyone down. However, I can also say that we'll be quite sad if you do leave and you will have many friends here that will miss you. That said, however, you need to do what you need to do. I don't think anyone would want you to force yourself to post here or do whatever, or worse, have it affect your life adversely. So do what you must, and know that I (and I am sure the rest here) will support whatever you choose.

Forceful, aren't ya. He sure is awesome, and if there's one thing I learned, getting older and the passing of time hasn't seemed to quell my interest in this place. I'm sure even if he chooses to be inactive for a while...he'll be back. He sure as hell better be back. :-)

The small price of inactivity...

I shouldn't suspect that this will effect the EGB in terms of stability. Of course we are saddened, but we are a strong bunch and users. You take time off NG if you need it.

The EGB ain't goin' nowhere if I have anything to do about it. :-) But we do have a full roster of capable members that will always be here to rise to the occasion. :-)

Anyway, my only hope is Slash gets some time to read my story, as I'd like for him to see me memorialize him in the story. :-) That being said, I AM still working on the sequel, so don't lose hope on that one just yet. Once I hit a groove in this story it'll be flowing fast and furious. I have so many ideas but am having trouble getting them out in words right now...

I'm still having problems breaking the ground with the story, but it's happening slowly but surely. I've actually written a really rough first draft of the Prologue. A-Rod is finally coming through in postseason like he should. I was never an A-Rod hater, but I must admit I'm finally glad to see him producing some golden hits in postseason like he has been!

But the Angels' fielding has been pretty poor, when the defence has sprung leaks and has basically gifted the Yanks the win yesterday in the 13th. Pressure tells, to be honest and I remember when it was the other way around and the Yanks were crumbling. We shall see.

Well, to be perfectly fair, the Angels didn't do too bad considering the conditions. Even when the rain stopped, the ball was getting so wet so easily that it was causing people to error left and right. The Yanks had some really bad errors even early on which were just NO excuse (fifth inning, anyone?). But the game had me riveted the whole time and I really think the Angels and Yanks are making a good show of it!

I'm sure it did... :-)

Speaking of that, I like the number you chose to B/P retire on, too...very satisfying stats IMO. Sad to see a veteran B/P-er hang it up, but we all have lives, ultimately...

It's been fun and of course, I can always blam the crap with Toohot100 but please take note that I'll only go at a very slow rate. Still, I could do with some work on it just to get it in the top 300 VP.

I just noticed your alt...it made me laugh for sure!

If you have any ideas on how the Top 300 B/P list can be improved, please give me some feedback.

Well, my comments weren't really an indictment against the B/P 51+ list, I was just commenting that looking at just blams and just saves really give a different perspective over the overarching B/P list. It shuffles the people around and shows where people's B/Ping habits truly lie.

You know, now you're gonna make a liar out of me now that I'm thinking about this... :-) I guess the only real suggestion I can give is to modify the "75B/P+" list to be something a bit smaller. The Portal has slowed down over the years and making 75 B/P a day used to be nothing. Now, it's basically an act of scouring the Portal for 24 hours a day. Something more like 50 B/P+ or 60 B/P+ sounds a bit more surmountable of a task. In fact, I'd say it's just as hard as it was getting 100-120 B/P in 2007. Also, I miss the "top B/Pers of the week," now that I'm thinking about it. Of course, I'm not the one that spends the hours of of my day updating that list, so I'm not one to complain, now am I? :-)

But don't get me wrong...I love the top B/P list and think you do an excellent job of it! Like I said before, I can never complain about someone volunteering their time to provide some nice stats for their fellow NG stat-whores. :-)
