It's not that simple. Do you know how unhealthy our cities would be if prostitution was legal? Rape would go way up. Women would be detered form getting real jobs if they could just have sex for money. Imagine driving down the street and seeing hookers as commonly as mail boxes.

You're right, there probably would be more women who would CHOOSE to become prostitutes. On the other hand then you could argue to get rid of strip clubs too. Besides, you say that the community would be unhealthy but that's only from your set of morals (which the government should dictate.)

Women are having sex all the time (in case you haven't been to a bar lately,) and guys are spending money every night buying them drinks to get them into bed. What's wrong with a guy deciding to cut out the bullshit and say what he's really after.

Finally, who is being harmed other than the two people engaging in the sexual act? Yes, one of them might catch a disease from the other and the girl might get pregnant but no one outside the two consenting adults is harmed. You might not want to see hookers on every other block but if that happened, it would mean there was a serious demand for it. I hate seeing a Starbucks on every fucking street corner but that doesn't mean they should make caffine illegal.

You're right, they'll probably never be legal but that doesn't make them good or bad. Too many people believe that if something's legal then it's ok and if it's illegal then it's not ok. The problem is that the governments job is not to dictate morality, it's to protect the lives of it's citizens from OTHER people.

There are a lot of drugs I don't approve of people using, that's why I don't use them but for me to tell someone else that because I find their drug(s) of choice offensive they shouldn't use them is insane. And it's not just drugs.

As the person who started this topic pointed out, what's wrong with prostitution. If some guy isn't getting any and wants to bang some hooker let him, he's not hurting anyone else. It's another example of the government playing the morality police. Free will is lost when you are kept from doing something not by choice but because of force or threat. Remember, in some states oral sex is still technically illegal because it was seen as immoral by the same people who thought slavery was good.

Are you kidding me? All drugs CAN lead to hurting but it depends on the person. I've seen people who can't handle marijuana and others who do coke and ecstacy a few times a year with no problems.

Remember when you were younger and there was a group of kids in your school everyone knew was going to grow up and do drugs? The drugs might have helped them ruin their lives but a lot of the time (not all the time) most people who knew them before they started doing drugs saw it comming.

In my humble opinion someone should have the right to take any substance into their body they wish. A person has the right to harm him/herself. You may see one drug as benificial that another might see as harmfeul or wasteful. You should have the right to make any decicions with your life that don't directly harm other people. Freedom of choice is a double edged sword. Plus, say some crackhead o.d.'s on drugs. Oh well, one less crackhead in the world.

Actually I was watching the news this afternoon when the statue came down and Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN all said that the Iraqis were mocking the human shields in the city and giving flowers to the US troops.

At least you realize that you don't have all the answers. I think by now it's obvious that the powers that be didn't get into this war to save the Iraqi people. Wasn't their original campaign "Saddam is evil because he has weapons of mass destruction?"

Then I woke up one day and we were involved in "Operation Iraqi Freedom." I guess I missed the memo. Not that I'm against the war. Though our true motivation may be tainted, the fact is Iraq will be better off in the future than it was under Saddam.

I just think it's convienient that our government picks and chooses when it will "generously" help nations (who have oil) and when we'll look the other way (because they have no money.)

As for Israel, the US will never be able to give a reasonable answer for their position. In my opinion, we are actually contributing to the disturbance in the middle east by taking a stance that appears pro-jewish and anti-islamic. As long as Israel has an aly in the most powerful nation on earth they'll continue to break resolutions and thumb their finger at Palestine and other Islamic nations.

The main problem is we're getting to involved in a holy war where everyone thinks "My religion is right and you will burn in hell for opposing ME." Kind of self centered isn't it? I think we're lucky Israel never involved themselves in the present war, if they did I'm sure Iraq would have a seen a lot more allies and this war would have been a lot bloodier. Could you imagine an Islamic crusade for the Jerusalem in this day and age? Scary.

Did you actually say that Cuba is better because they have free health care? Granted the US isn't perfect and there are things that we could do better but putting us below a communist country with a ruthless dictator is insane. I actually know wealthy people from Cuba who came to the US to live in poverty in order to escape Castro's rule.

I'm not saying that we are the greatest nation in the world because I haven't been to many other countries but let's be realistic.

I've never nought the "Let the inspections work argument." The UN couldn't find drugs at a Phish concert. The truth is I've never been totally for or against the war because both sides have such terrible arguments. Everyone is merely preaching to the converted.
The pro-war people keep saying that it's about freeing the Iraqi people and proctecting our country from attack. Bullshit. To my knowledge there has never been an attack on US soil by Iraq and as for liberating the people, when did the Republicans all of a sudden go humanitarian on us? This war is about oil.
On the other hand the anti-war people are at least as bad. When they say "Let the inspections work," it's really the Democrats way of saying "We don't mind going into Iraq, we just need to oppose Bush so people will vote against him in the next election. Even Liberman was pro-war until he announced his canidacy and his party put pressure on him. As for saying it's wrong to kill people, I'm not too concerned about that either. Death is a natural part of life, just like war. You don't have to like it but it is the truth.
In the end I have to say that even though the real motivation for the war is sinister, the result wil most likely be a positive one. Even though many Iraqi people see the US as an imperialist nation, after the war 99.9% of Iraqi citizens will be better off than they were before the war. Some "innocent" people may have to die but sometimes people have to die for others to be free

slow video Posted February 24th, 2003 in Game Development

I just finished my first video and I'm having a problem. It's about 4 minutes long and by the end of the movie the video is about 2 seconds behind the audio. It's a music video so the same song is streaming in the background the whole time. It works fine if I pause it periodically and then let it play again or if I play the .fla file in flash. I don't know if it's a problem with my computer (it is a little slow) or not. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and how I can fix it?
