Brilliant tutorial, thanks! I'll experiment with the bounce tomorrow.

So, should I animate him as a movie clip and then tween him only at precise moments? I understand in the sense that he shouldn't be moving when he has one leg on the ground, that's near enough impossible without looking stupid. :P

Yeah, I feel like I made him drop earlier due to the lack of space on stage.
And the cycle is FBF, so I suppose I need to decrease the spacing a little bit. Thank you! :)

I think it's a fine idea. I purposely invite my plumber over (Tommy Vitorelli) and then inject my hedgehog with steroids to see what happens.
The fuck am I reading?
Also, another thing, surely I could download a modern day Adobe version of Flash and I could still keep Macromedia Flash 8 as they are two completely different developers, no?

Okay, for animation, it's convenient.
And I'm really not even past the basics on programming yet, plus, I plan to get my art and animation top notch before even thinking about making games and whatnot. For the projects I have planned, I probably only need to make a few buttons and a few onstage movie clips so I think AS1&2 will do for now. :P
There's never enough comedy in the world.
Provided you answer the question, don't be afraid to make fun of it as much as you can aswell. If you were to simply answer a question every episode, it wouldn't be worth watching at all... I mean, I have a lot of questions to ask now that I've gotten back into Flash and animation. I think it's a good idea, but originality is key. ;)
I was told recently that I was lucky to still have Macromedia Flash 8, whereas I just felt that I was incredibly behind the times. Not having AS3 is kinda inconvenient, but I think that's the only hinderance really.
Does anybody else still use Flash 8? Is it better than the Adobe updates? Or does it really matter at all?
Thanks,

Yeah, I've always preferred older programs. I still have Word '97 for christ's sake...
Only problem with Flash 8 is the lack of AS3, however, I think I can rejuvenate the old AS1&2 in order to get by.

Confusing, this said anything to do with scripting.
This is really annoying me, I've tinkered with it for ages but to no avail.
What is the error in this script? I honestly don't see it.
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (Key.isDown(Key.UP)) {
_y -= 10;Â _rotation = 270;
}
-----------------------------------------------
For the error, it says this:
**Error** Scene=Scene 1, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:Line 3: Syntax error.
_y -= 10;Â _rotation = 270;
Total ActionScript Errors: 1 Reported Errors: 1
-----------------------------------------------
Please help me out people.
Thanks,

Or you could just put
stop() ;
in the actions of the last frame of the timeline?

Simple answer. Thank you very much. :)
Hello,
I have an understanding of using the Flash interface. I can get around on it. I just need some tutorials that really help me use what really matters when it comes to art and animation. I think I just doodle these days and mess around with shape tweens and make pretty things happen. Obviously I want to animate some awesome battles and shiznik. So far, I've just found some really mundane tutorials on Flashkit and stuff. Anyone know any fun, motivating ones?
Thanks,
~ DustyPeach
Hello there. I am new, somewhat, in terms of recent times.
I was here when I was 13 or 14, around 5 years ago. Naively making animations of bubbles killing each other and sobbing when they got blammed. YOU MEAN PEOPLE.
On a serious note, I was just wondering what the the regulations for submissions is again: I still have Flash 8, can I submit files from Flash 8 on here still? I don't see much of a difference. The files are practically the same.
I really do hope so, I do not have the finances for another Flash upgrade.
Thank you.
