Great idea. But then it wouldn't make much sense to call it Pico Day, would it? A name change may be in order...

They were useful in showing how popular a flash really is. If you see one of those medals at the top of the page, you automatically assume it must be worth seeing, considering thousands of others did. Sure, you can look at the # on the side, but it just doesn't cut it.

Maybe they could be integrated in some other way; with updated graphics to match the new layout.

Well actually protect points. All their crap passes.

So you're saying you protect these movies when they are submitted because you "know" they will pass? You're only making the problem worse, for your own greed for protection points, which nobody really cares about btw. That's pretty selfish. Vote fairly, not for points.

And why is K-Fed back on the front page? It says "due to recent events"... what recent events? Sorry, I couldn't think of a better place to post that question.

One of my favorite funny flashes of all time went completely unnoticed, just about. It didn't even pass pending here on newgrounds but it was accepted on another website. It still lacked in recognition for the short time the site was around. The flash was in two parts. "Doomnation" was the title. I wish i could at least find the guys who made it and see if I could obtain a personal copy of the flash myself, because I really liked it that much. If I do get a hold of them I'll see what I can do about getting a link. Other than that, there is one more flash that went rather unnoticed, yet I still found to be funny, is a submission of my own (self-promotion, ew). And no, the graphics and animation were not important to us in the making of:
The Ice Cream Adventure

And on a side note, although you are inquiring on funny submissions, I found this one on another website as well, it's got a good message and was recieved very well by the audience. It's also a personal favorite.
The Sunscreen Song

Hey, it's happened to me before as well.. it really sucked because I missed out on alot of coverage I think the submission should have recieved... nothing to do about it though. Just the way the system works. I'd rather say my submission recieved 100,000+ views than say it recieved a weekly second place award to someone. Most employers or folks not familiar with Newgrounds wouldn't understand the importance of an award like that. But the amount of views and good reviews it recieves IS noteworthy no matter what. Many professional flash authors don't even submit to Newgrounds, yet they land jobs and such because of their talent and amount of popularity; without any Newgrounds awards.

Knox is a true example of a Newgrounds success story. Amazing how influential of an impact Newgrounds has made over all these years in "the industry", and needless to say how beneficial it has been to so many artists. If that ain't a reason to love Newgrounds, I don't know what is.

It must be real exciting to be where you are getting now. Good luck in all your future projects, and congratulations for all your achievements.

One small thing I wanted to say is, you should really check up your grammar and spelling. It may not seem important to you, but to alot of people, it can make a huge difference to them, as far as judge of character goes.

woo, I'm back and I see that Altered Reality was (in my opinion) a success!

It was nice working with everyone. I am with RAWR on all the stuff he said about his experience in the collab. I wanted to go back and redo most of my part, mostly because I made it a year ago, before I even had Flash 8. I just got done reading through the 100+ reviews, and I can't believe how many mixed opinions we recieved. I liked it, though. Interesting stuff. I reccomend to anyone to read through them all when you get the time. Anyway this collab has been both stressful and fun at the same time. I'm up for working with anyone on a future project if they're interested.

Just to keep everything up-to-date, I finished that list of errors like yesterday or something, and Starogre is workin on it and stuff, so.. once he finishes that, he'll probably release a beta or something and then submission will engage... but I am leaving tonight until like saturday, so.. I'm unavailable till then.

I am proposing something interesting.. since we are practically done by tomorrow sometime, and it would end up being submitted either tomorrow or the next.. why don't we just wait an extra week and submit on the one-year anniversary? It's the 29th of this month (pretty much a week after it's finally finished)! Might as well wait, I think. Just for the heck of it. Unless no one is willing to wait that long. Any objections..?

Flashkid, I thought you left for good or something. Hmm.. anyway, yeah my negative script was removed, and replaced by a photoshop image or something, I dunno, Starogre did it. The part actually freezes after the negative flash anyway, when the robot casts his shadow on the guy... so I don't believe it would be a script problem, unless like mogly said, there is still a stray piece of code lying around somewhere? Anyway your parts are both in and work fine, but we couldn't use the filler that you made because the .fla was super glitchy. I even tried decompiling the .swf file, and it still fucked up flash anyway. So the .swf is just in the extras>unused menu.

Wow, this is so weird. Anyway yeah, I put the embedded video there, it was never really a problem, and it isn't playing at the part where the error occurs, so it's fine I think.

Mogly, I didn't know there was a flash player 9? Umm.. yeah I guess that could possibly be part of the problem. I watched one of my favorite Livecorpse movies the other day, and there is a new error that occurs in it that never did before (a sound error). I think there might just be something wrong with the flash player itself.. I have no idea.

Anyway, I looked through the menu last night and I found quite a few errors in the extra's menu/bios menu (button errors mostly), so Star, I'll help you fix those when you get back (I would do it myself but I don't have the .fla)

Aw shucks. It just had to be my part, didn't it? :(
Yeah, it crashed my windows explorer for me too when it gets to my part. I really hope it can be fixed.. it just makes no sense that it JUST started doing that.

Anyway, you mentioned something about taking out all the background animations and jpegs out because of an extreme lag. I think frostedmuffins was right when he said it's only because you had the file at such a large size. When I viewed the menu on Mogly's site, everything ran smoothly and clean, and I don't even have that great of a computer compared to most people. So... as far as I'm concerned, the menu is perfect, other than the dumb scroll button error where you need to click the arrow twice to scroll up... dunno wtf is up with that. It didn't do that when I made it either.

And rawr, I thought about doing that animatic idea to, and it's too bad it wouldn't work. Many reasons: not everyone included the music in their animatic; not everyone made their animatic at the specified dimensions; and most of all, not everyone made an animatic. Otherwise it would be pretty cool, and I think people (other than just us) actually might have been interested to watch it, if they are interested in the whole animation process/behind the scenes stuff. Same thing with all of the extra's content. That's why I spent so much time going through every page of the thread to find everything everyone had posted so I could include it. I always think the more, the better.

Anyway I finally get to see the whole complete movie (except for my damn part..) and I think it looks awesome. Now that I look back on the parts that were actually finished almost a year ago, alot of people have improved since then (especially me... yikes). There was only one thing that sorta threw it all off, and that was when parts didn't sync together very nicely. I know they weren't really supposed to, but if they had it would have looked much cooler. Anyway am personally glad to have worked with everyone in this collab, even if you hated working with me. You're all extremely talented, so let's make this a success for everyone.

..We'll make the best of it at least. Sorry this has become such a pain in the ass for some people.

The only things I can think of... is close out all system processes that are not necessary, to increase system memory space. I would reccomend splitting the files apart, but for the final linking up, it all needs to be combined, doesn't it? Hmm... a last thing you could try (you probably can't do this though) is send the .fla to a different computer that doesn't have anything on it and would be capable of giving it's full attention to the program. So if you have an old computer sitting around.. hmm.. nah I doubt you do. I do though. I guess you could send me the .fla file and I could send it to my old computer (which is completely cleared off) and maybe it would work then. Buuut.. no, you probably have to edit all the shit yourself unless you can tell me what to do. Other than those shitty ideas, I can't really reccomend anything other than just having to bear with the 2 minute freeze every click... or, you can go out and buy some parts to make your computer the fastest thing on the planet ;).

I had it finished last night. I met my deadline. But my internet went out, and I couldn't email it. But I got on this morning a little after starogre posted the above message and sent him the file, and he is currently working on getting it linked up with the movie file. The final movie with menu and everything combined - should be uploaded to starogre's website later today for beta testing. And if all is well with everyone, tomorrow around 8 o'clock, Altered Reality will hit the portal!

Holy shit it feels good to say that.

*Oh yeah. Starogre, if you could do the photoshop thing for my part where the actionscript used to be that would be cool. And in that case, you can remove Glaiel from the special thanks part of the credits, since it was his code. Other things: Imageshack did make the whole thing alot laggier than it will be at normal size. But I can still cut back on some of the blurs and all. And as for the quality selector, I don't think we'll be needing that, because the menu is automatically defaulted on low quality as it is. If you went higher, it would have an unbearable lag.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm sorry I'm so busy lately. I'll work on it tonight. But I'll be out all day tomorrow again. So I'll probably have it DONE and sent around tuesday night. That's my deadline. That gives enough time to get everything beta tested and shit. But yeah RAWR I really like what you did, if you could please email me that .fla of what you just made I can integrate that in with what I did already, and hopefully finish that all up on tuesday. Hmmm... other than that.. sorry for being the slow one guys. It would be done sooner if I wasn't so damn busy.

Practically done. Ignore the weird size that imageshack made it, and also ignore the shitty preloader, I am redoing it completely. I need to finish a couple bios, get all of the extra content added and linked up, as well as the scene selection (starogre is helping with that), redo the preloader, and fix up some coloring to make things easier to read. I'm very busy from today through tuesday, but I will try to get it all done with whatever time I have on the computer (I also have this damn NG sketchbook page to finish.. gah I'm screwed). Criticism is welcomed.

In the menu, there is a scene selection, and I listed the scenes by names of authors. So they can go to that list and see, for example, "Starogre" on the list, click the button, and watch his part. Or, they can go to the bio section, which links to both the authors website and NG profile, and find out all the information they need. I currently have "bio pics" there, which some of you submitted to me, but since everyone will have their own little logo in the credits anyway, I can just replace the bio pics with a snapshot of a scene from your part. So there you go, now there are 3 ways for people to know who did what, and the movie won't be interrupted by people's names. Sound good? It's the best option anyways, considering we can't put people's names in corners and stuff because of cameras.
