I don't find it a threat, I just oppose it being forcefully done in a church, mosque or in any other place of worship in which that religion does not support homosexuals being married.

Response to: Why Government Can't Run A Business Posted May 25th, 2009 in Politics

I think the government should really be limited, and not even have an option for this stuff. The only thing that I can see coming from a large government is eventually oppression. The smaller the better. I think we should have an army and all, but only for national protection.

Even if this was a shift to conservatism, why the hell is that a bad thing?

Response to: Look, Banning Abortion Wont Work Posted May 25th, 2009 in Politics

Wow, the problem with this argument is the fact that abortion was not always legal d. only about thirty years ago did it become legal. Alcohol was always legal, but then it was banned for some time, then became legal again. abortion was always ILLEGAL until the sevnties. so if your logic is correct, that something that is changed will eventually be changed back, then wouldn't abortion be changed back to an illegal status? also, do you think that people will go like "Oh no! abortion is banned!" I was going have this child, but now it looks like i need to abort it!"

Response to: Why are people against gun control? Posted May 24th, 2009 in Politics

One reasons the founding fathers actually made the second amendment is because they figured that if the government is indeed to powerful and oppressive, the civilians should have a chance at an armed rebellion, like the patriots did against the British when they did not want to be oppressed. Another reason is for self defence. If a criminal wants to commit a crime, and guns are illegal, what is going to stop him from illegally getting one? It will only stop the citizen to protect himself and his family from the criminal with the gun.

It's weird, my position on this has always been pro-choice, until I saw a clip of how they perform an abortion. It's really bad. They have to like crush the skull of the infant in order to get it out, and it looks like a regular baby. So that made me sick to my stomach.
Wow, something is yukky so I think it should be banned.

What about torture? Cant we just rip people arms off, but it shouldnt be banned, because it is just "Yukky"

Mm as soon as I posted I thought this would happen. Let me clarify what I mean.
In my post i was not necessarily saying that I classify fetuses as "human" (or not human), but rather the point I was attempting to make was that most pro-lifers are not vegetarians and thus obviously don't have a problem with the killing of animals, contrary to the apparent message of the post I was replying to.

Ya, well, I have no problem eating animals, because hell, if i had to choose between an owls life and a life of a human, it most certainly will be a human. It is our human nature to eat meat. But, it is in our human nature to reproduce, which is what sex is for. Im not saying that only have sex for children, but you have to be ready if you do get a child, and not just kill it off for your own self. If you honestly dont want kids, then go get a vasectomy or go get your tubes tied. murder is punishable for years in prison, but as long as the human is an innocent baby, then according to the government it is ok. Undo the murder laws, and the abortion law will make sense, but to have murder laws in place, but to have another law completely violating it is retarded.

Response to: Is torture legitimate? Posted May 20th, 2009 in Politics

I believe torture is only acceptable if it could help get information that could save lives. Anyway, the people who water-board the terrorists are water-boarded themselves. Also, the things we do at guantonamo are nothing compared to the shit that happened to POWS during WWII by Japan, and Vietnam. I think McCain would be better for this Guantanamo bay issue, because he wasn't water-boarded. He was put in solitary confiment for two years. He had his arms broken repeatedly. That is far worse, and the only reason the Vietnamese were doing that to him was to make him sign a paper saying he was a war-criminal, not even for some military intelligence.

However, for Americans, my theory is simply this.
Since the Birth of the US, they have been allowed and encouraged to have guns, and many Americans view the 'right to bare arms' an essential Freedom.

What? We view it as a needed thing? No, some just view it as a freedom that should not be infringed, since it says so in the amendment it self, the right to bare arms, and a well regulated militia, shall NOT be infringed. So, some people think, hold on, I think this is infringing something in our constitution, I think they shouldn't do that, So i will oppose it. We view it as something that shouldnt be messed with, not as a needed freedom. We want it to be a freedom, but not as a "Essential Freedom"

Response to: Should The Us Civil War Been Fought Posted May 14th, 2009 in Politics

the common mis conception about the civil war was that it was started to free the slaves. It actually was started to make the south rejoin the northern states. Abraham Lincoln later added the freeing the slaves part later on, during the war, so that he would get more backing from the abolitionists.

Who here think that a gun, MEANT to kill someone is a bad idea for protecting your family from a dangerous intruder. Banning assault rifles will do nothing to stop criminals form getting them, but only taking them out of the hands of trained people who want to protect their family from the criminal who illegally bought the weapon
