I think that we can agree that it is impossible to objectively know whether free will does or does not exist, as the debate ultimately centers around the inherent nature of atoms and the complexity of the mind, two things we will never understand in complete detail. At best, we can only postulate, and really the answer is kind of irrelevant -- we just have to make the best choices we can in life and strive for the most prosperity for all. Will discovering the true existence of free will change this? Well, if we realize it does exist, society's resolve to improve itself will be reaffirmed, a result of the hope gained from knowing our actions have meaning and purpose. If it does not exist, I suspect human progress will falter, as people are robbed of the motivation to self-improve, feeling that everything is determined and striving is meaningless.

Basically, we will never know for sure if free will actually exists, but I'd like to believe it does.

Calculus isn't nearly as inherently difficult as you make it out to be. Any guy with an 85 IQ can learn it if he puts in the effort to really understand the fundamental concepts. The reason so many students fail at it is because they have this flawed belief that they aren't smart and calculus is beyond them.
