Now I don't thing the constitution meant this kind of right. "In order to keep a well regulated militia..." When the constitution was created, its writers never imagined that the US would have such a powerful army. Up until then, the people had defended themselves. We don't have minutemen anymore. We don't rely on civilians to protect ourselves from the VERY unlikely event of an invasion on US soil. There is no good reason to own a gun except to protect yourself from others with guns.

War sucks, civil war sucks. But damnit, it's progress. It's the larval stage that creates a country. The US had a civil war and we came out ok. I don't think we could have achieved what we have today without it. Let the citzens fight for what they believe is right.

They cant kill everyone. There will be violence and one side will win. This was common a long time ago with today's modern countries. Iraq just got held back a few years. Let it grow.

I don't like war, it doesn't make me happy when i hear that our soldiers killed another group of insurgents. But this is something that just happens in countries. It HAS to happen. Cold? maybe, but it is sound reasoning.

"Could Iraq ever be stable with equal parts sunni and shiite?"
it's the same as asking:
"Could the US have been stable keeping slavery in the south and freedom in the north?"
