I have a button, "button." Inside the button, on frame 2, "over," is a movie clip "background." When I roll over the button, frame 2 "over" of the button shows up and plays "background" from the beginning, and stops on the last frame. When I click on the button, it goes to frame 3, "down." Now, when I release the button, it automatically goes back to "over," and starts playing "background" from the beginning again.
I don't want "background" to restart on frame 1. I want it to return to the last frame and stop, instead.

I have a script on a button (lets call it "button") that plays the frame of a movie clip outside of the button when it gets rolled over.

But I want "button" to perform a different action when I release it; namely, I want "background" to go to and play a frame of another movieclip ("tree") that is inside it when I release "button." If you're confused, "tree" is a movieclip inside "background" and "background" is a movieclip inside "button."
Would someone tell me how to do this with Actionscript 2?
You're quite right there, but everything is fixed now - if you could please point me in the direction of the original splash screen then that would be very helpful, thanks.
I don't know what the problem is, but really simple things like these are best to figure out by yourself.
Instead of ordering it online, go to a good computer store and look at what they have there. I think I went to PC Richards for my tablet, and it was better than what I saw online.
The other day I downloaded Flash CS3, and when I opened it up there was this annoying-as-hell splash screen protesting the war in Iraq with explosion and machine gun sounds. (Also the activation code thing didn't work.) After I spent about 4 hours searching online I finally found a way to fix everything including the activation code, but I had to replace the splash screen with something I made on the spot. Does anyone know where I can find the original splash screen for Flash CS3? Also if anyone had the same problem I did and can't figure out what the fuck to do I'll try to help.

Part of the reason it looks messed up is because the feet are like blobs, while the rest of the body is solid and has a definite shape. Also, instead of really going anywhere the feet just shuffle around while the whole body moves so it looks like hes sliding on ice very slowly rather than picking his feet up and pushing his body forward. You need to show his legs bending, going back and forth and forcing his body to move, step by step, but that's not what you're doing. It's annoying, but rather than make the feet into a movie clip and move the whole body at once, where everything moves at the same time, you should do it fbf. Here's a walk cycle I just did - it's messy and a little fast, but if you play it frame by frame you can see how it works. http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stic kas9.swf The body kind of pauses when the feet are closer together and then speeds up when the legs go in opposite directions. It's not perfect but you get the idea.

No, I didn't mean animate in Stick Animator, save it and put it into flash. Other than the stick there's nothing else to animate, and that's just stupid. I meant is there any way I can make a pivot animation directly in flash, using something like actionscript?
I've been pretty savvy to flash for a while, but I just found out about pivot animations. With all the stick flashes I've seen I don't know WHY I hadn't ever heard the term before. But I do remember a nice little game called stick animator that I played a few years ago and I'm guessing it uses the same mechanics.
My question: how do you make objects in flash pivot on each other like the game above?

It didn't work... this isn't just one frame that the subtitles need to be scaled, though, you get me? It has to change a lot with the camera. When you said "(enterframe)" what do I do when I need to put in multiple frames? I don't know actionscript at all, so sorry if i sound like a noob. ):
I thought about that, but then i would need to make a whole bunch of frames for the subtitles inside the camera, and that may lag things up a bit.
So, I'm working on a flash for spanish class, and it's due soon. I still have a few things left to do, such as touching up on effects and whatnot. I decided to spiff things up using an actionscript camera, and if you would kindly view my progress here, then you can see it looks alright so far, and the actionscript camera gives it some excitement.
BUT! If you look harder, youll see that the subtitles are missing when the camera isnt zoomed out to fit the screen. In order for my fellow classmates to understand the song they have to see the subtitles, and thus this is my predicament.
Is there any way to make something, ie. the subtitles, unaffected by the actionscript camera? I tried putting it in the layer above, but to no avail. BBS, send me your wisdom!

I wonder how long they'll keep dishing new Pokemon out? They were pretty cool up until recently but now their designs are just getting repetative... for example, how many electric rodents are they going to make before they realize it's gotten old? Goths and emos can be very similar, almost indistinguishable from eachother, at times. However, the really hardcore goths are completely different from emo kids. Hardcore goth is... well, have you ever watched Lilium? Goths associate more with death itself and morbid, bloody things like that. Emos think more about death as a concept though, I think. Emos are just sad and lonely, with emotional problems, and they wan't die because their lives suck. Goths are cooler because they've been around longer, but emo just recently popped up. Not only that, goths generally contribute more to society. Some goths write really good poetry, stories, and even songs. Emos do not. Their songs are whiney, they dress like girls, if they ARE girls they become lesbians, and generally all they do is annoy. Plus, the idea of emo now and the idea of emo 15 years ago is completely different. Emo was kinda cool back then. It's bands were good and well-known. Now all the emo bands are independent cockmongers who live on and breathe myspace.
Emos suck, Goths are cool(er).

EE&E had a gun run and I liked it when I was in elementary school, but it's gotten old. I find it so much more comforting to know that this generation will spend its childhood watching crappy dubbed versions of anime that has been long since over in Japan.
When you're texting on a phone it's alright, because no one wants to spend the time pressing in a hundred buttons in proper English. But when you're on aim or a forum you should at least try to, things like capitilization and apostraphes aside. In fact, I find it HARDER to type in 1337 or aim slang. It's just too confusing.
