Animating requires lot of script?

Hello everyone, I used to make flash animation in the past but always exported them in AVI In order to use it on other programs. However I would like to make animations in order to upload them here on newgrounds, I am worried to spoil my work if I do something wrong since I don't know anything about scripting, beside some tutorials about buttons and the like. Are there any important steps that I need to know before starting to make, say a frame by frame animation, including a button and a preloader?
Help will be greatly appreciated, and sorry for my english.
