Okay you guys.. I need some help to settle a bet. To prevent bias, I will not reveal which party I am in this matter. Please give your opinion on this matter, as a $20 bet is on the line!

Okay.. two people are playing Mario Kart 64 on the N64. Let these two people be known as Person A and Person 1. They are playing a battle on Big Donut. Person A has a ghost, and Person 1 has a banana. They run around the donut for awhile before they stop and just stand still. Person A, playing as Mario, tries to spin out Person A, playing Bowser by running into him fast while Bowser is stopped, but Mario ends up being spun out. Mario retreats to the other side of the donut and stops, creating a stalemate. Person 1 tells Person A to just use his ghost on the banana so they can go on. Person A says that he will use the ghost only after Person 1 uses the banana. This continues for a few minutes. Person A says, "I'll bet you $20 that I can outlast you." After arguing over the terms, it is decided that Person A wins the bet if Person 1 uses the banana before Person A uses the ghost or if Person 1 wins the game before either item is used. Person 1 then purposefully jumps into the lava. He says, "Oh, I guess you have to do this first," and he holds down the Z button to hold his banana on his tail. He then jumps in the lava again and re-emerges with one balloon and no banana. Player A ends up using the ghost before losing the game.

So who should win this bet? From Player A's perspective, Player 1 loses because he hit Z, which Player A believes is the "Use" button. Player 1, however, believes that Player A lost because he never "Placed" the banana on the course, rather that he never used it, and it was simply lost in the lava. It follows in Player 1's argument that since Player A used the ghost before the game ended, he should win.

While I believe that both parties need to get a life, neither party wishes to concede. Thus, the only way to resolve the argument is to get an outside opinion. Please use your best judgement and realize that bragging rights and pride are on the line. Thank you so much for you time and fair judgement.

Regards,
Dokeun

Like I said, you're an idiot. There's no arguing with someone with a closed mind. Abortion isn't murder, it's the termination in a pregnancy. By your definition, NOT having sex would be murder also because it's denying potential humans a life. Abortion is legal because it is a basic right for a woman to choose to have a baby or to not go through with her pregnancy. It's not killing because the fetus was never born! And your counter-argument on rape and murder makes no sense. Those laws are to establish punishment for people who do those things, which are obviously criminal. It is not criminal for a woman to choose to end her pregnancy.

In general, I am against teh death penalty for common criminals. And of course, I believe that sociopaths suffer from diseases and thus they must be treated instead of being locked up at taxpayer's expense.

However, I do believe that certain sociopaths must pay a minimum price to understand that what they have done is a crime, in this particular case, the minimum price should be that he gets flogged 100 times before being hanged, like they do with murderes in iran.

We have this neat thing called the Constitution. Then, they passed this thing called the Bill of Rights. According Amendment VIII in the Bill of Rights, we do not allow cruel and unusual punishment in the United States. That would include flogging.

Besides, rape is not usually a capital offense these days. Back when it was illegal to be black, it was a capital offense for a black person to rape a white person, but nowadays rape does not carry capital punishment.

D'oh! You're an idiot.
What right do you have to control what a woman does with her body? People have the right to choose whether or not they want to deal with a screaming brat. If you don't want an abortion, don't have one I say. Keep your mind out of other people's business.

Since you're one of those people who introduce the "babykiller" argument, I'm going to assume that you're a pious freak. In that case, there's no arguing with you, because you'll spit out the same argument every single time.

I'm sure that you're a Republican, so consider that the Republican environmental policy is causing the death of millions of animals before you accuse people of killing babies. Republican policies in Iraq have resulted in the deaths of over 100,000 noncombatant Iraqis.

The one argument that proves that abortion should be legal is the Theory of Abolisionism. That is that if something is illegal, people will do it anyway, just unsafely. Thousands of women die from illegal abortions performed by uncertified doctors. When real doctors perform them safely, abortions are safe to the mother.

Finally, please don't go around crying that pro-choice people are babykillers since fetuses are NOT babies. Fetuses, in the stages in which abortions are legal, are asexual pseudo-humans. They are unfeeling and unthinking. They are terminated painlessly. And please consider the fact that rape victims and young girls deserve to have the right to abortions, and unwanted children would probably be raised in an abusive environment anyway.

The multi-trillion-dollar debt is the legacy of Reagan and the neo-con Republicans like Bush who came after him. They have no concept of economy. Alexander Hamilton made it a priority to pay off debts when he established the whole concept of a National Bank. Apparently the conservatives are content to rack up debt and leave it for later generations to pay off. This kind of stuff does not go away.

Think about this, over 3 trillion dollars of debt is debt to foreign investors. That means that 3 trillion dollars of our GDP is OWNED by foreign investors. This is not good. And recently the Republicans raised the debt ceiling to $8 trillion in an attempt to sweep even more debt under the carpet. This kind of economic policy, spending and spending while cutting taxes, cannot work. It will come back to haunt us.

We'd probably would have found way to make oil.

It would be incredibly difficult to MANUFACTURE oil. Near impossible in fact. The sad fact is that we are going to have to become more efficient in our use of energy and we are going to have to find alternate sources. More effective wind, solar, and hydroelectric power seem promising. As for cars, more efficient engines will have to be produced, along with more efficient hybrid technology using ethanol, electricity, etc.

Idiot. The Patriot Act is a law passed IN the US, about US citizens! Of course it affects US citizens! It gives the government the right to do whatever they want! The purpose is to be able to arrest anyone they want without due process just because they're perceived as a threat. There are many documented cases of this happening to US citizens, and it's a serious threat to our rights. For instance, if you yell "I HAVE A BOMB" in an airport, you will be held for questioning before charges are filed.

Patriot Act, Anti-Terrorism laws...all they need is a claim of "reasonable suspicion" and they can do whatever the fuck they want, but they'll never have to supply proof, because it's all classified.

They could throw you in Guantanamo Bay if they felt like it, it's that simple.

They lock you up, then torture you until you deperately tell them that you're a terrorist, and they stop the torture then, they have what they want, then you get fucked over by a bullshit legal system which makes your admission applicable.

Land of the Brave and the Free?

Bullshit.

This is absolutely 100% correct here. Anyone anytime anywhere can be searched for no reason at all due to the Patriot Act. You can be held forever, I repeat, FOREVER with NO charges EVER being filed against you WHENEVER the government feels like it's convenient. This is what the Republicans want. This is the cause of the end of all rights, and it's all for the purpose of "security."

A great man once said, "When you give up liberties for security, you end up with neither." That man was none other than Benjamin Franklin.

This thread is a tribute to the upcoming 200,000th submission to NewGrounds. I started a threat regarding the 100,000th submission about 18 months ago. It took only 18 months for another 100,000 submissions, while it took many years for 100,000 to accumulate. This shows how much NG has grown and how big a phenomenon NG really is.
