Alright, noobish problem, I searched through the threads and couldn't find any non photoshop related solution...

Anyways, trying to set a gif image in my profile settings, the image in question was ripped from my myspace (old harddrive failure, I don't have it anymore.) and when trying to upload it tells me there is a transparent background. So obviously I can't upload it.

It originally started as a JPEG and I converted to GIF if that makes a different, but from what I know, both files most likely had the background.

I just need to know how to fix the problem using MS Paint, since I don't currently have a working versiona of Photoshop.

Sorry if this has been posted vigorously(I'm sure it has.) Just trying to fix this bloody issue, been at it researching for a while with no luck.

Thanks in advanced!

Needs more low end definitely, or a heavy low hit at the end of the clip.

Maybe also some percussion? Light tympani roll or some shit.

Definitely needs low end.

Other than that though, it sounds perfect for an opening tune.

Great job, and amazing idea, thanks for helping the community man :D

Important chords would be the dominant 7 chords (flat 7)

and if you can learn to make swing patterns that's a really good start.

Basic progression for jazz starts would be 1-4-5 progression.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned, if you've got some knowledge on sound design, Massive is... well Massive. Kontakt for sampling, and z3ta+imposcar work magic.

IMHO free promoting, unless he changes the artist name and tries making money I'd leave it be, just contact the guy and thank him for helping you promote, lol.
See what happens there.

Response to: Reason - Best and Worst Refills Posted May 2nd, 2008 in Audio

There's a lot of pisspoor stuff out there, personally etheral atmosphere is phenominal with some resampling and editing (out of reason unfortunately, what a hastle) but for the most part samples in non-refill form seem to work for me better.

Chemical Synths 1 is phenominal too, forgot about that one :D

Go to dogsonacid.com and get some of their samples, magical stuff over there, that and some beastly talented individuals.

Doctor attitude... I make IDM DnB Breakcore. It's experimental right now, give it a listen!

Only have 4 of my tunes up, but I'd definitely love critique if anyone has some!

lol
ya know what i mean ? it's gotta be felt!

:) let the kick move your BODY! Nubbin is write. Your hoover in that song doesn't have much low frequency either.

And the punchy sound I DEFINITELY agree with.

For the kick, you can add a compressor to realling bring out the sound.. though another great technique is layering your drums... for instance having multiple kicks trigger on one hit. It'll give more dynamics, volume, you can you try different kicks and get the qualities of all them :)

On my charts sometimes I have 3-5 snares trigger at ONCE when that beast comes around. The snare has to be gnarly for DnB.

Acid is an alright program to use, but if you're just learning I'd HIGHLY recommend Fruityloops Reason or Ableton Live. First being easiest to pickup last being hardest.

PM me if you want any more tips and I'll look for an acidpro help faq for you :)

It bugs me how you get 4000 downloads in one day on all your POTC songs when you just changed a string with a synth.

The ends of a song justifies the means. If it's good it's good. Hell Timbaland does it way fucking worse but we still have the media sucking his cock every goddamn day.

Response to: What about ProTools? Posted April 3rd, 2008 in Audio

I forgot to say, I use Ableton Live, Reason 4 and Cubase (for mastering).

Ableton Live is also a good route to go :)

I have nothing against it...just I read that just about every song here (im talking techno, dance, trance etc) is made using fruityloops. Does anyone use/know of Pro Tools. My roomate is a recording artist and makes hip-hop beats with ProTools and it seems pretty.....well...pro. I asked him if it can be also used to make techno and such and we played around with it and it can make some kick ass electronic beats.

When used correctly ProTools can have more power... but I don't personally know anyone who can prove these words to be true. It is the music industry standard, however, and a lot of the built in features are amazing. Fruityloops is a great tool and you can make professional sounds with it, but I personally feel you can do more with other DAW's.

As the person replying before me though, there's no way you can switch to protools and be an amazing producer. Just a different environment made for different things.

If you're having some trouble getting a good sound with fruityloops though, I highly recommend Reason. It's a standalone to be sure, but the workflow and tools will teach you a lot about production and you can use that for your VST supported DAWs later :)

Do I really need to correct you again?

Also, many professionals use JUST FL Studio. Or JUST Reason. Or JUST SONAR. Or JUST Logic. Its not like you need all of them.

And, for the third time, Pro Tools > Logic. Stop trying to give people a false view.
why do you say that Pro Tools is more functional than Logic? This isn't necessarily true at all. Just because it uses a native 48bit integer mixing engine does not make it superior. In fact, Pro Tools is ugly as all get out and useless unless you have the accompanying hardware like the 882's and core, mix and farm cards anyway (unless you go straight for the HD systems...you'll spend a pretty penny on that). Unless you own a 48 channel SSL console and you're running over 100 high resolution plugins...you normally don't need a massive protools rig...you just need the necessary computing power to handle the data your running.
The best program is the one the one that best fits the composers style. Pro-Tools is the industry standard because of it's powerful editing tools, but as far as sequencers go there really is no best bet. Also it's important to note that you may want two separate programs one for editing one for sequencing once you get to an advanced level. Pro-Tools and Reason for example make one very powerful combo.

Some programs are good for beginners like FL Studio, Garage Band (mac), and ACID Studio. Reaper is not such a great beginners program but it's free so you may want to go that way.

EVERY professional artist will say this. Use what suits you best!

Reason has a quick workflow, and lots of creative outlets. Also it's intuitive.

Fruity loops is also good, with an all around intuitive work atmosphere, it has VST support and also good professionally. It has limitiations, those all have good work arounds however.

Logic IS good. Pro tools is also wonderful, they're different, but barely. It's preference here.
Also you can use Cubase which works marvelously.

If you like remixing songs another wonderful one that isn't mentioned here is Ableton Live. Check it out.

Response to: DnB Help! Posted March 2nd, 2008 in Audio

What Nubbin said. As far as your loop goes, the reese you're using is pretty good, the one shots and the rhythm isn't technically drum n bass (as they were saying, a bit more simple... my dnb tracks almost always have snares on 2 and 4, that gives dnb a lot of it's drive.)

And I can vouch for him meeting Benn Jordan, I was there. I introduced him to the guy ;)

Most decent musicians will tell you though, make what you want to hear. Don't try to make a specific genre of music, but if it IS dnb, then go with it!

As far as how DnB is concerned though, usually there's a LOT of technical production, eqing and compressing just about every layer is really important.
The one thing your loop is missing to be a dnb loop is a bass.

Keep it up though :) I liked the loop, had groove.
