Egocentricity as a whole is not about satisfaction but personal gain. What u gained here, is the fact that you were able to tell that story about how you helped someone and didnt gain anything. The fact remains, that on some level you are proud that you were able to help someone and not expect any kind of acknowledgment in return. Selfish. And it's not a bad thing, the problem is there are many definitions for "selfish" but only 1 word for them all. In many parts of the world it is legal. Netherlands has special daytime shops just for that (it is illegal to mix weed with tabaco in public places), Belgium and most of the Europe don't allow to sell, but do allow to carry up to 3 grams.

The reasons why its stamped under heavy drugs in u.s. :

Religious groups still have some power there, and just love to dictate how other people should live their lives.
Prisons are private businesses and it's very profitable to sentence people for possession and distribution.
Private contractors who raid the dispensaries and the corporations that provide weapons, tools, armor, vehicles etc also make a lot of money off that.
Those who make money, donate a small portion to politicians who make sure that it stays that way. It's a self sustaining system.

The truth is, if you know the facts behind marijuana, u cant even call it a drug really. If you do, you might as well call beer a drug. I drink beer = i take drugs. Every informed person would pick weed over alcohol in a second. You do not become dependent like with alcohol or tobacco, it does not cause aggression, it does not harm your health as much as the other two (joint with half weed half tobacco is much healthier than pure tobacco), the "stoned effect" doest last long at all. and so on..

Did you know that by making it legal in netherlands, the 18+ group actually stopped smoking weed!!
When i was going for my snowboarding degree in Austria, i lived with 40 dutch ppl from 18 to 24 yo for 2 weeks. When i asked them about weed, they told me: "When you are under 18, and it's illegal, many consider it 'cool' to smoke weed. But now that you can walk into a store and legally buy anything you want, it's just stupid"

I was wondering how open is the whole madness idea to third party developers?

I am developing a mobile application, based on a 3D engine where the main idea somewhat resembles Madness.
You play as a humanoid robot, with head feat arms and body as deattached floating parts. Shooting bullets, taking cover, using abilities and fighting is the main core of the gameplay. Everything up till now was build as a prototype placeholder, and with a slight redesign of the characters and levels, could actually fit the Madness theme very well, which seems to be a very well established phenomena here on newgrounds.

So i am wondering, am i free to use the idea. If so, are there any basic resources available for the madness universe? Sounds, textures, backgrounds etc

the game a lot of things, buggy as hell, ugly, nowhere near even demo, but boring is not one of them! it could be a killer app on iOS, they love this stuff. That is if u can make variety and keep challenging the player. i would also suggest to use a move counter instead of a timer

I am building an application about an old school dinosaur, who is trying to make it big by busting breakdancing moves. The game is a tap the beat style application and i am having hard time to find decent old school break music and rap. I have 2d/3d art, voice actors, script, concept, but it just doesnt fit without great music.
If anyone could help with anything, would mean a world to me.

As far as i know, html5 only runs at like 5fps on mobile devices. c++ is where u want to be.
I think that ur better of with a payed artist, and when u finish and publish a somewhat successful project, recruit co-developers/artist for future projects, with something to show for.

The thing is, for 50 bucks you can get one very good drawing.
15 sec at 24 fps, thats a looooooooooot of work.
Plus, the concept art that uve posted lacks a bit of creative talent. Bad color choice and a bit basic

When i need any 2d art, i always go to shad from shadbase.com (found him here on newgrounds)

I would say Google Docs is the best solution. It support simultaneous document editing for unlimited users, web publishing, 1gb of free storage per user, tables, etc
In 2010, for a sc2 project, we used to edit one brainstorming document with 5 people at the same time. This was our Log
