Response to: Do you think Hitler was evil? Posted August 25th, 2008 in Politics

hmm...looking at the quality of some of these posts, I think maybe we need a philosophy section..

The concepts of "good" and of "evil" are manmade, and the definitions differ from person to person, and from group to group. As the specifics of the concepts are so dynamic, the classification of actions and people as good or evil depends soley on the perspective of the judge. Today's society believes that Hitler WAS evil, therefore, from the perspective of what i believe is the majority of people today, Hitler was in fact evil. HOWEVER.
if Hitler truly believed that what he was doing would lead to an improvement in the quality of life for the german peoples, or the peoples of the world, then. from his perspective, and from the perspective of his supporters, he was a "good," honest man.

Please note that I personally find what he did appaling. I am simply trying to show those of you that have yet to look beyond the thin veil that is socities' peception of events that there is no specific answer to any question, and the belief that events in this world can be classified under the simple heading of "good" or "bad" is erronius. thank you and good day. :)

I really hope you are not ignorant enough to compare Iraq to any other threat to our country. Just because we made a mistake with Iraq doesn't mean we can take threats any lighter now. The EU has imposed sanctions on Iran and we know they have a Chem/Bio program. Iran has an extremely dedicated military, and has already said they will occupy the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, where 40% of the worlds oil in sent through. And Iran already poses a direct threat to our troops in the middle east. And if we don't take action now, it doesn't have to be military yet, but some kind of action to keep Iran in check, the better off we will be.

Are they a threat to the US soil? No. They can still do a lot of damage to us without ever getting near our borders.

agreed. we need to do something, but we don't wanna do something too big. while Iraq itself isn't a threat, we really don'r wanna piss off any of it's friends; such as north korea, I mean we JUST got them to start disarming their nuclear program. we also don't want to take the chance that treating Iran harshly will add too our problems in the so-called war on terror. I suggest high tax prices on goods coming from and going into Iran, rather than a full-on sanction. it's less public, so it might be a little better

Response to: Drug Prohibition Doesn't Work. Posted July 11th, 2008 in Politics

At 7/11/08 04:47 PM, uhnoesanoob wrote: Hm, well, you don't realize the dangers of making drugs legal. When people buy drugs, they usual don't use it in public, and thus the danger is usually contained in their homes or other small places. If drugs were made legal, you'd see a lot more public use, which means that the asshole on meth might run up to a little girl and strangle her. Drugs should be made illegal simply to protect the public.

unfortunaltly for your argument, this obviously isn't the case. just walk down the street of any major city-especially around schools. you will undoubtedly see many people smoking pot or cigs(underage) or sometimes even shit like meth. the fact is that one of the major reasons prohibition doesn't work is that enforcement doesn't give a damn. if the kids are off school property, they arn't in the school's control, and so the teachers have no motive to enforce the law. police often simply brive past these people. because they don't want to take the time to stop and at the very leaast check ID's. people talk about using drugs in public, use them in was that are harmful to bystanders, and will continue to do so with or without prohibition.

right now, prohibition is just showing kids how easy it is to break the law and get away with it. prohibition needs to be removed, at the very least on "soft" drugs such as cannabis, but then restictions need too be placed on them just as they are placed on cigs and alcohol, and whats more, they need to be upheld. someone needs to find a way to convince the authorities that if a person is doing somethign they look too young to do, they should walk up and ask to see id, and take action if the person is too young/no id/whatever. Prohibition is an unenforceable law, but replacing it with more unenforceble laws is not the answer

Response to: Dnd, Is It Demonic? Posted April 5th, 2007 in Politics

1st of all, dnd is NOT demonic, that was just a smear campaign used by the cristian church in fear that playing it would result in a population smart enough to realize that they(the church) don't tell us the whole truth, and manipulate the "info" to assert control over the populace.

2nd, troubles1, sorry, but you just showed that you're still as stupid as you were when u made fun of ppl that played dnd. you see, if you children are not labled "wierd" by the "popular" kids, they will end up "popular", or going along with what another person says because they are "cool" or a different, but equily bad reason to select a leader. the popular people are the people who bully other kids and cause them to commit suicide, they do drugs, they drink and drive, they steal, and they will never reach their full potential as human beings, because they will not learn to deal with trouble in thier life early on, and be totally helpless when they are thrust into the real world.

Response to: Communism- is it really so bad? Posted April 5th, 2007 in Politics

no, the idea of communism isn't bad. unfortunatly, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutly. in other words, human beings are incapible of making communism work for an extended period of time. that is the final word!

Response to: drunk driving Posted April 5th, 2007 in Politics

1st time-suspend licesns 1 yr, 2nd time-death/life in prison
a) drunk driving drives up my insurance rates

b) drunk driving IS premeditated-in most cases- and tho the people usually don't imagin hitting someone, a sane person will realize that that is a possibility, and I personally think that knowing that your actions could result in the death of an Innocent individual, but still doing them, constitutes a premeditated murder charge, and is the sign of a degenerate being incapible of living life among the people without eventually causing them harm.
