Hey,
Though this game is rather a simple zombie shoot at present, I think I like your passion to complete this game and evolve it into an entirely awesome zombie shooter.
Thus I would like to pitch in some art for 30 days. Here's a sample splash screen for the game

Papa Bear: "I'm sorry Baby Bear, but there cannot be any witnesses"

Unaware of what Papa Bear was saying Baby Bear pointed at the woods and shouted

"look!" <///Slash///> Baby Bears' head rolled to a gentle stop.

He picked his tiny lifeless body and placed it in the freshly dug grave.
The camera pans upwards to reveal the woods ..burnt.

But Papa bear felt someone was still watching him.

Response to: Convert Gif To Png-24? Posted October 21st, 2010 in Animation

I hope this answers your question.
my knowledge on 'Animated PNG's is limited' so here is a link that tells you more about that extension called APNG

The way to convert and animated GIF to a PNG sequence is quiet easy.
1. Open a mew movie file in Flash
2. File/import and import the animated *.gif file. (Flash may prompt you to import all the images in that sequence. Select 'yes')
3. Resize your move to fit those sequential gif frames, but going to Modify/Document and in the 'Document Properties' 'Match .. Choose 'Content'. This resizes the movie to the size of the gif image imported.
4. Time to export as PNG sequence. Go to File/Export/Export Movie, select which directory you want to save and a file name. Under 'Save as type' choose 'PNG Sequence' and this would create the PNG sequence images.

After this step, refer that APNG probably to get the desired file.

Response to: what do you recommend i use? Posted October 21st, 2010 in Animation

If you are not thinking of coding in Action Script to make your project interactive. I would highly recommend any of the earlier versions of Flash (i.e Flash MX, or Flash 8) They are a lot less of a memory hog. Its a stripped down version of what Flash is right now and a ton less buggy and runs smooth. (the art/animation have not evolved for any version after Flash 8)

Once you are super familiar with the software, I would recommend upgrading to a later version to play around with plugins made specifically for animators to tackle mundane tasks (like batch renaming symbols in the library, batch guiding layers, converting tweens to keyframes etc). I could stand corrected, but Flash 8 does have an 'Extension Manager' that could install earlier versions of these plugins. Plugins are all just secondary.

Flash MX and Flash 8 pop up quiet often on Ebay for 15-80 bucks
Plugins for animators can be found here: ColdHardFlash Forums and here

If you really want to test your skills, try animating a dance sequence or moves.

I had animated the red knight from castle crashers as an exercise.

Pixel tool works prett well with flash, but the erase tool sometimes acts up. Causes Flash to crash. But hey, what the heck.. the guy who programmed it gave it up for free!

go here to download the tool http://www.5etdemi.com/blog/archives/200 5/03/pixel-tools-v2-available/

I used that to make this game.

Response to: Let's Design A Game: Fallout Nv Posted May 24th, 2010 in Video Games

If anyone here is interested in a Fallout _ Pacman clone ... here is something I had made.. http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/27f5 3cd8ff6169954b79f576558f527c if someone's interested in prorgamming it

Hey ya' folks
I know there are a ton of Fallout Fans here @Newgrounds. I myself love the game and played it twice and waiting for the Fallout New Vegas. With the on set of the 30th anniversary of Pacman, I decided to crank out a quick game and am currently scouting for a talented AS2/AS3 Programmer and musician.

The game mechanics kinda plays like Pacman, but the story is based off the kid from vault 101 scavenging for caps and shit. Turn arounds and Run Cycles are complete. The art direction is set, sound effects are ready. props and BG art is done, and one enemy is complete. I have completed one level design and have reached a stage in development where I think it would be the right time to have a prototype. This request posted today is only to create the prototype. If the game sucks, we tank it. If it rocks, 4 more new levels/badguys will be handcrafted.

Programmers: The game has been written to be a lot more humorous as compared to the RPG and at the moment this prototype will grown to a multi level, continuous play till one reaches a high score or dies. Familiarity with Medal implementation is definitely a plus. Knowledge of flixel would be a plus point too.

Musicians: I had been though a large list of songs in the audio portal with the keywords "Fallout" I loved a bunch of them, but they didn't fit this specific game. I'm more inclined using an 8bit version of any of the fallout sound track.

Collaboration Specifications:

* The start and end date : On selecting a competent programmer, Approximately 5 working days for the development of the prototype. Weekends is for drinking not working.
Who can join: Anyone competent with AS2/3 and a musician who can make 8 bit music.
The version of Flash and Actionscript (if necessary) that you are working in.: Cs3, AS2/3
The FPS, Stage size, and other crucial details.: 24fps. 750x600.
All collaborators get equal share. This is just fundamental... other than a situation where one quits during development, wont really make sense then.

Readers: If you know some one who really wants to work on this project, send them a link or PM me with their ID so I can get back to them

I have included an image of what the game play could look like.

You should also go though Chris Georgenes 2.5d Flash tutorials that would make things a lot easier if you were animating using Flash instead of a 3d Tool

I just watched a part of the Gorillaz Documentary and it looks like all the character animation is done traditionally with paper and pencils. Some of the BG footage is composed of 3D and Live footage. THus a good combination of mixed media..

At 5/2/10 02:59 AM, Jereminion wrote: hello i was looking at the adobe website at the flash cs5 new features and it doesnt seem worth buying or upgrading from cs4 do you have anything to convince someone to buy it?

It's quiet surprising to read some of the comments here.

I belive Flash Cs5 's trial version will be available sometime after the 19th of this month. I would suggest trying out the software even before thinking of buying it. If you already have any of the previous versions, id say stick to that and see what the review's from professionals within your desired industry has to say about it (i.e web developers and AIR app developers will more likely have a different use of Flash as compared to a Game scripter or an Animator). This could probably say the way this reviews of this new release.

As for Adobe blocking the use of third-party software, including Flash, currently there is brewing news that Apple might be taken to court for anti-trust laws and the methodology employed to select applications into the app store. So with all that in mind, I would highly suggest waiting, palying around with the 30 day trial and seeing if it really fits our needs or going to ebay and buying a lower version for a much discounted price.

Exporting as a .mov DOES preserve movieclip animation.

To be more precise, exporting to a movie such as an .AVI or a .MOV from a scene containing MC with animations within the MC's wont work for any version of Flash before cs4 (I have not tired the same with CS4).

Other options are
1. Try with CS4
2. Convert all the MC to Graphic Symbols and in the property menu, change from 'loop' to 'play once" from frame "x" (where x stands for what ever frame you choose) and export this as an .AVI
3. If you dont have any animation within your MC's then a third 'not so terrible' method is to go to the publishing settings and drop the flash player from whatever version that's currently there to Flash 5 and lesser, then Flash allows you to export a Quicktime .Mov file .. though this does not provide a guarantee of a un-corrupt mov file.

My best bet and probably the safest and longest method would be #2.
All the best
