Response to: what to get for starters Posted July 4th, 2013 in Animation

Humm... Im gonna try and summerize this

There are two aspects to learning animation - technical and skillbased. Technically - you have a lot of choices like Flash, Toonboom, Adobe Photoshop's GIF animation, or open source alternatives like Ajax Animator (list here)
The skillbased aspect of animation is key, since this skill is independant off what software/medium you are planning on using to create animation. Skills involve a basic art course, animation principles, timing and film theory.

If your motivation is to convert your ideas/stories that you have written into published content, there are a couple of ways of doing this

Most skilled approach- Learn any 2d software - Flash ($50 per month -subscription based), toonboom animate ($600), or the more basic Toonboom 'Animanish' ($60), etc. This method requires time and technical know-how like how to use the software and some art skills to pull this off. If you are getting a pretty decent hang of the software and want to take your works up by a notch, apply principles of animation, animation timing and film language.

noob skilled approach - Or you could get a a free account at goanimate (or whatever alternative) which has a bunch of predefined characters and animated poses. This help you make a movie quick enough to see if your dialogues are good and the story is tight. If you see what you like with the end product, try working with someone over at the collab forum and team up with animators now that you have a decent idea how good you story is

Hope this helped

There are a ton of tutorials on the interbutt to create 16/8 bit art
Here's one of the many that may give you some insight on how to creat that style of art

DeathRiseRobo does make sense. It's only fair that PKmn2 nominated Collab Organizer.

@DeathRiseRobo, you're a bigger man than me, master chief. I'd definitely keep an eye on your future collabs since you have a knack of kickstarting successful collabs

Another user had a similar problem. Read about it here

Response to: 24 Frame Collab Posted March 29th, 2013 in Collaboration

@VaguelyWonderful:
I totaly agree with #Cyberdevil. It's really not necessary to throw one's email out there.
Newgrounds already has a well built PM system that we should take advantage. I would absolutely use that linking system to mail an artist on this collab. (ie: http://www.newgrounds.com/pm/send/NEWGROUNDS-CONTRIBUTORSNAM E)
Hey on that note, add the "Fav" button too. This just makes so much sense. I cant figure out the html code to "add to fav"

If we use newgrounds profile images over profile icons, at least we will have higher resolution images to work with.

@DeathRiseRobo: Dude, for contributors who have not commented. I think it's only fair to at least add their profile link and profile image there. Everyone invested some time on this. Heck, without their contribution we would have not come this far.

@Pkmn2 since you have done most of the organizing, I could help you shoot out PM's to everyone who had contributed and find out if they would like to add a line or two to their profile.

Hmm, not that I'm complaining, but doesn't that seem like a rather degrading comment? :P How about something neutral like "Unknown" or "No comment"?

I'd also rather not have my email publicly viewable. Would be nice with a link to the PM system as an option, if that's possible, like so: http://www.newgrounds.com/pm/send/cyberdevil (maybe just as a button?)
