Experiences > Material stuff Posted November 24th, 2013 in General

I just saw this video of a Mexican (I guess) guy who makes videos of him traveling, showing what he sees. He's been in England, Seoul, Africa, and many more places, but something I actually have to admire is that he lives based on traveling. He always says: "Material belongings are things that you won't carry until you die. Instead, it's better to pay for experiences rather than material things, because they're something wonderful, that you can share without losing it, and you can carry it to your tomb".

What do you think? Should we pay for experiences rather than material things?

Its simple, dont answer the door next time lol,

You invited them when you did that

I said I thought it was my father...

Response to: Jehovah Witnesses = Necromancers Posted November 16th, 2013 in General

Like a week ago I accidentally opened the door to a Jehovah witness (thought it was my father waiting at the door) and handed me a pamphlet which basically said "God is great". I mean, the headline was "God's word is the truth" (very straight forward, if you ask me), but in general it meant "God is the shit, come and join us admire him".

I don't really think they should be like that. I mean, I don't care about listening other theological ideas, but I don't really like being bothered in my own house to hear them, when no one has been invited.

Respect for dead people Posted November 11th, 2013 in General

So I saw this thread and thought of something: Why should we respect people just for being dead? I mean, If you are an asshole in life, when you die you are just a dead asshole.

Let's say a firefighter dies in a fire while trying to put it out. He will have my respect, but not for dying, but because of doing something heroic (I consider that trying to put out a fire to save people's lives is more respectable than, for example, fighting a war).

Just wanted to know what the NG community thinks of respecting dead people just for being dead.

You were pretty vague in your description then. What qualifies someone as being stupid then. I am a shitty student I think that makes me pretty stupid.

As someone else said before (don't remember who): Being stupid is lacking intelligence, common sense. I can't tell if you're stupid or not because I don't know you, but you should see yourself as a thinking person, not as a student. You may be the shittiest student ever, but you can also, at the same time, be the next Einstein.

You state your opinion as fact, people who have a certain like of an artist that you don't like are not stupid people.

You misunderstood me. I said what I said to avoid people commenting shit like "yeah, people who listen to ______ are sure stupid". I support what you say, and I know that people who have a certain like of an artist that I don't like are not stupid people.

Contrast relations and nuances between them make up the world, buddy. (Haven't I already said this? Grrr!)

Actually, if stupid people didn't exist, the dumbest person on Earth would be someone who, now, would be considered intelligent. That way, we would all continue being geniuses progressively until finding the ultimate truth of the universe and die.

Don't you just hate... Posted October 31st, 2013 in General

...stupid people? Well, I do. They're a waste of everything; space, food, fresh water, and the list goes on. I'm not calling myself a genius (like some NG user I know...) but I'm smart. That's it. I'm just not stupid.

I think that all these should just die and be buried directly in the land (no coffin), so that way they don't use extra space in the earth that humanity may need in the future. Also, when they discompose they'll be the land where other people/animals may live in. I don't know, just get a big-ass terrain in the countryside and bury them there.

What do you think? Do you agree o disagree?

P.S. I'm not just talking about "stupid people" referring to the ones who listen to Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj and shit... Those are stereotypes, and stereotypes are bad. What I'm talking about is legitimately stupid people, guys/girls who are just jerks and refuse to accept common sense in their brains.

Here in Chile it's 14 I guess, and as we are pretty well educated in the subject (I'm just a freshman) we can avoid things like STD's or teen pregnancy. All it's needed is good education and available preventive systems.
Also, this:
