Now I can relate to the concept of termination of free speech.. and why not thought too? It would definitely silence those who's opinions are utterly deficient, those who are sadly born with mentally devastating conditions (like the one who started this thread). White males have had it great for all of their existence.. I don't see why we have reason to complain.

Response to: I don't like some of America Posted October 4th, 2001 in Politics

(Message I first intended to post)

A simple analogy for those who can't fathom the possibility, and reason of america's subjection to hatred.

Think of the US as a senior high student in a school yard filled with grade schoolers. (Yeah, the balance of power is that disproportionate.) The elder is obviously capable of making any one, or few individuals dance as a puppet would. And sadly, on some occasions, he abuses his power. He puts on a front of compassion.. the big brother facade.. though in many cases, this is just guise to carry out his hidden agenda. He goes about, strutting.. oh so high and mighty is he, without fault. He preaches and imposes his morals, will break up a squabble or two in the name of peace.. (Israel, Palestine) But all the kids are talking behind the big guy's back, knowing that all he does is carried out to protect his own interests. He'll carry out justice, send a few kids to their respective corners for a time out, because of misdeeds commited against others, and himself.( Irak, Cuba). The punished kids are left to seethe in rage, to plot for revenge.. while all alone, isolated.

Now, is it just me who thinks that the big kid is bound to get the beating of his life, at the hand of a gathering of pissed off kids? I think I may have overly simplified the global situation.. but I covered all the bases. Come on, reply. Tell me if and why I'm wrong.

A> Well Kristen there is proof he did things in the past but non for the WTC. USA is still tryin to fin out who did it but "It is not Iraq" saddam for the first time said he'd help us out for economic reasons.
The reason were going after Bin Laden is because we shoulda captured him a long time ago but we never did that. It is also known he has terrorist organizations all over the world.

Osama made it clear in his interview with Frontline that all he wishes to do is get American forces to leave the Middle East (this also means that the US would have to stop supporting Israel), and for the embargos on Iraq to be removed. Between 100,000 and 500,000 Iraqi children (under 5 years of age) have died of starvation or disease because of the UN embargos. About 500,000 civilians over 5 years of age have died as well. (source: Unicef)
A> 1. USA is not the UN its a council of isreal etc.
2. The reason we support isreal is becasue they're so small. They'd get there ass whooped in a second.
Look at the gulf war if it wasn't for us they'd be part of Iraq "Iraq was saying that that part of Isreal they took was part of Iraq South Iraq.

So basically, leave the Middle East alone, and terrorism will decline dramatically.
no it will not decline dramaticly we still got Saddam... he hates us. And then there is other countries that will attack if they catch us off gaurd and then it'll casue even more problems.
2. Racism in the US against Muslims has skyrocketed. The day of and the day after the attacks, 4 Muslim community centers in my area alone were shot at or burned down. These people are not only NOT involved in any way with terrorism, but they are American citizens.
Well yea it is sad but When someone see's a really bad accident it is natural to blame it on someeone in this case the muslims.I am not saying it alright to be racist im saying that because of natural fear that fear causes all humans to do crazy stuff. The ppl that shoot or are racist are what they are to because they think that they are glad that accident happened. But they dont know that. That's racism basicly
Killing is against the edicts of the Islam faith. Don't let Osama confuse the issue. He is warping what true Islam is.
I can agree to that because they are sposed to be religous. Why they hate us I dont' know but I do know that they were going to let us capture bin laden until this guy signed a peace treaty and said if they fought with us they'd be traitors so it shows you that USA is damn lucky to be a Democracy. It also shows ppl like us and fear us because we have power thats why bin laden or whoever did this hates us
3. People want to invade Afghanistan or get some sort of revenge. How will this help? If anything, putting more US troops will make terrorists even angrier. Look at this picture, taken in Pakistan (our ally):

http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/p/nm/20010918/wl/mdf54552.html

Invading a Muslim country will drive more young Muslims to terrorism. If the goal of invading any Middle Eastern country is to end terrorism, it will fail miserably.
Well my opinion is that since pakistan or afghanistan won't let us take him we gotta get him ourselves,Green Berets are elite forces that are good in raids under water demos andstraight out stealth tactics. That's part of Americas power thats why it is so top secret. I don't want any lives lost but If USA can get Laden quietly then hurray I think no lives lost and it'll only make em angrier because all the countries get more jealous that were so powerful If we do get Laden it'll make us even more powerful and it'll tell countries AMERICA DOESN'T TAKE SHIT FROM NO ONE.

4. Some Americans don't care when innocent people in Muslim countries die *cough* Afghanistan *cough*. If you want them to respect your right to live, you have to respect theirs.
What we do to Afghanistan? This Terrorist group hates us because we have alot of power and that can lead to making ppl think that were arrogant. They are also jealous that we have a system that allows the ppl to have the power and have the government balanced
---------

Now, the other side. What the terrorists did was horrible. I cannot even imagine the grief that must be going through the family and friends of the victims. But the cycle of violence needs to end. Shedding more innocent blood is not the way to honor the lives of those lost (and it will be shed should the US send troops to another country).

In conclusion, pulling out of the Middle East will allow us all to live long, happy lives. Do those guilty need to be brought to justice? Yes, of course. But invading a country won't stop terrorism in any way.
Let the CIA do its job, and don't increase the fodder for terrorists to use in gaining new recruits.

Donate blood. Donate money. Be the bigger person. Don't stoop to their level.

The loss of any human life is tragic. It wasn't until the 11th that I understood why that Buddhist monk set himself on fire during the Vietnam War.
Well yea but honoring the lot 1 makes ppl feel better and it Unites everyone in this case UNITES STATES OF AMERICA. Here is some USEFUL INFO
The date of the attack: 9/11 - 9 + 1 + 1 = 11
September 11th is the 254th day of the year: 2 + 5 + 4 = 11
After September 11th there are 111 days left to the end of the year.
119 is the area code to Iraq/Iran: 1 + 1 + 9 = 11
Twin Towers - standing side by side, looks like the number 11
The first plane to hit the towers was Flight 11
State of New York - The 11 State added to the Union
New York City - 11 Letters
Afghanistan - 11 Letters
The Pentagon - 11 Letters
Ramzi Yousef - 11 Letters (convicted or orchestrating the attack on
the WTC in 1993)
Flight 11 - 92 on board - 9 + 2 = 11
Flight 77 - 65 on board - 6 + 5 = 11

We have an incredibly stupid system of immigration in Canada which seems to to allow these terrorists (as well as criminals) to come in and set up shop, while honest immigrants seem to be the ones getting fucked around.

While that is true, it would be hypocritical of anyone to point a finger at Canada, or its policies. Many of those terrorists got through US immigration, such was a breeze for them. Some even went ahead and established themselves, bought houses.. got lines of credit. They falsified documents without fault, went through all security checks, and came out clean. It honestly disgusts me when people say that Canada is a haven for terrorists, for my country is no worse than any other.

And to the one who made that wise crack about Canada, you're the cause of anti-americanism. Redneck, yokel, hillbilly, star spangled sissy.. shall I go on?

Ahh... hydroelectric power.. My province may have flooded the land of native american tribes.. contaminated them with mercury.. But who cares really? We're selling electricity to the US at 10 times the cost, and producing not a single ounce of greenhouse gas. Short of hydrogen's potential.. and nuclear fission (yeah, like that'll ever see the light of day..) hydro power has the best cost efficiency/environmentally friendly ratio out there.

Most of you make valid points, express opinions that I myself share. Then again, some of you are flaming imbecils.

Many have given their lives in the pursuit of a right we now take for granted, the freedom to express our views, so long as they are non-derogatory towards any visible group (i.e: religious, racial..).

In acknowledging this right, you should also expect to be confronted with opinions and beliefs that may indeed contradict, or diverge from your own. Such is called tolerance, even towards those who may seem less than aware of the harm they may be causing in exercising said right.

Bill Maher may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he's no Bin Laden. Keep your frustrations in check.

If I were president.. (You should thank the Lord I'm not..) I would simply finance the anti-Taliban factions, that is, refrain from direct involvement. Assure the defeat of that extremist party, pour funds into rebuilding.. could work, no? Bread, wine and games... the prefect formula to subdue a nation. It worked for the romans, and believe me, is still in effect, to this day.

Yeah and for all those people who are saying thtist all bin ladens fault, well it probably aint. Oklahoma bombing was an american. And think about this, you go puting your noses in all their wars, well maybe they dont like that and maybe thats why they hate you guys. But then again.... who dosent?"

The author makes a single good point. We've practically ignored every single attrocity commited around the world. We were most definitely jaded, that is, until acts such as these were commited in our midst. My biggest worry 4 days ago was choosing what clothes to buy for a party this coming weekend... We lived a blissful and dreamy existence, it has vanished now. These dreaded events were a wake-up call for us, nothing less than a slap in the face.
