Yeah... this is just one of those scenarios where you have good people dwelling in taboo. Some might say, "Oh hell, who cares what people think?", but deep down, we all want to be accepted, at least somewhat. Come to think of it, it must be awfully hard.

Response to: I am having a baby. Posted May 27th, 2004 in Politics

lol... Do you sincerely expect everyone to be completely at ease with that concept? Downright opposing it is another thing. People need time to adjust to change, its only normal.

As time passes by, I find myself living moreso by the code: "live and let live". To each his own values and mores, so long as they do harm to no one. It seems pointless to oppose these new trends... its very tiring too.

For those of you who have no clue what I'm ranting about.

Notice how there are no specifics, but plenty of speculation. All they have to present are about a half dozen shady pictures of supposed terrorist collaborators.

Lol... I get the french and english spellings mixed up all the time, forgive me, oh lord of the english language.

Its strange that not many people are willing to accept the fact that this war is bullshit, and that those responsible should be the only ones to pay the price.

Attorney general's BOLOs Posted May 26th, 2004 in Politics

A smokescreen for an administration who has abslutely no clue where terrorists will strike next? A little show put on as to have people believe the Bush Administration doesn't have its thumb up its ass?

You tell me.

Because we can't.
Add to that growing dissatisfaction domestically, a still weak economy, the upcoming election, the continuous threat of terrorism, yadda yadda yadda.

The Iraqi people deserve security, period. I wasn't putting that fact in question whatsoever. If I were Anan, I'd make Bush and Blair get on their knees and admit to fucking up... that would make it go down much easier.

Because you[r country] has a responsibility to care for [as it were] all the other countries in the world, and Iraq is not an exception.

I know that. You can't scold a dog after its shit all over the place.. you just clean it up, right? Why doesn't America do it along with England then? Response to: Can I smoke legally? Posted May 25th, 2004 in Politics

To properly control marijuana use, the government would have to eliminate all contraband sources, which can't be an easy task.

The dope that gets you high as a kite is most likely not pure pot. I can't picture the government legalizing all the added toxins present in street pot as well.

The Canadian government is experimenting with medicinal marijuana... and it seems to be a total failure. THC content is far too low and patients deem themselves better served by illegal producers.

I think you're painting a pretty grim picture of America... not at all deserved. I've lived in Baton Rouge for a year and studied at LSU (go tigers!). That experience broadened my perspective of the United States, opening my mind to a world that is somewhat different.

I agree that from the outside, America may seem like a cruel and unforgiving country. It is not the case, I assure you. You strike some truth with your arguments, but are going into extremes.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/05/24/iraq.main/index.html

99% of the world disagreed with going into Irak in the first place. Some argue that a dangerous dictator has been removed, one who tortured and killed countless Iraki citizens. What did the coalition put in this regime's place? Unyeilding military strength and a force which tortures and kills Irakis, illegitimately.

Now as a citizen of a UN member country, why should I agree to have a part of my tax dollars go into this useless endevour?

I am not against sending humanitarian aid, but to go so far as to risk the lives of our soldiers in order to appease Bush's vendetta... its ludicrous.

The best thing for you to do is to marry this girl, and wait through the bureaucratic delay. Her father wanting to hire you is great, but immigration does not consider that, seeing as you're not irreplacable (I assume).

If you have higher education or mucho dinero, you'll get in quickly, no sweat. Otherwise, be prepared to wait... If you really love eachother, it'll be worth it.

"To repay artists and record labels for revenue lost by this activity, the government imposes a fee on blank tapes, CDs and even hard disk-based MP3 players such as Apple Computer's iPod, and distributes that revenue to copyright holders. "

This from the above link.

Is this done down in the States? I believe that its fair enough. For chissakes Sony is a holder of many music and movie copyrights, as well as a mass producer of blank Cd roms, burners and mp3 players. Hypocracy anyone?

Canadian Government is plagued with a flagrant lack of strong leadership. Paul Martin is just some crook who possessed enough charisma to be assigned the temporary position of Prime-Minister.

Now, so far as price hikes are concerned, I wouldn't get too alarmed about it yet. Hydro rates in Quebec have risen about 3% this year, dumbfounded am I as to why though... I'm sure there is some explanation floating around out there, probably more political bullshit jargon. Funny how you can never get a straight answer from a politician, eh?
