I think everyone should take 5mins out of their day and listen to this. People who are insanely racist piss me off... people who claim to not be racist at all piss me off. I think we should just pull our heads out of our arses and actually start thinking a bit.

For as much as it pains me to hear Mr. Lettuce's views, I am very pleased that this thread has not devolved into a flame war. It is so nice when people can discuss things civilly.

But that would be easy to exploit. The ruling party would pass legilsation that makes some of the questions on the test make sure that disagreeing with them makes you uneligable to vote.

No no no, you misunderstand. The tests would not be based on political ideology. It would be more on basic intelligence. Ensuring people are smart enough to think for themselves will have the added benefit of making them think for themselves rather than be swayed by bigots behind pulpits. Also, making it so that people actually have to aquire a license to vote ensures that the people who do really care about the issue. Now this "voting license" wouldnt apply to presidential elections, this would only apply if laws are offered up to a popluation vote rather than a congressional one.

If somone is smart enough to think for themselves, and still votes against civil rights. Then as much as that pains me im ok with that.

Let´s say you own a coin of this energy currency. The value of this coin would be in direct relation to its mass, since this mass could in theory be converted into energy. The currency would then be based on a fixed amount of energy, since all mass in theory converts to energy equally.

Unless you are talking about coins made of fissionable material, I dont see how the energy stored in said coins could be liberated. Could you care to elaborate on your idea a tad more? Im having trouble following you.

Response to: Democracy. Whats the point? Posted February 24th, 2009 in Politics

The only problem I have with a democracy is that it enables whats called, "Oppression by the majority." Prop 8 in California is a prime example of why democracy is so dangerous. It allows a large uneducated population to be swayed by a few charismatic leaders. I think in order to be allowed to vote you must earn the right through tests. You need a license to drive a car, you should need one to vote.

Any form of theocracy, be it Christian or Sharia, scares the hell out of me. Hopefully the world will one day have a separation of church and state.

Racist white person-"Black people get whatever they want while still causing crime. All black people are stupid and live off of welfare while I have to work."
Where is this victim complex coming from? Im white and I don't know what the OP is talking about. Being white is not that bad.

He is like that because he blames the failures of his life on black people. He probably didnt score high enough to get into college, thus blames black people. He probably got turned down for a job he wanted, so he blames affirmative action. Its very common for someone of low intelligence to place the blame for their own failures on others, rather than looking in a mirror.

every black perons i know follows the perfect black stero-type of being stupid, ignorant, arrogant, thinking they are entitled to something just because they are black, and calling every white person that critizes them is racist
this has led me to hate the black race and black cultural for that matter
yes black people account for like 30% of the population and account for like 50% of the crimes
it drives me nuts when black people call another black person white because he can talk proper english, does decent in school, doesnt think obama is the second coming of christ, doesnt listen to rap, ect

Either that is a hilarious mockery of the OP's mentality, or you are the most doltish person I have ever heard. But im pretty sure its the former, so thanks for the chuckle! ^_^

but anyways, while I do hate political correctness to its very core, I think you still have to judge people on a individual level.
It's a lot easier for me to forgive Latino's large crime rates when they at least have the decency to get fucking jobs. But no, I don't like illegals; the fact that they can get jobs, however, is RATHER telling.

How about this, Mr. Lettuce, why don't you start backing up claims with proof? I can say anything I want... the earth is flat... or the moon is actually made of cheese. Do those statements have any credence? Not without proof, and I can show no proof to either of them. If you want people to take your hatful claims seriously, why not put up some links non-biased reports that prove your claims?

But seriously, stop blaming others for your own failures. Get some help.

Well, you and I disagree on your statistics. I think the main culprit of why blacks have lower test scores or higher crime rates is due to culture, not skin colors. Besides a disposition/resistance to certain desises, the color of ones skin has no bearing on their tendencies, personality, or intelligence.

Its culture that causes these negative statistics you state. Black culture is largley homophobic, discorages intelligent thinking, objectivfies women, and glorfies violence. Anyone raised in such an enviroment has to strive to break free from it.

I live in Atlanta, and if I see somone wearing low riding shorts and a do-rag walking by my car... I will lock the doors. I dont care if their skin color is black, white, red, pink... etc. If I see a person wearing kahkis and a sweater... I dont bat a second glance. Skin color has no bearing on a persons character, its the culture one embraces and displays.

So I guess when it comes down to it, im a "culturist", not a rasist.

I agree with you that the socioty at large is overley politically correct, and free speech is often curtailied. But I stick to my origional claim that you are blaming others for your own problems, and you should rethink such hateful views.

Response to: Energy backed currency? Posted February 23rd, 2009 in Politics

I find the idea of an energy backed currency exciting! When you think about it, money IS energy. Lets say you have $100. You could convert that "energy" aka money into food, which provides you with chemecal energy. You can buy gas, energy for your car. A TV, the energy to mine the raw materials and assemble them. Hire a maid, the energy to organize and remove dirt particles from the home. You get the idea. I think that our currency should be based on credits, and one credit is worth 1 minute of the most basic work. It would be the minimum wage and everything would be based on such.

Response to: Malaysia's Muslims ban lesbian sex Posted February 23rd, 2009 in Politics

It is very easy to place the blame for bigotry and injustice on religion. However, religion is not to blame for all the woes in the world. It is charismatic people who USE religion to manipulate the weak minded. If it was not religion, it would be something else that could bind people together under a common banner. So the fact that it happens to be a Muslim country doesn't mean much, it is the political leaders who are using the peoples fears about a group of people who are different to drum up support.

Response to: it happens but no one cares Posted February 23rd, 2009 in Politics

The news organizations, like any business, are meant for one thing: making money. While I think they have a moral obligation to deliver balanced news, the truth of the matter is that there are no laws requiring them to do so. And to be honest I don't think such laws should be passed. What we must do is take all our news with a grain of salt.

Response to: If you oppose gay marriage, why? Posted February 23rd, 2009 in Politics

What most fail to realize is that is impossible to understand being gay unless you were born that way, as I was. So of course it seems "unnatural", because your brain doesn't work the way a gay person does. Here is a simply analogy. If you are right handed try writing with your left, you will be hesitant to do so and it will feel "unnatural". Yet you often see people who are left handed, were they born that way? Did they choose at childhood to use their left? The fact is that it DOESNT MATTER! It is what is right for them, and is what THEY feel is natural.

It would be a dream come true to marry my boyfriend and raise a family. And I know that it wont be long until that happens.
