Response to: Atkins Dieter Sues Posted May 28th, 2004 in Politics

I really have two problems with people looking at the Atkins diet. IF and I mean IF people followed it correctly I think they would be able to be healthy. The "Real" Atkins diet consists of only 2 weeks without high carbohydrate foods. Then gradually you can start eating more and more "carbs/starches" yet not in an excessive amount.

I used the Atkins diet for about a month and lost about 20 lbs. It was great and I didn't feel sick....and my mouth did not smell like dead assholes. If you really want to learn about the diet I suggest reading the book Atkins wrote. The media and the industries have really brought shame upon the diet...espically all the so called "Low-Carb" food products.

I do agree that eating less and working out more will help lose weight, but in some cases that just won't work for some people.

BTW will somebody explain to me what the South Beach Diet is?

You see how many people are in their cars smoking cigarettes? Well replace those with joints, and you have a bunch of people with slowed reflexes and bad judgement behind the wheel of 2,000 pound machines. Maybe if you made it illegal to smoke and drive, like alcohol, then it would be an OK idea.

An excellent point IMO.^^

I myself don't have an opinion on this topic. Why, because I don't care what people want to do with their lives. If they wanna smoke marajuana go ahead and smoke marajuana. The only thing I see in the future if it is legalized is the coming of newer laws. It will become much like alcohol in the way that you can only smoke so much before being legally under the influence and other consequences.

Response to: - The Regulars Lounge Thread - Posted September 2nd, 2003 in Politics

Sry I'm not a regular, but I live in Indy too... School=Cancelled! The amount of rain we got yesterday was crazy. My neighborhood started flooding when the drains in my court started overflowing. Knee high water in my neighbors backyard, and it was funny to see one of their lawn gnome/duck/dealy float away.

Response to: Depressing News and Stuff Posted April 16th, 2003 in Politics

Yeah, you see alot of depressing stuff on TV. About the boy with no arms, I think I heard him say something about getting treatment in any country, but America. Makes you think about how much the people over there really like us. Another thing I saw today was a gruesome picture of early stages of the war in Newsweek or something and these two Iraqis were dead in this trench with their heads that looked like a powerful shell took off a good 1/4 of their face. A horrible sight it was... shows us what we really don't get to see during a war.

Response to: Students shot in New Orleans Posted April 16th, 2003 in Politics

Well if you look at todays school and compare it with older schools you can see the safety factors. Back in the 50's and 60's I bet that you would scared of a Gang beating the living daylights out of you...today, being a teenager and all have to look around my school with a careful eye and say to myself "Is my school really ready if someone pulls a gun...?" A few months ago we had a "Bomb Threat" made to our school and the cops were called in. That next day I counted 15 different police officers in our school...that says something to anyone. No person in the right mind would not take a threat seriously. These threats remind us that we should never underestimate the power of a few kids and guns... and no matter where these guys got the sub-machine guns and rifles, the same thing always happens...the chance of survivng is not what you would expect.

Patriotism Posted April 10th, 2003 in Politics

During times of national crisis we look upon the American Flag we hang outside our doors. It sits there for a few months and then after the crisis or whatever is finished we seem to forget about that flag or that ribbon we had tied to some of our trees...(if you don't know what the yellow ribbon means). It seems to me that Patriotism only skyrockets during times of national emergency, but why isn't it like that all the time?

Yeah sure, we have Memorial Day and we have Veterans day, but I think everyday people should at least think about or do something patriotic. Even if it is suddle or not very big you could hang a flag outside.

Another thing I really hate to see is people abusing flags and other stuff. It really gets to me when you see a ripped flag or a flag that has fallen to the ground and no one has even thought about picking it up. That is just sad that sometimes we forget our country with out something like a war happening.

Response to: Think about Iraq like this... Posted February 22nd, 2003 in Politics

Dictators...They all act the same. A trend every time one comes to power. Much like Pyongyang from N Korea, Saddam basically doesn't want to have anything to do with the rest of the world. Once that happens the surrounding countries want to know what is going on b/c we have absolutly no IDEA what they are doing. That creates mass chaos and freaks out the entire world for these "terrorist threats." Yeah maybe we might have chemical warfare...but have you ever noticed that almost every single country is woried about having to deal with nuclear/chemical terrorism.

Do you think that video game violence influences kids to kill?

Response to: cell phones in school? Posted February 12th, 2003 in Politics

In my opinion, cell phones are okay at school, but should not be allowed to be on until school is over. But it becomes really annoying when an Idiot answers his/her phone right infront of the teacher and says hold on I have to take this call its really important.

Response to: School Teachers are jerks Posted February 12th, 2003 in Politics

I agree that some are okay, but u kno what bugs me the most about teachers? It's the way if you make a mistake or don't listen for that one second that seems all important they instantly jump on your case. Like today for instance...I was in my chemistry class and we were working on chemical formulas and I was doing fine until my teacher comes up and states to the class that I messed up my worksheet b/c I had written down the answer before I did all the work. So he makes me erase and do it again just because I didn't follow his "directions". I think that a teacher should never single an individual out just because they did something wrong. I mean maybe the teacher could tell me that I didn't follow directions quietly instead of making me look like an idiot infront of the class. Whats up with that

What would happen if we were to, for instance if ufo's were real, be attacked my an alien specie right now. Would we have enough strength to take it out if we know the odds are against us? You figure why we can kill animals on this planet so easily is because they have no means of guns or weapons other than their teeth and claws. If you have seen war of the worlds then you know that the only thing that was able to kill those aliens was are disease and horrible living conditions. What if that race of being was not affected by a disease and was immune would we be able to over come the odds?

Wow...Thats just messed up...

Response to: Ghosts are fake Posted February 3rd, 2003 in Politics

Anything is possible I guess, but for the world to actually believe in ghosts you would have to have some rock solid evidence that ghosts exist in life. I would be leaning toward the skeptical side of the spectrum cuz on one hand there are so many people who have had an encounter with a super natural being...on the other hand too many of these are fake so you have a tough time believing what somebody says about ghosts. Like in the movie signs "Do you believe in coincidence?"
