Recently, I've been hearing an annoying buzzing noise coming from my tower, and I'm 90% sure my power supply is causing it. The noise comes on and off for periods of time - ten minutes buzzing, ten minutes silent. I'm currently trying to figure out exactly why it's buzzing. The noise seems to go away when I lay my case sideways, and it also goes away when I push quite forcibly on the power supply itself (from the back of the tower). I opened my case and applied different pressure on the PSU as the computer ran - this changed the noise as well.

Would that make it a fan hitting a wire, then? Google results seemed to imply a buzzing noise meant my PSU is bad, that it wasn't just hitting a wire or something.

Ah - I stumbled upon the answer as you gave it. As it turns out, there's also a file in Linux that needs to be changed as well, not just the web browser (i guessed this anyways; none of the updates could connect and download). The Linux file concerned IPv6 as well.

Recently, I installed Ubuntu 8.04 to dual boot with Windows Vista on my computer. The install went smoothly, and the boot loader seems to be working fine (I'm on Vista right now; Ubuntu loaded properly too). The only issue seems to be my networking - I get connected to my wireless network in Ubuntu and the load times for websites are terrible, most websites NOT loading at all while some getting halfway. I tested it in Vista, it works as normal with no wait time, confirming there's a problem with some configuration in Ubuntu. Anyone have any ideas? I don't know much about Linux right now.
