the only problem w/ current umd is the fact that it holds about 2gigs of data while a dvd holds 9.

the next big things will be HDdvds (12gis) and BlueRay dics(30gigs)... but then that technology can be applied to umds as well..HDumds and BRumds.

But as it stands there is no way umd will replace current dvds... but im sure future hand helds will jump on the idea.
