A fascist? Are you serious? I thought you guys were wiped off the planet in the 40's. Let's see what interesting political ideas you have to share with us, shall we?

No, they exist in an awful lot of places, just like to not label themselves as fascists as it doesn't go down too well.

Hey bro. Check this out - one of them is the european union, and the other one is some random country in our world. Does it look to you like the EU would be the biggest country in the world?

In the sense of economical power.

Also, when exactly did you get the idea that EU is going to become a country? I don't see how it could happen anywhere in the foreseeable future. The EU is an economical and political union, it's been that way for decades and I don't see why it should suddenly change. It seems like all along your post you make senseless comments because you are confused about what the European Union is and what it aims to achieve - you keep talking about the EU as a single country.

Oh come on, it's going that way, just think about it. The single market, the increasing power of the the European Parliament, the growing military forces. I would not be surprised if the whole thing keeps on merging closer and closer towards a 'sovereign state'.

but I hate superpowers that have that much wealth, power and diversity.
Oh, so now it's personal? You think the UK should pull out of the EU because you hate countries that have too much power? That makes sense. Not only that, but you seem to be misunderstanding the purpose of the EU. The union seeks to balance the economy across Europe.

Indeed it would be a good thing to balance out the economy but will it really make that much of a difference? All I really see is the economy being more vulnerable as we'll all be relying off one another, which sounds good but as demonstrated by the banking crisis in America followed shortly by much of the world, if one goes down it can take the rest with it.

You seem to be thinking that the EU will create some sort of super-country to dominate the world, where in fact it teams up with the poorer and less fortunate. You want a super power? Get France, Germany, England, and a couple other countries in Western Europe on your team and you get the majority of the wealth and political power in the western world.

Indeed, but the wealth spread across the entire Eu as a whole is still huge even with these countries. I do believe that the union was originally meant to be just that, a union, but now the lines have begun to seem a tad blurry.

Also, I hate to break it to you but there's really no diversity at all in Western Europe. You brits might think that the French are from another planet just because they eat cheese and speak funny, but in reality we're all the same.

Think of the diversity all the way from Finland to Spain. There's more diversity as a whole than at first thoughts. Just think about al the different attitudes, cultures and heritages in that small space of land.

You want to see some diversity? Try to unite North Korea with Germany and Syria.

Lol. :)

Let me get this straight: you think that agricultural efforts like the CAP can't work in Europe because of a too high variety of ethnicities? What exactly is going on in your mind? Have a look at this figure - it's the total spendings of the EU (labels in the description). Over 75% of their spendings are just on agriculture and construction / infrastructure. How are their efforts going to get penalized by the "many different ethnicities"? I would like to know.

As Kirk pointed out, the EU has the power to decide fishing limits. While such things are necessary in matters of conservation and that crap, British people still feel that the EU has no right to govern anything about them. What makes other countries different?

Russia

Okay, I admit this was stupid statement and no comment be needed here, I just wonder why the heck in our history lessons in school we learn that an important reason for the collapse of Russia was because of the size? GSCE education just lies to us. :(

Equal rights? Pah! I laugh at your silly ideals, human. Are you implying that being in the EU distracts your country from providing equal rights to its citizens? I see no logical connection in this as a reason for your opposition to the EU. I don't know how you want your government to mix social classes and ethnicities. Maybe invite all the billionaires to a tea party with the construction workers and the black people? That's going to have such a great impact on the country.

For much of history the rich and the poor have lived very close together. Unluckily the rich were often not as generous as one would like even though they knew the extent of the squalor around them. In recent centuries though this has broken down and now generally the rich live near the rich and the poor near the poor. Assuming such things as the 'The Civilising Process' are correct people in the modern day may be more obliged to help those that live around them in turns of financial help.
I suppose we can make no assumptions though.

The mindless ideas that you spout are not only laughable due to their complete irrelevance to the modern world, but also can't be achieved in any realistic way. The EU is actually getting shit done: constructing infrastructure, handles agriculture, and boosts the European market. But screw that! Let's work on mixing social classes instead, because that will make a true change in our world! Cool!

The EU is bollocks, we're bleeding money left right and center here, Britain's got its own problems to worry about, nevermind Europe's.

Facism: extreme nationalism, full focus on internal economics, political isolation and lack of collaboration with the rest of the world. Governmental support for big companies and business.
Communism: an effort to unite the workers of the world and form a nationless society with a strong emphasis on equality and opposition to any kind of currency.

I'd love to see how you can mix those. They pretty much stand for opposite things.

The fascist ideals of strong military, strong justice, strong government.
Communist ideas of a welfare state, equality, tolerance.

Unbelievable. Get a clue, kid. You puny teenagers with your revolutionary political ideas make me sick.

Okay, let's here your views Toast as that made it personal.

Deadclever23,

That's right, put someone down over there username.

Your vulgarization of political ideologies and ignorance in historical events is an insult to the internets. The reasons you provided to support your view opposing the European union are without any form of thought and common sense. This is why I was so bold in my last reply to you. It's clear that your political views originate from vague things that you may have heard people say, or seen on television or on the internet, and not from actual thought and research or education.

Toast is seems like you are blind to the truth of the EU. I'm not a conspiracist but I think that the EU will become a country. Not necessarily by intention but by slowly blurring the lines of power between the EU and national governments.

TV didn't die, you're looking in the wrong place.
Shows like The Sopranos, Doctor Who, Life on Mars, Glee, The Big Bang Theory and tonnes of others are all instant classics made in the modern age. You just have to look harder. There are less brilliant shows but they're still out there.
